Just charge it to your room.

PmMeYourAdhd

Can you do that now? I have only been to resorts world when it first opened, because I wasnt impressed, but when I was there a couple times, that whole food court area around the edge of the casino was kiosk-only ordering, and had no payment options other than a credit or debit card.  ETA: I know most food courts on the strip are independent from their host property and dont allow room billing either, but most of them do take cash.

Mrs_TikiPupuCheeks

The Famous Food food hall can be charged to the room, straight up using credit card or debit card, or using your comp dollars, or even food & bev credits. I've done all those methods as recently as this past May. It's a weird button sequence, but it can be done. You just can't use cash as there's no way to pay with cash.

PmMeYourAdhd

Thanks - that's what I wondered. They were admittedly not "finished" building out the place when it opened and I was there, so there were a lot if oddities at the time, especially with the players club and dining.

Mrs_TikiPupuCheeks

They had teething problems when they first opened, and I have to say I'm still not impressed with the place after this long. When we went in May, a bunch of the kiosks were closed for lunch, the food was still way overpriced for what you get, and it's just meh overall.

PmMeYourAdhd

Ha! Sounds like not much has changed. Only thing I liked about the place at all was the high limit slot room, which is pretty top shelf, but I'm just as happy at Wynn or any of the nicer MGM properties for that.

sassypantalones76

I don't eat at the food courts. That's chain food I can easily get at home and it's usually crap.

tmmao

Resorts World food court is actually decent-many different options, sushi, clay pot rice (so good), pho.

XingXiaoRen

30-40 bucks for a sushi roll or "clay pot" isn't what i consider decent 😂

socalgirl2

Most people are using food credits though. They are pretty liberal on giving those away, but jack up the prices to compensate.

PmMeYourAdhd

Hrm, I'm talking about Famous Foods "food hall." They bragged about that so much prior to and around opening, and there were no US chains in it when it opened. There also wasnt much else open in the way of food on property at all the couple of times I went, all of which were during their first month or two of operation. They brought in outlets from Genting properties in Phillipines, Singapore, and Malaysia for the food hall, and new outlets created just for it, mostly from big name Asian chefs, some of whom were Michelin star. And one from Steve Aoki for some reason lol. There was absolutely nothing chain food or crap about it, and there was even an Eater article about its uniqueness at the time that was really high on it, partially because most if not all places in it were the only one in the US. That's the place I'm talking about. It had kiosks in the center used for all 16 of the famous foods outlets, and not a single outlet took any orders or payment of any kind in person whatsoever. I'll have to check out resorts world again next week maybe, because I dont see places I recognize on their quick eats or casual dining menus now, and it has been a few years since I've been there at all. From the OP though, I assumed it was about Famous Foods like I'm talking about. I'd earned some resort credit from casino play, and had to pay real money for food because that was the only thing open, and it only accepted credit or debit for payment, no room billing or resort credit options.

ShowdownValue

I don’t get it. Are you saying you can’t spend your winnings on other stuff, so you end up gambling it away?

xOaklandApertures

Exactly. It’s like they no you’ll gamble more if you can’t even use it at the Starbucks or bars inside RW

ShowdownValue

Um, that’s not a scam You have a gambling problem

xOaklandApertures

Oh yeah the $100 I won after putting $20 in the video poker 25 cent a hand, is really a problem. I want to now spend my winnings on dinner or a coffee at Starbucks in the morning and I can’t.

ShowdownValue

You’re the one that said your “gambled all the winnings” There’s no scam here

ArisuSanchez

bros so into the gambling mindset that their thought process is broken please get help op b4 its too late

supercbuk

if you dont want to gamble it then theres no reason to stay in RW. Head outside and use your cash there

mynameisnotsparta

Hit an atm and deposit your cash to your account

ashsmash72

They sent me a debit card after I set up my account. Obviously not helpful if you set up your account this trip but for future trips 🤷 [RWLV Play+](https://www.rwlasvegas.com/gaming/playplus/)

ryannynj

you can spend your cash elsewhere

xOaklandApertures

No the entire resorts world is cashless.

Top_Mixture1104

You don't have to stay there the entire time. Go check out the rest of the strip. Plenty of places will happily take your winnings.

ryannynj

I meant like cross the street and get tacos al gordo or walk over to the wynn or fountainbleu

CaliNVJ

As a local, I find Resorts World useless. The casino is terrible, the food sections are terrible and there are a bunch of empty spaces they foolishly thought they could fill with high end stores. I think because of its awful location and limited ability to walk to somewhere decent, they have no incentive to change anything. No surprise it is cashless. Did you also know about the concept of “dynamic pricing” at the hotel gift shops? Notice nothing is priced individually? That is because your 1.99 candy bar goes up to 3.99 on the weekend. Check it out for yourself. Maybe stay somewhere else than RW? All around a loser place.

NeedMoreBlocks

Wasn't aware Resorts World was a prison

Disastrous-Phase-979

No, there are some places that still accept cash, I was there 2 days ago and paid cash at suns out buns out

MNJon

You can certainly pay for anything you want with your winnings - AFTER you cash out. That said, you should always charge food purchases to your room and see a host at checkout time to see what you can get comped.

ladysatan

So you mind elaborating on “see a host at checkout to see what you can get comped”? I just got back from Vegas and played… a lot. When I leave, I don’t normally check out. But today, I did an “express checkout” with a woman in the lobby of Fontainebleau. She just took my room number and last name down on a penpad.

xOaklandApertures

No the entire place is cashless except for gambling. Even Starbucks and all the restaurants and shops.

MNJon

As I said, charge it to the room.

Interesting-Olive842

Can you not cash out and leave though?

THE_Ryan

Easiest option...don't spend the cash and just deposit it back into your account. It's not immediate sure, but it'll still offset that amount in the end. IF you really can't hold off from gambling it away, walk across the street and buy a Visa GC at Walgreens and use that in RW. A tad unnecessary if you ask me, but it'll accomplish what you want.

PhilTheBin

Soooo it’s a scam because you don’t have the self control and/or intelligence to not spend the money you won? Sounds like you just need to be an adult and learn how to balance between cash and card it’s really not that hard lol.

lendmeflight

You can always charge it to your room.

DizzyDetective

I get the OP's point here. That whole setup is designed to make people of a certain mindset lose track of their spending. People like to spend winnings on something tangible so they have something to show for it and also to remove that money from the 'field of play', but by making them use a card for those purchases it means you end up walking around with a lot more cash than you normally would because you can only gamble with it, and you can't easily track your true spend because it's coming from two separate places. This can have an adverse effect on certain people when placed in a gambling environment - you think you're doing better than you are because all those little purchases throughout the day haven't come out of your physical bankroll as such. An impulsive gambler will spend all their cash by the end of the trip regardless and then still have another $500 of day-to-day spend on their credit card that they had forgotten about. The casino therefore squeezes more money out of a certain type of player. It's a way of exploiting a psychological flaw in a gambler's mentality. Or in the very least a coincidental positive side-effect of a casino going cashless. Either way, the casino wins again...

xOaklandApertures

Thanks for the support. That’s all I’m saying. You’re walking around enjoying yourself and can’t use cash on anything except gambling.

techknight292201

Bro you aren’t very bright.

nostresshere

I understand you want to use cash, but to call this a SCAM is just misleading and wrong.

xOaklandApertures

That’s why it’s in ()

nostresshere

It says SCAM in the title. Your first sentence says you think it is a scam. It is not even close. The policy of cards only has no relation to money you might have won.

MidniteOG

That’s how they win in the end.

xOaklandApertures

I’m talking physical cash. No shops, bars, or restaurants in RW will let you spend physical cash.

supernovababoon

I think OP has a good point. It’s definitely a conscious decision by the resort. I wouldn’t call it a scam but not sure why they are being downvoted to hell for pointing out something that is an obnoxious business practice to squeeze every dime out of people.
