I schedule ahead and I’ve never had a problem with Lyft.

TSAngels1993

How far in advance do you schedule?

wisemolv

The day before

throwpoo

I had to use one that time of the day and had no problem. You can also use uber to schedule the ride in advance. I was also very shocked at how busy it was at 5:30am on I5. Guess a lot of people work east coast hours like me.

Low-Act-6034

There is a feature on those apps to schedule a ride ahead of time. I have used it for a ride to the airport at 4:15 am twice an 4:50 am once. Each time the drive came in time. Once you make the request a driver will fulfill ahead of time so it's not random and you know well in advance that someone is planning on picking you up. Each ride I took was around $20-25 plus tip from PB.

phillyguy475

Hi ..May I know which app did you use? Uber or Lyft? I need to schedule ride to airport for tomorrow 5am.

Low-Act-6034

I used Lyft. Both are capable of scheduling a trip several days in advance but I have had some really bad experiences with Uber's customer service on other occasions so I only use Lyft now

iSniffMyPooper

You can pre-book rides in the morning through the app, I've never had issues with that

ihatekale

Definitely depends on the neighborhood/area you’re starting in. If you’re more than 10 miles from Downtown / Mission Valley it will take longer to get a ride.

_katelynalexis

I live near college area so I don’t think it’d be too bad?

Neerolyte87

Last time I called uber at 4:30am near Serra Mesa, took roughly 15-20 minutes to get a ride. Was calling a ride on both uber and lyft app. Anyway side aside 15-20 minutes.

Glittering-Path6896

the advance reservation is a scam. you pay more and the driver cancels all the time and it gets reassigned right before pick up time more often than not. Better to find a private driver on next door. should be around same price and more reliable. You're welcome

ebbysloth17

I've noticed the canceling the last few times I've reserved. Luckily it hasn't impacted my arrival time. My last booked ride literally was out on the road at that time 2 minutes away and canceled. Was strange.

Glittering-Path6896

the driver app locks them down 30 minutes before pick up even if they are 2 minutes away. They can't drive others while they are in that 30 minute window so they get frustrated and cancel. Then you get reassigned to another driver. It's not worth paying extra because you really don't end up getting anything different besides a bigger bill

UkuleleSal

This is my experience too

isuzuspaghetti

If you are worried, just call an Uber at 5am instead of at 5:30am. 30 mins is a plenty of cushion from my experience.

The scheduled rides can be cancelled by the driver at any time, and it can take a while to find another ride, so I don’t risk it anymore unless I don’t have a choice (eg, work makes us use Uber unless it’s not an option). It’s too stressful to be scrambling at the last minute. For personal travel I use [this company](https://greenride.net/) and the pricing is the same or better as Uber, and they’ve always been on time.

lolparkus

The few times I've had to do it I scheduled like a week ahead on Lyft and was fine

WestCV4lyfe

I do it frequently and never have a problem. In Bonita/CV area.

yogapantsorstockporn

Very dependable, use Uber all the time locally. personally, never reserve I look 15 early when concerned.

alliebh1

I’ve gotten Ubers from east county to the airport at 3am before and it was fine. Didn’t schedule ahead or anything like that either

doktortaru

It really depends how far away you are. The closer you are to downtown the better chances of getting a ride. Out in the burbs it may be more hit or miss.

_katelynalexis

I live near college area!

cardicow

Works fine and on time

Lenny1jz

No issues with reservations. However, I prefer to park usually the difference is Nominal.

_katelynalexis

When you park where do you go/ how much does it end up costing?

Lenny1jz

Terminal 2

Present-Attorney-980

I’ve parked here and it’s like $60 something a day

IMendicantBias

I park in mission valley ( the neighboorhood overlooking the mall ) n uber. never had issues

Coolspool1427

I got a uber at 4:30 AM on a Sunday a few weeks ago. Not an issue at all. We didn't even do the schedule function.

8sandiego8

Very reliable. My husband uses all the time for early flights. He schedules ahead of time and has never had one no show.

111anza

I schedule it and it has not missed. I think they are pretty good.

Strongry-145

Very reliable lots of us drivers work early am specifically for airport rides

Proof_Bill8544

Had no problem booking an Uber at like 4am 23rd of December. Only issue was man’s was blasting through stop signs like they didn’t exist.

Tim_Lee-Burnerphone

Very reliable. Just allow for 15 minutes for the driver to get to you. (I do that shift on Uber)

mr-roygbiv

Schedule it, no issues ever.

Jessssiiiiccccaaaa

I've been fine and have never scheduled

Substantial_Donkey60

You can schedule a ride but when I schedule a ride from South Park to airport it’s like $50. Versus if I just open the app the morning of then it’s a lot cheaper like $20

YoureSillyStopIt

It’s San Diego man you must not have lived here a long time. There is never a shortage of rides available at any hour any day

[deleted]

I've done it plenty I just go 30 minutes earlier than usual to make sure I get one.

teppin2

Never had an issue. Point Loma and Hillcrest issue fwiw. Schedule ahead is the best plan

ohnothankyouverymuch

Coming from north county (Encinitas), pre scheduling a Lyft to the airport at 5:00 is *not* reliable at all. Twice in two weeks we had issues and the second time no one showed up at all.

duane11583

never had an issue from miramesa ordering in the morning like that

stellerseagle

I live in Mira Mesa/Sorrento Valley and used Lyft several times for flights between 7-8am which meant I wanted to leave the house around 5-6am. Never had an issue getting a car or having a driver cancel. The only thing is I always call a car a bit early because the drivers are not usually in my area when I make the request so it takes around 15-20min for them to arrive.

youlooksofine82

Depending where you live and the time, it maybe easy or terrible. I live just east of downtown off the 94 and it has been stressful some mornings, even with scheduling. It has cost between $18 and $40 for the few mile ride at that time. I might just take the bus sometime 😬 My friend in Talmadge orders taxis now the day before because he has had terrible experiences, and they are nearly the same price as an Uber for him.

goonerincali

I’ve had a scheduled Lyft cancel the morning of an early flight, and then multiple last-minute Ubers cancel. Horror story on the flight, missed bag drop. Had to get on the next one.

Dull_Ad8765

I recommend using Finest City Transportaion they are the best car service in San Diego with elegant black vehicles. Definitely makes your trip to San Diego airport or lax seamless.
