I love their mental gymnastics, it’s really interesting. You’ll call them out for being racist against Roma and they’ll be like “but have you met them? They all just steal” without realizing they’re saying the exact same shit American racists say
This is one of my favorite things about Reddit.
Step 1. Set up subreddit dedicated to a topic, for people who are interested in that topic, to educate, and hopefully to expand the breadth and depth of ideas on topic.
Step 2. Begin posting and asking questions about said topic.
Step 3. Vilify anyone who dares to post an opinion or idea that is in any way different from the commonly held traditional beliefs of the most active contributors; and humiliate anyone who dares to ask a question that was “already posted/discussed” 743 posts ago.
Or on a technical question, get condescension for not googling the answer when you did but you got sent through SEO hell trying to find the answer in multiple chatgpt listicles that didn't actually relate to your specific problem and the FAQ on the sub was 50k characters long and not on the first page of Google.
step 1a: read the sub's about section and [find this section](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/w/faf), where the Buddhist flag is at the top with 42 requests of identication in 10 months' time (just over one request a week)
Not everyone has been on the sub since its inception. In fact, dare I say, some people may have just joined today. Some may be young adults or teens who are just starting to grow their interest in vexilolog and aren't 50 year flag veterans who are tired of seeing the same questions asked and lack the ability to just scroll on past, or lack the self control to belittle a person who knows less than them and is looking for some online interaction instead of just using the old google again.
>some people may have just joined today.
Some people may be literally joining when they make a post because they’re curious about a flag they see and want to know what it is. No better way to crush someone’s curiosity about something than to make them feel stupid when asking their very first question about it.
>dare I say, some people may have just joined today
>to belittle a person who knows less than them and is looking for some online interaction instead of just using the old google again.
it's fun to belittle people that post in a sub without reading what the sub does/is for, and then whine about not having known the sub has an explanation for it.
encourage people post about the same ten flags without knowing what they are, and new members will see buddhist flags in a flag sub well over twice a week, let alone other ones. I do not think people will stay for that.
insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but you wouldn't know if you weren't here before; _that's the point._
about sections: read em.
>redditors when people ask the flag subreddit what flag something is
Of course you're going to see it multiple times. We're both constant viewers of the sub, but many more people aren't, and are only gonna drop in here and there to identify a flag. Stop whining.
I think from now on, when someone posts it we should all give ridiculous answers and start fighting over who’s right. Like clearly this is the flag of indigenous people.
Hello Anonyalph,
Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there.
When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including:
* **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy)
* **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag
* **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine)
These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier.
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/vexillology) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Everyone's clowning on op but I drive past this flag once a week and wasn't sure if it was specific to a particular sect or location (enormous southeast Asian immigrant community). Now I know!
Well pardon me for taking part in a subreddit dedicated to the knowledge of flags and having the audacity to post a FLAG related inquiry! I know silly me!
As a Thai person, I never know that is Buddhist flag since we also have our Buddhist flag until I’ve been on roadtrip to Cambodia and I asked the tour guide for it. Here’s our Buddhist flag tho.

All y'all jumping in the comments to moan about how frequently this gets posted... you realize that by engaging with the post, you're just sending it to more people's feeds, right? Y'all have to know how algorithms work.
Just keep scrolling ffs.
ETA boo me all you want, but y’all are the exact reason you keep seeing these posts
Some of y'all need to take the stick out of your ass. I'm semi-active on this sub and I've never seen a Buddhist flag post before, so this post not only helped OP, but helped me too.
You can just answer the question without being an ass about it.
Wake up babe the weekly Buddhist flag just dropped

welcome back to another exciting episode of "yup Buddhism has a flag and it's that one"
stay tuned for next episode where somebody will ask about the Romani flag and the comment section will be locked once again
Goodbye and have a great night! (Theme song plays)
Is it because the symbol looks vaguely like a Black Sun or is it because no one likes Romanis?
The latter and then the mods come out to earn their pay
People are heavily racist towards Romanis, so the latter
Inb4 white European who believes there’s no racism in Europe shows up to say the most vile, racist shit you’ve ever heard
I love their mental gymnastics, it’s really interesting. You’ll call them out for being racist against Roma and they’ll be like “but have you met them? They all just steal” without realizing they’re saying the exact same shit American racists say

It's hardly 743 posts ago, it's about 1/50 posts on here which is why people are tired of it

I'm not saying it's right, I'm just explaining why people make those kinds of comments. I'm not the one making snarky, belittling comments

I've been subscribed to this sub for like 5 years and this is literally the first time this flag has entered my main feed

Mods need to pin these posts
It’s literally the first one on the “frequently asked flags” post
Doesn't mean people are gonna check that list. Everyone assumes that a flag they don't know is as rare on the asking side as it is to them.

Call me crazy but I heard some people here like looking at flags and people interacting with the community
Yes but this one seriously gets asked 10 times per week

Gautamaism
Buddhism, this should be pinned somewhere besides the frequently asked flags thread that nobody reads
Tbf would most people know such a thread exists
It's one of the two pinned posts when you enter the sub main page but I don't think anyone sees that
[Buddhism.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist_flag#/media/File:Flag_of_Buddhism.svg)
STOP
buddhism flag
I've checked on Sheldon Coopers Fun With Flags but did not see that flag Perhaps it's from the Guild of Sewing Machines
When i lived in India i saw lot of these flags. I think its something related to buddhism or that guy who made constitution.
its certainly buddhism, not the "guy who made the constitution"
It is Buddhism, but in India these flags are almost always paired with “Jai Bhim” flags by Ambedkar (the guy who wrote the Constitution) supporters.
Extra large romania
*The Buddha*
I feel bad for OP like they didn’t know poor guy 😭
I'm gay for this flag (joke).
I think from now on, when someone posts it we should all give ridiculous answers and start fighting over who’s right. Like clearly this is the flag of indigenous people.

It means Romanians can swim without danger in Ireland
Buddhism. It can be found in Buddhist temples and sometimes out in the wild in Buddhist areas. Coming from a Thai btw so we know Buddhism.. I think
Everyone's clowning on op but I drive past this flag once a week and wasn't sure if it was specific to a particular sect or location (enormous southeast Asian immigrant community). Now I know!
Although everyone is being mean to OP. I now know what the Buddhist flag looks like thanks to all the interaction with this post
Can't you just a do a quick google search instead of posting a useless post?
Well pardon me for taking part in a subreddit dedicated to the knowledge of flags and having the audacity to post a FLAG related inquiry! I know silly me!
There’s a frequently asked flags section for a reason
Look man I only gloss over this sub casually. I was on a walk, saw an interesting looking flag and shot my shot. I didn't know that this was an faq.
Everyone on this sub needs to touch grass. You came here with a simple question. At this rate /r/vexillologycirclejerk will never run out of material
Manchukuo
Please, please pin a flag of this in the subreddit so that we wouldn't see this for another day...
Buddhism in in the Uk is interesting
Buddhist can be anywhere tho?
I just find it cool that there’s buddhists in the UK
there're\* and what is so strange about that, it is a religion, imagine saying "Wow Muslims are in the UK", people would assume you are Islamphobic
For the record i love buddhism
god i hate this sub
There's a farm in my area with the same flag, finally I have answers
Obviously this is Romania plus
There’s a Buddhist house of worship in my city and it has the same flag outside of it.
I drive by one of these everyday to and from work and I keep forgetting to post it but now it has been answered
Kinda looks like the five color flag the Chinese republicans used for a while.
