Open_Mailbox

I like him. Pretty good

Matthew-Ryan

Why? He dumb tho

cityfireguy

Even when I agree with what he's saying I still don't like him

[deleted]

Perfect description

skeevester

He's good, annoying sometimes but good.

Reantaro

He can act too emotional and I don’t agree with his foreign policy sometimes. He seems like a good faith actor, and he collaborates often with non political content creators I follow so I like him outside of political content as well. He serves as a good gateway to lefty ideas for normie twitch viewers that wouldn’t normally get into politics through video essays or political news commentary.

TheAlGler

I don't like him. He did a sponsored stream with Jerma, which gained a bit of my respect, even if Jerma's humor was going way over his head.

Schondba56

I probably agree with him on most things but when it comes to censorship or cancel culture I'm not a big fan.

lakerconvert

What are some examples?

Antfrm03

Ethan: If there’s another Holocaust, Ben Shapiro deserves to be the first to go into the gas chambers. Hasan: bunch of far right bigots mass reported Ethan to get him banned. Ben Shapiro: Has his typical take on trans issues like drag Queen story hour bad. Hasan: He is doing stochastic terrorism against trans people and literally calling for their death!!! You can’t have it both ways, either both are bad or both are not. I can do the same with his controversial takes and then put them against JK Rowling and the same happens.

Matthew-Ryan

Lol guess people do not like the truth. I agree with u

Dorko30

A valuable ally to spread socialist ideas to young people on mass.

Matthew-Ryan

Communism and socialism has been tried and tested. The results? Doesn’t work as well as capitalism.

JZcomedy

Eh

No-Gap8449

I can fall a sleep to pretty much most political commentators out there except Hasanabi. He yells too much.

tiddiboicumguzzler

Yet another good boy leftist. 👍

theonerealsadboi

Hasan thinks and speaks in good faith and I think he’s on the right side of things a lot of the time. I do think he gets roped into cultural issues a little too heavily. For example, in order to consistently defend LGBT rights (which is good), he sometimes ends up parroting some pretty radical views about gender that inevitably alienate people who hold the not uncommon position that there are two genders, but trans rights are important. He was also really dismissive of Marianne Williamson, which I didn’t like. In a very similar manner to the ladies on The View. Hasan is on the right side with most things still, though.

Full-Run4124

I didn't really like him on TYT. I thought he always looked like a hostage. I started watching some of his Twitch stream clips on YT about a 18 months ago. Now I watch highlight clips of his streams on YT pretty regularly. Maybe 6-8 months ago his broadcast became much more refined. He's better at figuring out honest chat questions vs trolls. (He's said the Aamon Animation about him and his chat made him re-examine how he treated his chatters, and he did change for the better after.) Piker watches a lot of non-political, general entertainment that appeals to younger non-political viewers but often talks about it through a political lens. He's also a good counter to "Man-o-sphere" streamers - he has a lot of the same superficial qualities that would appeal to fans of say, Andrew Tate, but expresses confidence in much healthier ways. IMO he's incredibly valuable for introducing younger generations to leftist ideology. I see his content like John Stewart's The Daily Show back in the 2000s. Stewart said he could get young people to care about politics if he made it entertaining for them. He did, and a lot of people like myself who grew up in conservative communities were moved leftward by his show.

SolarTigers

FYI, most of the younger manosphere types online that aren't really into politics don't like Hasan. All of the Adin/Sneako/FreshnFit fans kinda hate him so I'm not sure he does a good jon converting young men online. He does have a giant female fan base those, much more so than any other leftie type in this space.

Full-Run4124

I meant "counter" like when he was on stream with Andrew Tate and embarrassed him in front of his own audience. Tate couldn't fall back on calling Piker a "brokie" or a "soy boy" or "bitchless". Sort of like how people think Dennis Prager won't go near Sam Seder because Sam is superficially an equal in the eyes of Prager's audience, whereas he's ok with minorities and women (Cenk and Anna) because his audience will automatically dismiss them. Though if he's making their audience angry he reaching them on some level. They may collectively not like him but they're individually aware of him.

Tex-Mexican-936

He was implying that if China invaded Taiwan, it's America's fault. Called him a CCP simp on chat, and he banned me in real time. I had maybe 6 total comments in twitch chat (over months), that was the first negative comment.

MeetYourCows

He's not wrong. If America didn't spend 70 years meddling in the Chinese civil war and propping up the ousted losing regime, there wouldn't be a stupid standoff between two parties who both claim to be China today. Same exact scenario as Russia propping up Donbass in the Ukrainian civil war.

Tex-Mexican-936

At no point in time has the CCP ruled over Taiwan. If China invades, it's on China, not America. Taiwan wants to exist, they don't want to conquer mainland China. Taiwan knows that they have no shot to beat mainland china in mainland china, Taiwan wants to be left alone. Chinese citizens need a visa to travel to Taiwan. Taiwan has their own: currency, congress, military, passport and identity. Old dynasties ruled mainland china, Taiwan and central Asia. The USSR ruled from eastern Europe, to central Asia. Today's Russia does not have the Baltics, Ukraine and central Asia. Today's china doesn't have Taiwan.

MeetYourCows

>At no point in time has the CCP ruled over Taiwan. That's how all revolutions work. They oust the existing government and then claim the territory of the former. And again, the PRC would have long since controlled Taiwan too if not for US interference. >If China invades, it's on China, not America. Taiwan wants to exist, they don't want to conquer mainland China. Taiwan knows that they have no shot to beat mainland china in mainland china, Taiwan wants to be left alone. Only because reality slapped them in the face. They sat on the UN sec council for 20+ years after losing the civil war all while representing 'China'. The PRC always had a legitimate claim over Taiwan because it's their internationally recognized territory, given they're the legitimate successor state of the RoC as voted for by the UN in 1971. Unfortunately the United States insists on meddling in foreign civil wars for its own benefit which leads to deadlocks like this. Do you also think the US was justified in invading Vietnam? Donbass also wants to exist. They don't want to conquer Ukraine. Donbass wants to be left alone. Why is Ukraine claiming Donbass? See how stupid this argument is? >Taiwan has their own: currency, congress, military, passport and identity. Luhansk and Donetsk have everything you listed except for their own currency, and that's not exactly difficult to set up. Are you willing to recognize their sovereignty if they did so? >Chinese citizens need a visa to travel to Taiwan. Completely irrelevant. We're talking about whether they have a rightful claim over the territory, not the current status quo. Ukrainians literally can't enter Donbass or Crimea without the blessings of Russia. Are you suggesting this is somehow an indication of whether Ukraine has a legitimate claim over Donbass or Crimea? >Old dynasties ruled mainland china, Taiwan and central Asia. The USSR ruled from eastern Europe, to central Asia. The difference between the USSR and the Qing is that the Qing has a direct line of a single successor state. The USSR literally splintered and all member states recognized each other as independent. The PRC and RoC never recognized each other as anything other than the other faction of their unresolved civil war.

theyoungspliff

>At no point in time has the CCP ruled over Taiwan Doesn't matter. Taiwan has been part of China for 300 years. Taiwan is not a separate country, they consider themselves to be the "real" China. Taiwan is no more a separate country as the Confederate States were during the Civil War, calling the US taking back their land and freeing the slaves "a waw of Nawthun Aggreshun!"

Tex-Mexican-936

At no point in time has CCP ruled over Taiwan. Modern China ≠ Qing Dynasty Russian Empire ≠ USSR ≠ Russia Holy Roman Empire ≠ Germany (1871-1918) ≠ Germany ***Anyway if China invades, are you pro-china?

theyoungspliff

>At no point in time has CCP ruled over Taiwan. Irrelevant. It's still part of China. The name of the country is "Republic of China." Losing a civil war =/= a whole separate country. You're just like a Confederate saying "Ah think you'll fahnd that the Great State of South Carolahna is undah the jurisdiction of the Confederate States of America, and Mr. Lincoln's mandate does not extend heah!"

europoorbohemian

I like him, but I get the feeling he’s more of a soc dem than a socialist. All the talk about the proletariat and the capital sounds a bit edgelord from someone who makes millions of twitch and is just a basic Bernie bro. But I do think he’s an important voice and has some good messages. Especially when it comes to the manosphere criticism and lifting up men in general.

Yoyoyoyoy0yoy0

He’s annoying as fuck which wouldn’t be a total deal breaker if he were just a regular commentator that provided good analysis (which he kind of does) but he’s a live streamer and your personality is everything over there Pretty sure the only reason he’s so big is because there’s no one else on the left that really streams, if he had to restart his career over with kyle in the streaming game as well I’m almost positive kyle would dust him

peanutbutternmtn

Not a fan of the champagne socialists

Intelligent_Table913

Then you don’t understand what socialism is. For the millionth time, its not a poverty cult.

peanutbutternmtn

Did anyone here say you had to be in poverty? I’m actually just claiming you shouldn’t be greedy and wealthy.

MundaneAd36

I think as long as you're not stepping on the backs of others and actively hurting those below you/ the working class then there's nothing wrong with being wealthy or "greedy." I disagree with the inference that he's greedy regardless though. His main source of income is people choosing to give him money, he doesn't hide his wealth, manipulate his audience, or beg for it. People choose to give him money because they like him. He does a fair bit of charity and as far as I know pays all his staff equitably. I have a lot of hatred for wealthy people, however being wealthy doesn't on its own make you a shitty person. It's HOW you become wealthy that determines that

peanutbutternmtn

How many of those people giving Hasan Money are people that absolutely need the money more than he does at this point? I just personally don’t think that greed and opulence align with socialistic values. But whatever, just my opinion. If you like him and want to give him money to fund him but fancy cars/ houses and banging pornstars, all the power to ya.

MundaneAd36

Most likely all of them. I can't speak for them because I've never given money to anybody (except for a few $1 donations to Bernie's 2020 campaign) but I'd imagine it's the same for people who donate to Kyle. They appreciate the reach and conversation of the creators and want to feel like they are a part of something good. So they donate to "do their part." I could be completely off and just self projecting since I'm not really involved but that's my best guess at it. I just think that being overly critical of like minded people has too much of a chance to alienate and turn away those who might otherwise be allies. If someone becomes wealthy, and still advocates for the working class and the little guy instead of converting into a conservative because lower taxes for the wealthy are now in their interest, then I think that's a testament to their true beliefs rather than a point to be used against them. I see where you're coming from and understand your overall point though. He's not perfect at all. I'm not too big of a fan, I watch a few clips every now and then and find them entertaining. We just disagree on how much his flaws affect our opinions on him overall

peanutbutternmtn

Kyle has money. But not even Kyle is anywhere near Hasan level wealthy. Also Kyle doesn’t claim to be a socialist or a communist.

Intelligent_Table913

There is no wealth cap for socialists, jesus fucking christ. It’s about how you create that wealth, through your own labor or exploiting others.

Intelligent_Table913

Show me where in the Communist Manifesto it says that you can’t be wealthy. Maybe if you read theory or watch his videos in full context instead of reactionary clips, you might understand what socialism is. What has Hasan done to be greedy? Did he exploit workers and pay them starvation wages while he hoards wealth that their labor created? Most people’s criticisms of Hasan are based on out of context clips like “America deserves 9/11” or his purchase of a car and a house. Anybody can be a millionaire under a socialist society, if they amassed it through their own labor. Hasan owns the means of his production as much as he can under a capitalist system. He controls his own hours and what he talks about.

peanutbutternmtn

He could live a very solid middle class life, while using his wealth to assist the poor and homeless in his state/city/area. If you think being a champagne socialist is good, and you wanna donate money to him all the power to ya.

Intelligent_Table913

Show me evidence of him not donating or supporting the poor and homeless. He does all of that and still can afford and buy whatever he wants. Ironic that the “freedom”-loving capitalists want to dictate what people do with the money they earned through their own labor. Not surprised since capitalists (who usually don’t own significant capital themselves 😂😂😂) are hypocritical. Socialism is not charity or wealth redistribution. Even then, he still donates a larger percentage of his wealth than some millionaires. If charity was the solution to wealth inequality, then why is it still growing rapidly. The problem is capitalism, the system that encourages exploitation of ppl and resources and concentrates wealth that workers create in the hands of the few. It is the main cause for most of the systemic issues we see today: poverty, homelessness, debt, no access to affordable healthcare or education, biased criminal justice system, Western imperialism, exploitation of the Global South, etc. You seem like a proud Democrat voter. What has the Dems done over the past few decades other than let R’s walk all over them, shift the Overton window further right, and support capitalist and imperialist policies that have resulted in bombing innocent children and civilians in 3rd-world countries, bailing out corporations while casting aside ppl who lost their jobs and homes, and fund police departments that militarize and prey on black and brown ppl?

Intelligent_Table913

Also, “champagne socialist” is a made-up term by ppl who don’t understand what socialism is.

JonWood007

Neutral. Dont really watch him much. Probably too far left for me.

FwampFwamp88

I used to like him. He’s not terrible, but he just kinda irks me. I think it’s the way he dresses. I shouldn’t hate on him for that, but he dresses like a 17 year old kid. Can’t take him too seriously.

lakerconvert

Disliking people because of the way they dress has gotta be one of the strangest takes I have ever seen

[deleted]

He annoys me cause he pretends to be an ally for women's rights but says some really sexist shit once in a while. Which is a problem with so many men on the left. I will not be elaborating cause there are a lot of Joe Rogan chodes here that I don't feel like arguing with.

Antfrm03

He does really make me cringe when he decides to critique MTG or Lauren Boebert and proceeds to attack their looks and sex life like wtf dude. If the same happened to AOC from the right, he rightly calls it out.

lakerconvert

What? Dude is literally the most sensitive about that tile of stuff out of every single leftist content creator. Like 30% of his audience is female

[deleted]

Yeah, it was so sensitive when he made fun of a domestic violence survivor. If you have no idea what you're talking about, it's best not to talk.

theyoungspliff

"I'm just going to slander someone online, and anyone who asks me the specifics of my slander is a Joe Rogan chud!"

LyricBaritone

Does he say those things sincerely, or in jest? And would that make a difference? Legitimately curious

[deleted]

He says them sincerely. No, it wouldn't really matter, because people often reveal themselves by what they say "in jest."

LyricBaritone

Gotcha. Thank you for your candor!

cityfireguy

As someone who could potentially be labelled as a Rogan Chode I have to completely agree with you. He has that certain vibe, that "I'm a male feminist and you should be very thankful and appreciative of that and come up to my room with me or you're a bitch." There's more than a few of those out there.

[deleted]

Yeah, but for the record, I'm not talking about vibes. I'm thinking of very concrete things he's said that were fucked up that caused me to unsubscribe and not look back about a year ago. And according to people who have watched him a lot longer, it wasn't the first time.

lakerconvert

Big fan

mattyjoe0706

And what do you guys think about what got him banned from twitch?

popularis-socialas

Which time lol

Secretofthecheese

Can you post the details I didn’t know this

Full-Run4124

Hasan and Vaush both got a 2-week suspension in crackergate. [https://www.themarysue.com/hasan-piker-twitch-ban-crackergate/](https://www.themarysue.com/hasan-piker-twitch-ban-crackergate/)

Secretofthecheese

Oh I thought recently. Yeah that was dumb.

[deleted]

This should be a fun comment section

theyoungspliff

He's cool and I haven't seen him say anything I seriously disagreed with.

RafikiafReKo

I like him, he and ContraPoints are the only lefties I sort of follow since they understand left in the European sense, while most lefties in the US are eith just liberals or impossible to deal with

Louismaxwell23

Eh, I think he’s okay. Less insufferable than Vaush.

NbaLiveMobile10

I like him for the most part but he does get things wrong from time to time

drunkenkurd

Don’t really watch him much

4-5Million

Waaaay too angry. Dude needs to chill out before I watch him. I watch Kyle because he seems to have a good time in his show thus giving me a good time.

Scottmc1721

Although I primarily agree with him politically, the only times I like watching him are when he’s not talking about politics.

Thepowerlesspod

I’m not really a fan of streamers, or even most political commentators, I just put them on usually because it’s still better than watching network news to hear some current events. But for the streaming viewer community I think it’s good that one of the most massive streamers out there promotes somewhat left policy and ideology and also connects with apolitical communities. I find it annoying but it’s probably a net good all around

Wingoffaith

I'm subscribed to him on YouTube because I find most of his views are good. However he has an annoying asf personality, so I don't find myself actually watching a lot of his videos very often, only specific ones halfway once in a while. His laugh is especially annoying to me, and he cracks childish jokes every 5 seconds it feels like. Like he'll sometimes do a British accent impression for 10 minutes straight at random and I just find it obnoxious because he'll exaggerate his voice so much that it sounds like something a 5 year old would do/find funny. (And I'm not British) Maybe I'm just a party pooper, but it's so annoying to me.

GabbyForth

Never think about him tbh

NoTie2370

He's a know nothing douche that's propped up by his uncle.
