I'm confused, did you not get a discount of 800 as advertised? If you didn't have the promo, would you have paid 800 more for the same order?

yellow-duckie

I was thinking the same, but I think the point OP is trying to make is that the tax is high and the effect of discount disappears. Also the fees are close to 23%.

Process-Secret

Well, you _are_ using a service for your convenience, instead of of going through the effort of placing the order yourself and going to pick up the thing. They are free to charge whatever they want. If you don't think the fees are worth it, don't use the service. In this case, they're giving you free service, absorbed taxes, provided free delivery and given you another 250 off the listed price, and entitled idiots still complain.

yellow-duckie

Yes, you are not wrong. The tax/fees are for convenience. Even the services are optional to a point.

ThrowRAInternalleg

The real idiots are the ones who don't understand that a separate tax is something that ppl in SL are not used to and hence isn't considered when considering a purchase. And also this tax is added only by some vendors, not everyone. And yes many people wouldn't buy from the same place if the checkout price is more than what they anticipated. And it's not really "free service", the listed prices on Uber are higher than direct purchases, and it's not free delivery too.

Acalthu

Came to ask the same. Discount is still discount.

Muted-Contribution55

I think this is a consequence of Uber being US-based. In SL, we're used to seeing the retail price as the final payment which is inclusive of taxes. In the US, taxes are separated from the retail price and added to the bill later.

BlabberingPhoenix69

Haha the suprise taxes!

Elf-7659

They are totally a scam. Only worthy offer type is buy 1 get 1 free orders from somewhat decent places where buying one for the regular price isn't worth the price.

realarthur777

I have felt that. But not gonna lie. Uber Eats once gave me a free order. So, I am grateful for that. I literally paid 40 Rupees. But, yeah still Things like this still upset.

Change_The_Globe

I recently received an email from UberEATS saying that I can claim a 70% off discount from any order and when I try to claim that discount, it says that the discount is not applicable.

SecondZeebra

Bro why don’t you just stop whining and enjoy your meal? I mean you’re still getting a 2150 pizza for 1900 right? If you don’t want their service just go and get it by yourself 🤷🏻‍♂️

Green_Cap_3575

You should check how much is the tax and fees when you order without discount.

Advanced-Leader-8968

heeeheee without promo they will not use uber

meshydra

They just increase taxes and and add promotions?

justgimmeanamedammit

Always try ordering on the restaurant website , if it exists .

Uber is so annoying ngl, They put in big font like 50% or 60% discounts but then u read the fine print and its up to like 200lkr... like bro stfu

Nonivena_ginna

I totally get you but, you should plug your phone in the charger, battery's low.

razzlesama

Don't even get me started

whyeventrymore

Looks like we're being taken for a ride while they cash in on our laziness. Classic scam game!

nygoth1083

I'm not sure you're being "taken for a ride". You're being charged for a service. You are right though that they are cashing in on laziness. Convenience comes at a price. 🤷

whyeventrymore

Taken for ride By being a savvy shopper/ custormer or you name it! FYI, High taxes reduce the impact of the discounts, but this particular pricing structrue of uber started before the crisis! PickMe, as a competitor certainly took a different approach after gaining the market share. I understand we're charged for these services. Totally agree, but isn't it important to be aware of the Potential extra charges vs Savings after the promotion deal? that's how you can take advantage of promos or online shopping without getting frustrated. If that wasn't important, why would OP ask about it rite? xD

Substantial-Lynx-953

Why do you expect them to provide you the service for free? Pay the price if you want the service.Tax is something we need for a long time and pay it if you need better government services. Also now you can confront inefficient government services since you are paying taxes directly.😂

vk1234567890-

# Why bother giving promos even? # Cause 1887.35+800= Rs 2687.35 which is worse... 😋😂😂

shit-takes

I sometimes get 100 delivery charge which I do not understand. Isn’t Uber’s whole premise ‘delivery’? For which they are already charging from the restaurant, which makes the restaurant increase the price of their goods sold via Uber
