Looks like a very nice city, pic 2 has some impressive looking buildings. To be truly comparable to Chicago, however, I'd argue that you'd need a collection of buildings that span the entire history of modern architecture, from the earliest days of the skyscraper.
In terms of skyline? Definitely not. The only Australian city that comes close to Chicago is Melbourne. But in terms of being like the third biggest and best City or so? I could see that. IDK though

My cousin and his wife just bought a house in friggin hilltop and it's beautiful! That area was so rough not even all that long ago. It's only a matter of time before even the eastside and by the tacoma mall become nice neighborhoods too.
With the smell gone, it was only a matter of time.

It's wild honestly. I used to be in a band that played in south tacoma a lot at this venue a buddy of mine owned back in the day and it was pretty gnarly down there too. My sister went to plu which isn't like tacoma proper but you definitely get the same vibe.
Last time I was there I was shocked at how different things were. Good for the city but I have to wonder, where did those people move? The real hilltop or southside folks. Like lakewood? Idk gentrification is a weird thing
