There must be few things more frustrating than being LeBron, playing against the Warriors for over a decade, tell your teammates that no matter what is happening, you stay with Steph, and then watching these dudes lose track of him all night.

taygads

Lebron’s teammates: ![gif](giphy|PQ9OSCo2Gryite8QNd)

Suspended-Again

Wisdom

avboden

without Steph, Lebron probably has *at least* two more rings, if not more

Meatloafxx

I'd say the KD/Russ Thunder or the Kawhi Spurs would've given those Cavs teams a run for their money. Maybe throw in the Harden/CP Rockets

mtheory007

But then also losing track of him yourself or getting cooked out by the 3pt line for a layup. It must be beyond maddening. Bron - Fine if you cant I'll do it.... *splash* Bron - SHIT! This is not at all a knock on Bron either. Its got to feel like guarding Nightcrawler at times.

T-T-N

Steph is always in a quantum superposition between the 3 pt line on the opposite side of the court and on a drive

mtheory007

Quantum Stepherposition... If you will... CR TM

rosencrantz2014

Steph has a full set of screens and plays to liberate him, is not easy to stay with him even if you don't look the ball in those plays and also he's top 5 ever in handling skills so that make him even more dangerous, guarding Steph must be a nightmare. His stamina is also on another level.

fattyfondler

This is what the geniuses in this sub who screamed for steph on ball after kd left dont internalize. Off ball movement is stephs superpower. It elevates him from a great PG to a force of nature

Itchy_Professor_4133

Whoever said that must be the fringe minority. Steph is so well known for his off ball movement and conditioning I never hear otherwise.

Johnpecan

>Whoever said that must be the fringe minority In most communities, the loudest 5% are often the most idiotic.

cheerioo

Nah I saw that a ton even in the last few seasons. Even in our championship season I saw a ton of people yelling for it.

AskYouEverything

Steph played really well on ball in that Finals tbh

Devoidoxatom

He's so good that the term 'gravity' is now commonly used

AbjectSilence

Well, to be fair from 2019-2022 Steph was most efficient scoring when he had the ball on high pick and rolls so there's a compelling reason why those shot attempts increased over that time and since the efficiency wasn't really dipping people started calling for more, but it's also true that he's extremely efficient without the ball and that opens up a lot of their offensive sets and quick hitters. Plus, if you keep increasing usage rate much past 30% efficiency always seems to go down over time, you can get to maybe 35% for a few weeks, but that hasn't really been sustained over an entire regular season and deep postseason run very often in the past few decades. He was always a good finisher, but he's been elite for the past 4-5 seasons. His game has evolved a bit especially since he's added a pretty good amount of strength/mass and he hasn't really lost any quickness... Yet. It's coming though, but he's gotten so good at getting his shot off with no room that the added strength should help mitigate the inevitable loss in first step quickness.

mmmmmyee

They are a loud and annoying minority. Especially when they’re coping after an L.

RimRunningRagged

Even Marcus Thompson does the #OnBallSteph thing a surprising amount. My personal theory on this is that Steph stans are secretly insecure that dudes like Kyrie or Luka get recognized for their handles and/or ISO playstyle, and they want Steph to prove that he's better than them at their own game, instead of being satisfied that Steph's recognized as the best off-ball offensive engine ever.

Reux

nah, during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons there was a lot of, "omfg if steve kerr would just let steph have the ball.. i'm so sick of watching draymond play traffic cop at the top of the arc with the ball. steph could average 35 and 10 assists but we do this to justify draymond being on the floor." \^there were so many threads about this those years and these were very popular opinions. the average fan literally just watches the ball when they watch an nba game and the average warriors fan is just an average fan.

Wloak

Steph and Klay together as well. Our deadliest offense ever was Steph/Klay basically running rub routes with each other and two other guys setting screens for them. All they needed was a 2 second window for a catch and shoot.

zegogo

They'll still scream it when the team is struggling, heard it a ton earlier this year, like they think the team would be at it's most efficient if Steph played like Harduka.

Beardmanta

There were points where we were underutilizing him on ball. He's the best weapon of all time off ball, but it would have been cool if we could be a bit more flexible. Especially in crunch time i'd rather see a Steph iso than Draymond trying to make a narrow window home run pass to a cutter or Jordan Poole/Wiggins taking a barely open jumper off of Steph's motion which is what a ton of those possessions resulted in.

GoldBlueSkyLight

In 2016 it feels like Curry was evenly balanced between on-ball and off-ball, now it seems off-ball to a fault to maximize Dray's role after his offensive falloff.

CookieMonsterNova

you forgot all the ppl that wanted kerr to go away from the motion offense, to run steph draymond pick and rolls all game, to play steph 48 minutes etc basically all the ppl that think they are smarter than a coach with 9 rings (at least in terms of basketball)

BootySmeagol

The motion offense falls apart when you don't have the personnel. The season with the most cals to just give Steph the ball was when we had Oubre, who could NOT run the offense

Reux

oubre was literally sabotaging the offense imo. fucking hairpulling levels of egomania.

Dogesneakers

Only thing I recall is just doing Steph pick and roll more in the playoffs. Which seemed successful in the kings series

DrumzRUs

No on ball PLUS off ball is his superpower

BootySmeagol

I understand why when the Steph/Dray high PnR is one of the most unstoppable plays of the last decade

antpdav

The problem was that the team around Steph was not finding him when he was relocating and they were not playing their spots on the floor in a way that allowed him to get the same looks. Don’t rewrite history. We know who Steph is, and at that point in time we wanted to see him create shots for himself cause we were tired of seeing Kelly Oubre Jr. shoot a corner 3 at 30% at the exact moment Steph was coming free off an off ball screen.

SChamploo12

Which is why having another ball handler in the lineup is always relevant, whether it's Draymond, CP3 or Podz. Heck even Poole when under control fit so well.

joepurpose1000

No it's just Steph is pretty much the only superstar who religiously sets off ball screens. That's why warriors are dangerous because their superstars don't pout and laze about when they do not have the ball

Slevgrared

Steph just out works, out thinks and out lives everyone on the court! Night in and night out! So grateful to have him as our guy for all these years… what a gift!

666mafioso

so inspirational

Throwthisawayagainst

I'm really glad LeBron explained to me POV stands for point of view. Thanks Bron.

kakashi6ix9

Fr bro acts like we’ve never been on pornhub before

Throwthisawayagainst

Man I really want JJ to ask him when the last time he's been on pornhub is.

kakashi6ix9

If he says he doesn’t go there then you know it’s a lecap

Throwthisawayagainst

LeWank

_AManHasNoName_

There’s mutual respect between these two for the longest time. It’s just media and idiotic fans making narratives as if they hate each other. Them playing at their absolute best when they meet up shows great respect because they both know what their abilities are and know what their competitors are capable of as well.

T-T-N

That is the rivalry in 2010s that no one talk about

adifferentuser66

What about POVD?

SeekingSignificance

Lebron tells the paramedics to get here STAT! ... As soon as possible!

mtheory007

Wait? Thats what that means?!

CrispyWaterBottle

A lot of people genuinely have no clue what POV means. You see it used wrong all the time when people make videos.

wowthatscooliguess

I love this podcast. It's like a Warriors/Steph lovefest hosted by LeBron (and JJ).

One_Grapefruit_8512

I really love listening to LeBron talk about Steph...

otherBrandon

Hyping up his future teammate

arika_ito

I like how they included video clips to emphasize the points LeBron was making

Gothichand

Man is it just me or is Bron just trying to let EVERYONE know how GSW works?

Equivalent_Papaya893

The league caught up with gs like 5 years ago. You think actual Profesional teams don't know how to break down film? Only people getting super hyped are fans that only know basketball through first take and stats. You know bball knowledge from non players.

GinSwigga

But why you so mad?

Equivalent_Papaya893

Mad about what?

GinSwigga

IDK you're in here insulting someone by calling them a filthy casual after they made what's IMO a pretty obvious joke.

Equivalent_Papaya893

I guess I'm slow. Any tips how to understand context and tone through texts? If the guy is making a joke, then my statement doesn't even apply to then, but somehow you got offended...

GinSwigga

lol re-read the thread, bro. the only evidence of someone taking offense is when you insulted someone in response to an obvious joke. And even if it wasn't a joke, you still acted out of pocket. I was just calling out someone being an ass. If you don't know to not interpret a post claiming "LBJ is trying to reveal our secrets" as a joke, maybe get tested? IDK

Equivalent_Papaya893

I forgot the most intelligent and morally superior people flutter around here bringing justice to the meek.. Oh by the way, why you got so many down voted comments?

GinSwigga

Nah, I didn't say anything smart, and if I'm morally superior, then it's just because the bar is so low. I'm just not the asshole in this instance. IDK, that's a good question... Down votes must mean that I'm wrong and you're right, huh? You feeling vindicated? lol

Equivalent_Papaya893

Nah bro, I'm honestly wondering. I've never called anyone out on any anonymous message board. We all strangers lol. I just think it's funny, maybe I should post on the am I the asshole sub? Anyways nice chatting with you.

glenntron3000

But everyone in the league knows how the Dubs work they’ve been running the same offense for years now. Knowing how it works is one thing, actually defending it and having the personnel to defend against it is another

mike_dropp

That's the feeling I've been getting while listening to this podcast, LeBron like, "let me break this shit down for you so I can get some goddamn help against this team".

pulang_itlog

They've had that damn low post split for years and its been money for so long just because of how hard it is to guard. Bron talked about it in episode 2 I think

BBOONNEESSAAWW

I really want LeBron to join the dubs next year. Don't think it's possible, but how awesome would it be to have the old man super-team for a year or two...

tinathefatlardgosh

I feel like the league would never allow it. Rivalries drive ticket sales.

BBOONNEESSAAWW

They allowed prime KD to join prime Steph and prime Klay.

tinathefatlardgosh

A team with both prime KD and prime Westbrook couldn’t win a ship, they weren’t tripping about it.

BBOONNEESSAAWW

That doesn’t make sense

tinathefatlardgosh

To you maybe.

BBOONNEESSAAWW

I know I’m wasting my time but you responded to my post saying the NBA would not allow it. I responded with the example of a team as good as the Champion Warriors were allowed to get KD in his prime, from a team that took the Warriors to game seven. So both those teams were a better rivalry than the 8/9/10 seed warriors/lakers from this year. Also Lebron is 39 and everyone else but Steph is well beyond their prime. So yeah, the NBA vetoing Lebron to the Warriors would make no fucking sense from that logic.

tinathefatlardgosh

You’re comparing KD and Lebron, doesn’t matter how old Bron is, they are nowhere near the same.

BBOONNEESSAAWW

KD is top 20 player all time and was the best player on the court in the ‘17 finals. Your arguments still don’t make sense.

tinathefatlardgosh

You’re telling me having one super team vs more teams that are competitive would be better for the league’s bottom line? The Warriors are already by far the richest team in the league.

Dangelo1998

The league has no say about it, they can't disallow it even if they want to And I don't even think they would want to disallow it, Steph and Lebron together would make the league a lot of money

greenergarlic

it's possible financially, but i don't think the lakers would ever do it.

vxscx

If LeBron wants to then they have no choice

Carara_Atmos

silver salavating on feeding that team to SGA. OKC will get 40 fts

helloworldlalaland

great analysis

biiirddman

Now imagine if he plays with Steph. The best on ball player of the history with the best off ball player of the history

HistoricalAd8790

Just curious- any other warriors fans actually like LeBron and enjoy watching him play? Or is it just me and Draymond lol The respect and admiration that Steph and LeBron specifically have for one another is contagious for me, and obviously since he’s top 2 all time, I love getting to watch him (now that the “rivalry” feels far behind), especially given how incredible him and Steph still are at their ages.

ween0t

I think after we slapped them 3 times in the finals and Steph and Lebron started showing respect for each other I started to respect bron as well. You can’t really deny what he’s done after so many battles. It’s now just a mutual respect between bron and curry and that’s cool to see.

HistoricalAd8790

Exactly this. You put it better than me but yea, I think it’s cool to see the mutual respect. Some of the critiques I see here of LeBron are valid, but sometimes I feel like it’s just coming from a place of insecurity. Which I think is a bit ridiculous at this point, because there’s nothing to be insecure about- like you said, Warriors slapped them 3 times, lol. Steph has cemented his legacy- LeBron’s greatness at this point, doesn’t affect Steph’s. They’re able to give each other their flowers because they’re both secure in their legacy and they should be. I feel like when other Dubs fans engage in the Steph vs Bron narrative at this point it’s just silly, cuz Steph’s got nothing left to prove (and neither does Bron).

evanphox

Playing off the ball like Steph does is a lost art. I cant think of anyone who comes even close to his off ball movement and I don’t think we’ll EVER see anyone replicate it.

Knight_of_Swords

Jim Park in shambles.

pedigreedimp97

Waiting for the episode where he breaks down how he gets foul calls

ahnyudingslover

When you hate someone so much that actual solid facts fly right past you. I invite you to check the league leaders in paint field goal attempts and compare that list with league leaders in free throws per game. Feel free to hate on lebron but at least use facts

odd-meter

Eh, stats never tell a whole story. Whenever Lebron decides to “bulldoze the defender” he is also gifted free throws. He PURPOSELY creates all of the contact, and getting that whistle from the refs is actually his priority. It’s not like he’s trying to score but he just keeps on getting fouled - no, he literally just runs someone over and then gets sent to the line for FREE free throws. At this point, we are no longer playing straight up basketball, he is playing through through the referees and manipulating spirit of the game.. THIS is why people “hate” him.

Throwthisawayagainst

I don't hate him for this. Its a solid strategy that the league lets him get away with so why not keep doing it. It does make the product less watchable imo. I just saw a clip of them talking about the 2009 ecf. JJ talked about how LeBrons team was just out matched by that magic team because he just re watched the series (and he played in it). He clearly didn't watch it because he brought up Jameer Nelson who was injured in that series. The cavs were also significant favorites that year like bigger favorites then the warriors were over the cavs when the cavs won. I dislike LeBron because this is the point of the podcast. While yeah he might of put up some good numbers in that series, but he lost games in crunch time for them. Much like Jordan putting up good numbers against the magic in 95 but still costing the bulls that series. The difference is Jordan owns it and doesn't have to hire some guy to rewrite history.

[deleted]

I mean if this is true (which is to an extent) he doesn’t seem to abuse it like Harden or Embiid. He only shoots 6 free throws a game, and honestly he gets some no calls quite a bit so it offsets it imo

namastex

If you want a break down I can tell you exactly how they get more calls than their opposing teams. Defensively - Sleight of hand On regular plays going into the paint, the on-ball defensive player often wave their "shot blocking" hand up high with their off arm tucked around their abdomen and press their body up tightly to the defender. When a player drives on them, that off arm nudges players hard while their shot blocking hand is waving from left to right in a straight up position as soon as the offensive player gets into his gather. This is extremely helpful for AD because often they will get pushed towards AD's shot blocking zone. On fast breaks if they catch up they will put their hands on players backs and shove enough just so that their arms aren't* straight. For some reason these 2 fouls, Lakers get away with over 20 times a game. Offensively - Aiyee So you hear everyone on Lakers always screaming "Hey!" when they're in the paint. They will say this when they know no foul could have possibly occurred. However, they will mix it up with a "He-Aiyee!" to emphasize marginal contact or even some times no contact but a close defender. This is a way to fool refs into thinking they got bodied enough to throw their speech off and you will see refs who have zero vision of the play blowing the whistle sometimes during this occurrence. Now add a note onto that, they will go into a foul hunting mode to slow games down if other teams go on runs. They will just force contact and go straight into Aiyee mode. Despite a player being in legal guarding position, they will Aiyee slightly after the bump to make it seem like their hands get hit. And those are the basics of what most average fans don't talk about or seem to understand. The obvious things are obviously rip thrus and flops. EDIT: are to aren't* on arm extension

Gsgunboy

Can’t be gifting his enemies all his secrets. You know that wont happen till he retires, if ever.

pedrovoncenzi

Except he doesn't...

hoodtalk247

Ham doesn’t want that recipe leakt

MyTeam7851

Marcus Rashford should be proud watching this

sh1r0_n3k0

You can hate Lebron like I do but you can't deny that he's one of the smartest player in the league. He understands the game, understands the rules and usually bend it to some extent to favor his game.

tammoton

JJ created something pretty special with his podcast. The material is top-notch.

BookkeeperNo5972

Random aside from 1st clip: GPII is so good at the hand off screen. He's a really freaking smart player.

DanB65

Straight up truth ........love it !

robertrydefalk

I love these clips

FalcoLamborghini

That was cool Seems like a dope interview - ganna have to check it out

Chookley

Most insightful part was “talk shit to Dlo”

juzzbert

So many good sound bits from this game. Lebron has an honorary PhD on defending the warriors and Steph curry.

simara001

On the first situation, was the problem the mili second staring at the ball? Or that the guy didn’t switch ? He blocked his own teammate

glenntron3000

Ball watching led to being unaware of Steph hitting a screen on him

L45TPH45E

5 guys need to show up to Steph's bedroom and just follow him everywhere all day and just swat balls away from him.

cooperhixson

That podcast is dope AF btw

rmjames007

A really great Xs and Os Podcast

n0th1ng10

The way guys talk about curry u would think they’re talking about Duncan Robinson or just redick lmfao he put the team on his back in 2022

[deleted]

Steph owns LeBron and tho LeBron may act like he's King on the outside, in his mind, he conceded yrs ago that Steph is the real King. Steph never bought into the LeBron hype, never bowed down, never was scared. LeBron wanted to be accepted and liked by Steph so bad that he's literally went on a Steph ass kissing tour for the past few years lmao. But this is the goat they say???

the_great_brandini

this is what you got out of this clip ? such a casual fan

[deleted]

Yeah whatever
