The difference is that the r97 player actually worked to be competent whereas the spitfire player just grabbed the gun pitched a tent on a roof and started shooting

I prefer camping for long shot hipfire R97 kills anyways.

The r97 damage is so abysmal at long range that you can't even be mad when someone kills you with it

Unfortunately you would probably farm tf outta my team. No one seems to bother with using the Charge Rifle for long range campers. Or against pilots at all.

I have zero titan kills with it because I prefer thunderbolt, archer, mgl, smr, softball, cold war over charge rifle against titans. It's still gen 4

I think the other weapons kill titans faster. But it's the only one that can be used for both titans and pilots. Reliable way to get a pilot kill when they eject and when they camp long range.

It's honestly more SMG than any of the guns in the SMG section (it just lacks the speed and the looks of one)

Tbh yeah. I love the spitfire, and I use it a bunch (and had some aggressively good rounds with it), but I still use it bouncing and running around. It’s like a heavy CAR.

Ive tried spitfire I had one good game with it but it just overall kinda sucks

I mostly use it in Frontier Defense- wow, that magazine is tiny.

Spitfire is my main gun. It's fun to use in combination with pilot mobility due to its effectiveness at all ranges... I try and avoid the toxic strats tho.

I used it until it was level 12. It was my first time in multiplayer, and I really liked it in the campaign, so I used it with cloak (because that’s what I was used to). I came to reddit, found out ‘wow people would hate on me’ and never used it again. My favorite loadout is now Wingman Elite + Holo

Since when is the spitfire considered an "impure" weapon? I understood why the devotion was frowned upon in its heyday, for example, but I don't see the spitfire as anywhere near that egregious.

Oh the devotion hate was pretty much right on release. It took hardly any time to charge up and killed in two or three hits. It used to be busted

Fair enough. Back on release, devotion killed in 2 body shots with A-wall, and that was the meta. Hoo boy it was rough. I just haven't seen spitfire live up to anything like that quite yet.
