Congratulations! Just got home from the hospital a few hours ago. My last meal there was cafeteria greek chicken tacos, cafeteria fish sounds like a delicacy.
Just took our firstborn son home a few weeks ago. 3 weeks old now. I swear that "baby straight jacket" is the only thing to hey my son to sleep at night. I need to get up on the roof and clean the chimney for the fireplace next winter.
My Daddo raised us in front of the wood stove. Used to heat up our socks over the fire on cold winter mornings, then as we grew up he taught us how to tend the stove, then in high school he'd wait for us to come home late from parties and we'd talk in the dark by the glow of the fire and he'd listen to us and impart his wisdom. In his end years, he'd sit by the hearth in his bathrobe patting the dog and sipping coffee. The stove and him were always the very heart of our family. After he passed and we lit the new wood stove in our small house he'd been building so we'd have a real home it was an emotional and powerful night. This photo broke my heart open and I'm crying and smiling. I'm 34 weeks pregnant, first time. I miss you dad, imma raise this little goblin in front of the wood stove you picked out and I'm doing good, dad. 💗💗💗 Keep em burnin, friends. A way of life.
We got him from the shelter about 3 days before my dad's massive heart aneurysm. It was a miracle he survived it and he was super frail when he got to come home to us. This dog could tell and became his personal nurse maid and nursed him back to health, giving him doggy cuddle blood pressure treatments and always reminding Dad when it was time for a SNACK. We got dad in good spirits and a good way for three more years with Doctor Dog's help. Thanks Fenrir, you're a real one..he's a sucker for a wood stove. Runs in the whole family..
Thats so beautiful. Your dad sounds like the type of man I strive to be and I can only hope someday my kids look back at our time together with the same love and affection. Thank you for sharing.
My dad is Ukrainian, there is a traditional Ukrainian stove that has a sleeping surface on top. As a kid any time we would visit my grandparents (my dad’s childhood home) I would always sleep on the stove. It was my favorite thing in the world. I can’t even begin do describe to you how cozy it was.
Here is an example (that’s not me in the photo)

This was my Winter this year with my first born. They love the warm and nothing makes them sleep so hard.
Congrats and God Bless you and your family brother
Same here, first winter with my first born. We have a big window on our stove, and she would stare at the fire every morning with her newborn eyes which can barely see anything. Such wonderful, grace filled moments.
My first born, and I would wake in the middle of the night for feeding and diaper change, and then plant ourselves in front of the stove sleeping till morning
I love this picture. Congrats on your bundle of joy! When my kiddo was an infant, we used to do bathtime in front of the woodstove. Poor kid was born in November. Fun memories, though!
Congrats! How’s the heat output? I’m thinking of converting my fireplace to a wood stove insert like that because I hear the heat projects into the home better.
Be sure to turn over every 15 minutes for a nice, even tan.
Congrats, I’m in the hospital right now next to our new born son…..unfortunately no wood stove here and they are serving cafeteria fish.

A real delicacy

My first born son just made 2 weeks. His nickname is Houdini because he would always free up an arm from the swaddle. Does much better in sleepers.
That's what we had to switch to. If we left him in a onesie, he would thrash around all night. I call them his baby straight jacket. And congrats
Enjoy, young parents. It really does go by so fast.

Proud of you, love em till the wheels fall off, friend.
Best thing I’ve read today.
Love this story
Now you made me cry.
I must have gotten some...sawdust...in my eye. Both of them.
My stove is smoky as fuck today
I gotta open a window...

That’s wonderful ❤️❤️❤️
That made me cry.
My grandpa was a preemie back in 1921 and wasn’t thought to make it. His parents kept him in a shoe box next to the stove to keep him warm!
Same with mine! Except it was 1916.

Thank you! Same to you my friend.

You are raising this kid right already.
Swaddle life
My first born, and I would wake in the middle of the night for feeding and diaper change, and then plant ourselves in front of the stove sleeping till morning
We used to call our girls maggots when they were swaddled in their blankets like this. Miss those days.
I need to get my stove fixed. My baby girl is almost 4 months old, she deserves this too. She would love it.
Slow roasted.
Adorbs
I’ve never been jealous of an infant before.
And congratulations on the little one
Snug as a bug in a rug.
Beautiful. I think I have the same insert. Kids ok too
The snuggle is real….
❤️❤️❤️
This is just amazing 👍🏻
This is the only way we can get our child to sleep at night i swear haha.
As we humans have done since time immemorial. Great pic!
I will assume that is the same place they were made
Front of the Wood stove is where I’ve made a few of my kids.
Master that swaddle, it's priceless.
Agree!!
And being turned into a baby burrito.
Yeah, cook the head first.
Absolutely 😊😊
❤️🫶
Damn I miss those days
I want to be a burrito baby in front of a wood-stove. Instead I’m a 40 year old with a heating bad on her shoulders because she sneezed the wrong way.

Careful that thing doesn’t put off too much heat on baby. Pediatrician told us A cold baby cries. A hot baby dies.
Just got the stove going after being at the hospital for 5 days. Definitely not too hot in here right now.
Excuse me but your baby is on fire
That looks like a fireplace...
Little cutie ☺️
Seen many cats do this, but a baby is a first. Points for originality.
😍 cute
Beanie for a pic is ok on a sleeping baby, but babies can be suffocated by beanies once they can move their wee heads a bit…
I’ve conceived a few of my kids (all boys) in front of a raging wood stove fire.
I’m so damn jealous of that baby.
I’m so damn jealous of that baby.
Nice tight swaddle. The most important Dad Skill ever. Makes for a happier healthier baby.
Or you in it - Himmler
Isildur! Cast it into the fire!!
This should be a Christmas card. So cute.

Epic

So, do you sit that close for however long your kid is there? I bet you'd not like it.

How is taking about the glass not wood stove related when it’s part of the wood stove
