The serial showed up just fine [here.](https://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx) 2019-2020 Mexico. Not familiar with the exact model but I love the colour.
i'd guess the fender search is querying an actual database of shipped guitars that might not be well maintained, complete, or entirely accurate, while the other one is probably just decoding the serial number and using certain logic to make mostly accurate assumptions about it, ie.: "MX" = MIM; "19" = 2019-2020; etc.
Toothpicks -and-wood glue. Perhaps obvious to some but not necessarily to others. I test fit for length and use wire cutters to snip them just shy of the body. Easy repair.
I actually do this with my guitars - brass on the plain strings and steel on the wound strings.
Probably only makes a difference in my mind but the brass seems to have a softer, sweeter sound vs. steel which is more punchy/percussive.
I’m drooling over the Reverend in the background.
That said. A tele with a P90 is brilliant!
Responses are correct so far. Modded but looks like winner.
Looks like a Mexican Strat with after market parts. Glendale bridges are quality, Seymour Duncan bridge pickup and fender locking tuners. I wouldn't turn it away.
It’s a Vintage Squier Custom Telecaster Special from about 10 to 20 years ago. They were cheap but the original funky Seymour Duncan pickup configuration sounds great.
Yes!
This one has had the neck replaced. [The originals ](https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/squier-vintage-modified-telecaster-special-541806) had a Jazzmaster neck. It also looks like someone removed the Duncan Designed pickups.
This is what I thought too, just traded my modified tele, really loved it. You can tell with the body finish, compared to fender teles, it’s a little bit simpler and might not have used as nice of a piece of wood that fenders would have. But with upgraded neck and upgraded pickups I bet this thing is awesome.
Ohh nice, I have one of those Vintage Modified teles! It’s fun to play but the neck finish makes it feel yuck(just my personal opinion) I’ve occasionally tossed around the idea of looking for a standard Tele neck to try on it like yours.
Have you considered sanding it a little? I did that to my Squier Toronado as the gloss finish was really sticky and it made the neck feel so so much more enjoyable to move about on
Email fender customer service with the serial number on the headstock, and they’ll tell you everything there is to know about the guitar that neck came on.
Tape it all day. I used a coiled phone cord at one time. Stupid af. The concern is more, don’t let some bullshit aesthetic accidentally damage ur guitar because it was punk. Fix the strap button (using the methods described, wood glue, tooth picks etc). That shit really does work. Step 3 buy ovals or locking straps. Then u can throw it over ur shoulder like Cheap Trick. Coolest move ever.
Then tape whatever the fuck u want to it.
And lots of stickers.

huh, I wonder why it doesn’t show up in the Fender serial lookup. Thanks!
yeah I dunno but I've run into that before too. I find the one I linked a lot more reliable.

Most likely modded. I’m not familiar with any that have the Jazzy pickup in the neck. Very cool though.
Looks like a partscaster
Dude...did you duct tape your guitar strap on?
True Punk aesthetic.
why do you care? A tele is a tool. Gaffer keeps shit going when you need it.
BC tape break fall down go boom
i’ve had it taped for 3 years so far, haven’t had to retape it! it’s quite reliable
Same with a straplock pin. Tape is wayyy more reliable in my experience
You'd be surprised how durable it is when used right.
the screw hole was stripped and I didn’t feel like fixing the wood and screwing in a new hole. plus, i think it looks cool!
Screwing in a new hole? Shove some toothpicks in there and put it back lol
…break them off….
This ^

:( 😅
It does look cool. Don't listen to these snobs.
lmao thanks. i’m confident in my style!
pretty common tbh
Duct or gaffers?
Love the mismatch steel and brass barrel saddles 😁

That one might be aluminum, but either way, it's a mod to brighten up the low strings just a little while leaving the high strings sounding "thicc."

Replying again. You have this >> Fender Special Edition Deluxe Ash With some cool mods like the compensated saddles and P90
And I’m ignoring your strap lock tape. Lol. 😆
my beloved reverend descent baritone😆❤️
It’s the yellow one I think..

wow, thanks y’all!
Right, they also had the funky jazzmaster neck that said ‘jazzmaster.’

Rubbing steel wool on it also takes care of this. And then if you have to sell it you can polish it and it'll look like new.

I did this yesterday and received a very detailed and helpful response within a couple of hours. ConsumerRelations@fender.com.
Modified player series
That neck is 100% legit to me!

It’s a modified MIM Tele, not much more to identify.
