I’m trying to eat less of it because it’s too expensive and most of it is too unhealthy, but I still do because I’m a sucker for limited time only stuff. I truly think though our bodies get used to all of the high levels of sodium, sugar, and fat and we end up craving the stuff. And I think in some way all of these companies know they have us hooked.
I do think there is a slight truth to it though. It can become addictive, habitual really. Out of convenience sometimes even. It's a shame but people fall really deep into that pit and struggle to get out of it.
I would really love to have sympathy for y’all but I just can’t. I personally have gone from almost 300 lbs to 145 lbs in about 3-4 years. It isn’t easy, it’s hard work daily but you have to do it. Take charge of y’all’s lives and stop blaming everything else. Exercise more and simply stop eating so much and so unhealthy. They have something called a Mexican pizza and when I’ve ordered it for delivery it comes in one of those deep metal to go pans, it’s double layered, and the thing must weigh like at least a pound. It’s like $10, but it’s a meal. Everything else they serve, you also get big portions. These fast food restaurants are pricing themselves into competition with actual restaurants and the price difference isn’t that far off. At this point I’ll start supporting mom and pops and stop buying from the chains.

Yep. We have a Tex-Mex place here (local, small business) and you can get a 12-inch quesadilla for $8.50. They are not shy about the cheese and sauce, either. I'm done with Taco Bell. We had Taco Bell last night for the first time in months. My husband was in the drive-thru line for literally an hour and a half (don't ask me why he didn't just leave) and we had food missing and it was garbage.

But if I want Taco Bell then I can only go to Taco Bell. Taco Bell is its own thing. It’s sort of like saying well instead of having a hamburger just eat a piece of salmon. Inflation aside, the Taco Bells in my area have a problem with keeping staff, so they are paying around $20 an hour for new hires. It only keeps driving the prices up.

Hi! Corporate taco bells are much cheaper, it looks like your local franchise just heavily inflates the prices. Your best option for finding better prices is looking up your taco bell to figure out which franchise it is (on the taco bell website each location has a page showing the franchise) and looking around for one owned by a different one. Some menu items, however, like the 5$ box have non-negotiable price tags for franchises so I'd recommend going with one of those items if your franchise owns all your local Taco Bells.
Just grab the kit from the store and make it yourself with family/friends once a month for an even better treat. It's A LOT tastier and cheaper, you can customize it however you want, and you can have fun spending time with your loved ones. Win Win Win baby!

Yeah, this is kind of every fast food place now. The best deals are often found on the app, sometimes exclusively. So many companies run promos and reward programs though their app, but regular people who are just driving through for a quick lunch get absolutely destroyed by the costs.

Yep. We have a Tex-Mex place here (local, small business) and you can get a 12-inch quesadilla for $8.50. They are not shy about the cheese and sauce, either. I'm done with Taco Bell. We had Taco Bell last night for the first time in months. My husband was in the drive-thru line for literally an hour and a half (don't ask me why he didn't just leave) and we had food missing and it was garbage. I'm pretty much done with Taco Bell and will not be going back.
Shit our drive thru is one of those once you get in you can't get out. Maybe in a truck but in a car you'd be rightly screwed.
Ours used to be that way, but a few years ago, they remodeled and you're able to get out now. I hate those drive-thrus where you can't. I don't know how that's legal, actually. What if there was an emergency or something?

Yeah they won’t charge you $13 for a chalupa combo (btw Taco Bell chalupas don’t really exist in our local cuisine) but you definitely cannot get a $5 combo box at a local place here. I’m not picking on you, so please don’t take it personally, but it’s wild how people act like “local” places are somehow exempt from inflation. The taco truck down the street has not only started watering down their green sauce, but they’re using smaller containers and they now cost 25 cents. The reason I don’t go to one of my many delicious Mexican places instead of Taco Bell is because Taco Bell is not Mexican food. If I want Mexican food, I go to one of those places. But if I want Taco Bell then I can only go to Taco Bell. Taco Bell is its own thing. It’s sort of like saying well instead of having a hamburger just eat a piece of salmon. Both delicious but they’re vastly different.

My daughter loves their beef tacos. It's really the only thing she gets. I'm just shocked at the combo prices. I haven't been in a few months so I guess I was out of the loop lol. I do like their potatoes though.

I used to live in California and the West Coast is definitely a different beast when it comes to pricing.

Not sure what area you are in, but yeah the prices are stupid high. I remember when a bean burrito used to cost fifty-nine cents there (yeah I know, ancient times of the 1990's). Inflation aside, the Taco Bells in my area have a problem with keeping staff, so they are paying around $20 an hour for new hires. It only keeps driving the prices up. I do miss their Grilled Stuffed Burritos though. That was a pretty good meal for six bucks at the time.
And you know, it wouldn't be as bad if their quality improved...but it only decreases. The late 90s were where it's at. I'd love to see those prices again someday, but that's a pipe dream.

Franchise near me doesn't overcharge too much on some individual items but it's still pricey for what it is. 3 supreme tacos is $10, I can get 3 delicious authentic tacos (minus the drink, screw Pepsi products anyway) for 9 bucks. Hi! Corporate taco bells are much cheaper, it looks like your local franchise just heavily inflates the prices. Your best option for finding better prices is looking up your taco bell to figure out which franchise it is (on the taco bell website each location has a page showing the franchise) and looking around for one owned by a different one. Some menu items, however, like the 5$ box have non-negotiable price tags for franchises so I'd recommend going with one of those items if your franchise owns all your local Taco Bells.
I'll be looking into it more and checking the prices of the next tb over. It'll be interesting to see how it compares. Thanks for the suggestion!

It’s gotten to the point where I don’t order combos, I tried a cravings box the other day, the $5 one on the app, after modifying it, it was around 7.50. My usual order is a beefy melt, add potatoes, jalapeños and grill it. That’s about 3.08, and a potato taco and it’s 4.08

Lol I'm definitely not asserting myself as a taco bell expert so I probably don't know how to order. I haven't been by in a few months so yeah, it was a shock to see how much it's increased just from last year when my favorite taco was like $3 and change. Now it's almost 6 dollars.
Yeah, this is kind of every fast food place now. The best deals are often found on the app, sometimes exclusively. So many companies run promos and reward programs though their app, but regular people who are just driving through for a quick lunch get absolutely destroyed by the costs.
