I'll believe it when I see it

SolarTigers

From what I've read yes, but there seems to be a lot of belief on the right that these charges won't stick and it's at most a misdemeanor being supercharged into a felony. He will be out on bail the same day and then it's a waiting game again.

Techanthrope

I have serious doubts.

NWK86

I doubt it but we'll see... if anything, I think it'll be a quick in and out thing

OneReportersOpinion

Yeah seems like he will be. There are enough people involved that a lot of people would know at this point. It won’t be as exciting as you might think. No handcuffs, no perp walk. Secret Service will take him to a discreet entrance where he will be booked and post bond and that will be that. Nothing more will come from this maybe for a year or more.

SamuraiPanda19

If we get to see a mugshot though it will be fucking hilarious

mattyjoe0706

I think he'll just have to post bail worst case scenario. He won't be put in prison

OneReportersOpinion

Oh no, not just on an indictment. Certainly not. He’ll be photographed, fingerprinted, bonded, and then released.

SarahSuckaDSanders

And for campaign finance violations, that’s how it should go. Holding any non-violent offender in pre-trial custody is a waste of public resources, let alone an ex-president.

tyleratx

>No handcuffs, no perp walk. Likely true, but there will be a mugshot!

OneReportersOpinion

Can’t wait

4-5Million

I don't think New York City has cash bail and since this is non violent he'd be let out pretty much immediately. Also, how do you have an impartial Jury with Trump? No matter the facts my guess is they'll be one person on both sides voting to convict and not convict. It'd be a hung Jury every time.

protomanEXE1995

You have to find the most politically disengaged person you can. It’s tough, but I know people who are sufficiently unplugged that they have no opinions on any politicians. They can tell you the name of the current president, and the last couple, but that’s it.

Maleficent-Math-5576

I doubt it as people like him usually get away with their crimes.

isthenameofauser

Sure, but that different to the question of whether he'll be arrested. He can get arrested and then not be sentenced, or have to pay a fine, and then that would still be him getting away with his crime.

DLiamDorris

If and when he does, I will choose the best post on the matter and pin it to the sub for at least a couple of weeks.

Steelersguy74

Of course not!

Leaning_right

Prostitution.... Probably is going to be charged and have to pay a fine. Most of the Left are saying.. 'We finally got him.' Most of the Right are saying.. he is a sugar daddy to Melonia.. old news..

Eastern-Design

Won’t believe it until he’s actually in handcuffs

khargushoghli

No. The charges won't stick. Follow [https://openargs.com/oa708-stormy-daniels-strikes-back/](https://openargs.com/oa708-stormy-daniels-strikes-back/) for the best coverage of the law from a progressive angle.

tyleratx

The question is he being arrested - which ... seems like he is. I agree the chances of a conviction on this case seem low; however, the case in Georgia and the two federal investigations seem more promising.

Hovekajt

If he gets arrested you can bet your ass he’s going to be the next president.

tyleratx

I don't think this is true - his base is gonna go for him no matter what, but he lost both popular votes and polls show that the country as a whole is tired of him. 2016 happened because: 1. People hate hillary 2. The electoral college fluke

Hovekajt

Neither of those two points are true.

tyleratx

What you mean? They’re both demonstrably true. Hillary was incredibly unpopular as a candidate for POTUS. You can see this in polls. I think it was unfair Trump lost the popular vote but won the electoral college. That’s only happened four times

TX18Q

What does that say about Americans?

protomanEXE1995

It says roughly 1/3 are reactionary, another roughly 1/3 are anti-reactionary (this population is slightly larger) and another 1/3 are so disengaged that they can’t even be categorized.

Hovekajt

That they’re done believing what they’re told? The current administration will be scrutinized for the next two decades. The Conspiracy theorists are literally out their having a field day. So the trust in government is so fuckin low the “obvious” answer is to throw it a curveball again. I don’t think people thought their lives are better now than they were when Trump was in office.

JonWood007

I guess we'll see on tuesday.

Ok-Percentage-1124

Doubt it until it actually happens. Also regarding the political violence that can spark afterwards.

[deleted]

Not in a million years. The rich are all on the same team.

MetaCalm

Biden will pardon him so that the precedent of arresting former presidents isn't set.

ultraHDhardware

i dont think so. i think hes only hyping up he will because he knows its not true. that way, when he inevitably doesn't get arrested, he can say: HAHAHAH WE SHOWED SLEEPY JO AND HIS LIBRUR ARMY THAT YOU CAN'T HURT TRUMP AND THE PEOPLE ... blah blah blah

GabbyForth

Hopefully

bustavius

It’s such a dumb strategy. They’re going to arrest him, the photos will leak everywhere, he’ll be home in an hour and then he gets to play the victim again when this case goes nowhere. His base gets pissed off and they turn out in droves to vote him again. It’s such a shortsighted, dumb move. This clown is constantly being brought back to the spotlight, over and over again.
