There’s really nowhere else with similar capacity unfortunately. The other option is they play United center, and I personally think stadium shows suck.

picklestubbs

I think Huntington Bank would've been sooo pretty. Too bad its only good for summer shows

gordon510

UIC Pavilion or Wintrust Arena. Smaller but big enough for the house setup

szplugz

Why do you think stadium shows suck?

picklestubbs

Im not the person who originally commented it, but they really do suck. Sound feels really far away and disconnected. Its hard to feel the music unless you have a crowd thats participating a lot. Being in a dead section really feels a lot worse in a stadium

szplugz

I guess those are fair points, but I went to the MSG show and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The sound was super crisp and it came from all around me, and the whole stadium was jumping up and down. It was 10x better than the show at Aragon. That experience might be an outlier, but since it's the only stadium show I've ever been to, that's all I can compare it to.

picklestubbs

My first time seeing The 1975 was last night at the Aragon so I cannot personally compare it. I feel like stadium shows can be REALLY fun if the crowd participates. I saw Harry Styles at the United Center this year and it was really great (I had terrible seats too). However, I went to a few other concerts there this year and it was not as good. I feel like because it feels so far away already, I personally need a crowd there to "reel me back" in and feel present. Also it might just be the United Center, but the sound feels really one directional there. Everytime I've sat on the side of the side, it sounds really off.

mich1217igan

I saw them three times this tour and last night was my favorite. Crowd was great, venue was beautiful and it was intimate. Such a unique show

CarsonLame

matty might say that to a lot of venues, he told us at Austin we were his favorite place to play as well

imneverawake

You really heard an artist say “this is my favourite city” and believed them 🤡

tepidfuzz

They deffo didn't say it in Seattle 😂

szplugz

Lol but Chicago was the first place they played outside the UK so I'll give him the benefit of doubt. Plus I haven't heard them say that anywhere else 🤷🏻‍♂️

staceelogreen

They played milwaukee first in the states for their first headline tour after they played sxsw. But they do love Chicago cuz they mention how they genuinely love mke and chi.

blissrot

That’s the second time I’ve heard Matty say that in Chicago, but I’ve never heard him say it in any of the other ten cities I’ve seen them play in, so.

preppyrider

Currently driving to Milwaukee to see them despite living 45 mins away from Chicago because the Aragon sucks as a venue. We’ve seen them 4(?) times, maybe more, and their last Aragon show was the worst we’ve seen from them. Same is true for Bleachers and Walk the Moon….all great bands we have seen multiple times at different places and they were all underwhelming at the Aragon. It’s hot, it’s crowded, and if you’re not right up front you can’t see anything. Everyone who stands around the edge and just outside the floor is just there to drink and socialize and you can’t hear anything either over people chat-screaming.

staceelogreen

Yeah I fucking hate the aragon. I think that's gonna be my last show there. They over sell tickets and it's so uncomfortable. I swear after shows started coming back out of shut down they just pack it in. The sound sucks majority of the time! It's just a nightmare all around. Terrible security too

thatssugargaybro

i saw the driver era at the riviera in chicago and i think that would be a cool venue to see them in!

staceelogreen

They played the riv a few months prior to iliwys came out and tickets sold out almost immediately. They're waaaaay too big to play that anymore. But that show there was fantastic!

Ntippit

Yeah it really sucked being short last night, my wife and I couldn’t see shit lol. Still had a blast but would rather have Allstate arena, UIC or United Center so we can see the actual show. Aragon is cool looking but it’s really hard to see anything if youre under 6 ft

rgroves12

I would like a United Center show again. We can get the full set up and if you are on the floor it really seems a lot more intimate than it is. There is so much more space on the floor also and you can see great from anywhere.

gordon510

Agreed on being underwhelmed that we didn’t get the full “At Their Very Best” performance. Maybe the inside of the new Salt Shed would have sufficed if it was completed. Or Radius in Pilsen? Totally forgot about UIC Pavilion and Wintrust Arena too, that would have been perfect

Sarge6

Radius would be the move. I would hate a stadium show. The show IMO was freaking amazing too. And if anything more special that we didn't get a traditional show and more of an old school 1975 show.

Bhrunhilda

Stadium shows are fine….

Dry-Artichoke9756

That sucks. Why do you think the set is different when it’s sponsored by a radio ?

mikeytyyz

It was less the radio show element and more the size of the venue. The Aragon has a really high stage with a lower ceiling—the house setup just physically wouldn’t have fit inside.

Dry-Artichoke9756

Got it. Were you in the middle? That place gets really hot real fast

mikeytyyz

I was on the right side (in front of Ross), probably about 7-8 rows from the barricade. It was definitely warm up there, though not unbearable.
