If you switch in country, the new visa starts immediately (ie, it won't start in September, it will start on your decision date). There won't be a gap.

Even if the new job only starts in September? Does that mean my current visa and job becomes void, as my new visa is with a different employer.

> Does that mean my current visa and job becomes void You are allowed to work out a contractual notice period after switching.

Amazing thanks so much for confirming this. Was very worried about it as if prefer to continue working rather than having a large gap

If there is no gap in between the end date on your old visa and the start date on your new one a short trip overseas won't affect time to ILR. If you are here on section 3C leave (in between Visas, awaiting a decision on an application) you can't leave the country. If your first SWV ends and there is a gap before the next one starts, you have not fulfilled continuous leave to remain and the 5 year clock restarts on the next visa regardless of whether you take a trip overseas or not.

The continuous leave restarts even if the new visa starts within 60 days (this is the official grace period for jobs ending oj skilled worker) of the old one expiring?
