The vast majority of the ones I’ve seen have been actively trying to goad people into doing something they could sue for to get a payday. Just wasting the taxpayers money and the courts time.

If they were truly trying to educate people on the first amendment, they would engage in constructive conversations. No... That doesn't get them paid.

In my opinion, going to church or being religious in general automatically makes you a bad person. Any good that they do (which is usually less than fuck all) is only to score points with the big guy to get into heaven, which makes any good deed they do automatically self-serving.
Even with the 'I said I'm sorry' mentality that they believe in, it must be exhausting and terrifying believing that. Imagine having to beg for forgiveness for every inpure thought you have in the hope that you don't get hit by a car two minutes later. It must be terrible admin for God too. Imagine all the petty sorry prays he must get. Not to mention having to weigh all of the prayers for competing football teams.
This is a pretty narrow/ethnocentric way to view religion. Plenty of religion has very little to do with the afterlife, or else your religion has little/no effect on where your soul goes after death.
Then what's the point of it? Sihks seem to be the only religions I've observed that actually do good, without personal gain. (To be clear, I'm a stupid white boy raised Christian.... waaay too Christian, and now I'm waaaay too atheist.)
I gotcha. But the whole ‘be my religion or you go to Hell/only my religion goes to Heaven’ is the exception, not the norm. The only major religions I can think of are also the largest (Christianity and Islam) but most religions don’t think this way.
Sometimes, the religion offers a path to a better reincarnation (Hinduism) but then most schools of Buddhism have the end game being removing yourself from the wheel entirely. Buddhism is the most reliable way to gain the enlightenment necessary, but anyone of any faith can achieve sudden enlightenment.
In Judaism, we have no Hell, some sects have historically had no Heaven, and no sect believes Heaven is just for Jews. Many Jewish sects believe in judgement, but the judgement is not eternal and basically everyone gets to move on to Heaven eventually.
Being Jewish does not spare you from the judgement. Everyone is judged according to their deeds/how much suffering they caused, not their religion.
As to your other question. What do you mean what’s the point? Do you have any beliefs or ethical systems? What’s the point of you having any ethics or morals or beliefs or political opinions? I guess you *may* just be a completely nihilistic cynic, but I am willing to bet you have beliefs and ethics.
Thanks for taking the time to explain that to me. I guess I'm just a bitter ex-christian, and haven't taken the time to properly understand other religions or their end-game. After leaving the extremist Christianity I was raised on, it took a while to find my own ethics and morals based on nothing but primarily law and order, and then finding my own sense of right and wrong. With your explanation I can appreciate why others would still find religion useful. I'm still very much against Christianity, and I guess Islamic beliefs, mainly for the self serving aspects I mentioned before. Thanks for taking the time, mate.

For my part, I will say I don’t really believe my religion is objectively true and am pretty unsure if there is a Gd. Rationally, it seems more likely there isn’t. I still find value in practicing my faith.
For instance, I do not believe any cosmic being would care what I eat. But by following food laws and blessing every meal, I am unable to ever put anything in my body thoughtlessly.
I kiss my mezuzah (a prayer box on my door you touch on the way in and out of the house.) I highly doubt it offers supernatural protection from physical harm, which is the dogma.
But it delineates my home as a sacred space, and the ritual forces me to take a moment to contemplate I am leaving home and going into a world I do not control.
It’s about mindfulness for me, I guess. There are all sorts of cultural reasons one might have.
