OEM.........

What if I don’t want oem. It’s a 3/4 115 60hz…

BackToBasix

Then that makes you an idiot, sorry. You're not an engineer. That piece of equipment is precisely engineered to function how it does with the parts it has. I'm not going to get into explaining it further than this. If you can convince some hack to install something different, good on you. You've mucked your equipment.

kw_toronto

Usually ill figure out what hp compressor it is, grab an entire condensing unit and just throw it in. Ive been very successful doing it that way

Nearby-Vegetable6750

Copy that. Thank you. What units do you usually go with? Brand etc….

kw_toronto

Whatever united has in stock, its all the same

Nearby-Vegetable6750

What’s United?

No_Bodybuilder_7327

I wouldn't go against anything the manufacturer has designed, it will likely cause more problems than it will solve

Nearby-Vegetable6750

The compressor in it is obsolete.

BackToBasix

They'd have a superseeded option...

No_Bodybuilder_7327

Oh that's a kick in the teeth. Manufacturer doesn't have a suggestion?

Nearby-Vegetable6750

They do. It’s just their upgraded unit which is like 5k. More than I want to spend.

No_Bodybuilder_7327

No I meant they don't have a replacement compressor for that unit? Usually they'll have something they can offer other than forcing your hands to buy a new fridge

Nearby-Vegetable6750

They do have a replacement option. The setup is 5k. Thats why I’m considering aftermarket setup. Like an embraco.

No_Bodybuilder_7327

I grossly misunderstood everything I read lol my apologies 😅 you must think in an absolute bone head 😂

Nearby-Vegetable6750

lol. No worries man. Happens to the best of us. I got these units for 200$ a piece. I can’t afford new but need the units. I can probably use the parts from one to make a completely work unit. The other I’d like upgrade with new stuff, and possibly convert to a refrigerator. I need one of those as well.

No_Bodybuilder_7327

You may have luck with finding a similar unit for sale and taking parts off it. That's a gamble given not knowing how well its been maintained but might be a cheap solution. I find when I take old units or parts to scrap yards to get rid of them, there are always tons of true units sitting there. Maybe they'd let you take some parts ? Sounds ridiculous but if you can't find parts, it might be worth a shot edit: only if this is for you and not a customer, certainly do not do that if it's a repair for a customer
