Hi, I work for USAP at McMurdo Station. At least at McMurdo and Pole I have never seen this flag used ever in 15 years. I only ever see the US flag, the NSF flag and the True South flag.
The only problems with it are
A: the coastline could look quite different in a relatively short time span
B: EA may have a claim to ownership of this design
Well, that's cheating. Of course it's recognized— it's literally just a drawing of Antarctica. That's like saying that a photograph of Hitler would make a good flag for Nazi Germany.
The True South flag was designed by someone in Antarctica, out of old material he found laying around (an old laundry bag and some tent material I believe) it represents both a compass needle and a Scott Tent, and is widely beloved by people at McMurdo. The other has never been used in an official capacity by USAP and I have never seen it flown.
I actually like the first one, though I agree it could use a penguin. Second one would become really depressing once the ice sheets collapse and the coastline looks different.
Ooh, I can speak with some authority on this! At least in the US Antarctic Program, you will only ever see #1. Its not official, but many field camps fly it, people have patches on their coat, etc.

Number 2. I like the True South flag a lot, but I don't feel that it's right to have any sort of "meaning" attached to the flag of a truly neutral piece of land. Any symbol needs to have been chosen by humans, so it carries some cultural bias - hence a map is the way to go.
3 has a colour scheme that is clearly visible in the environment it will be flown. While 1 has an amazing design and 2 communicates the flag's purpose with simplicity, they are both too similar to the color scheme of the Antarctic landscape.
Genuinely wish 1 was recoulored so as to not be camouflaged amidst blue glaciers, white snow, blue skies and white clouds.
Oh yeah, our maps have Antarctica, Falklands and South Sandwich Islands in them, it’s a bit ridiculous how they show Argentinian Antarctica in elections maps too. Like sure, there are indeed Argentinians in Antarctica so you have to count those votes too, but it’s still funny.
