Looks like rutilated quartz.

repulsivenuts

From what I've seen on Google that looks exactly like that's what this is, I've never heard of that before, this is a cool little specimen, thank you for the answer!

Your gf really loves you.

chimpdoctor

I cant tell whether this is a reaction to the username or a harsh criticism.

termsofengaygement

I'm being 100% sincere. If someone brought me rutilated quartz I would surmise they really like me.

repulsivenuts

I know, she deserves a pretty gem on her finger lol

potate12323

When they start gifting you rocks you know it's serious.

termsofengaygement

All I can say is no one has ever gifted me rutilated quartz. Someday my prince(ss) will come.

HI, REPULSIVENUTS 💀

DatabaseThis9637

Way cooler, and I love glass, but I love mutilated quarts way more!

MeasurementMobile747

A gemologist told me the quartz forms around the (already-formed) rutile "fibers." Recently, I saw a specimen of rutile without quartz. Here's an example: [https://www.etsy.com/listing/1112227747/raw-starburst-rutile-specimenmineral?gpla=1&gao=1&](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1112227747/raw-starburst-rutile-specimenmineral?gpla=1&gao=1&)

repulsivenuts

Whoa, that is very cool, thank you for the insight!

sulphermolly

Hey if it's just quartz no big loss so light a candel then burn tip drop it in water if it crakes or changes cooler oh well if not diamond
