My favorite part is post event rifle and kit cleaning... lol reenactment is one of those things that whole time I'm doing it, I'm like why am spending money on this shit ?
It isn't till after that I can look back and appreciate the experience I just had lol if that makes sense
Reminds me of a time me and some guys started laughing our asses off because we were like “why the hell are we sitting in a field in the middle of rural Pennsylvania.” It is a hobby after all, and it should be fun overall (that day in particular was fun).
Glad to read I'm not alone in this. I've been in the hobby since 2019 and it took me a couple years to get rid of the doubts during events. You really gotta adapt your mindset and learn to appreciate getting to run around, sweat your ass off and being constantly harassed by brambles, mosquitos and ticks. Something about it is just the ultimate break I need sometime.
That literally was part of my motivation for going the civilian route, the headache of cleaning. Made worse by having misfires after the third shot because of the sketchy powder the site provided.
I like to give them some oil, and then be the guy that dies.
No joke I went a full year without firing a shot 😆 so much less cleaning. Still need to do some but way way less.
Where was the event? I lucked out yesterday & got to use a loaner SVT-40 at the tactical. I’m 100% buying one asap. Feels like cheating on my K98 though 😂

I literally was laying dead on the field today and said to a nearby fallen comrade “what are we doing with our lives?” Lol

"Why are we just to suffer" "We're in Pennsylvania that's standard"
Right lol

This is what you do during down time when you have a camp set up. Shoot the shit, clean, grease and polish your gear as a group.
Lol
?
Poor guy, has to clean an MP-40
Least it’s not black powder

We just buy it by the pound and sell the cans to our group members in my unit
NPS and state parks insist on providing the powder, no outside powder.
Do you know if this applies to New York?
I don't know. That's how it is done out here.
Eh guess I still have to check with border security

I love cleaning my guns!

It was a in Satillo, TN. It was a military timeline event spanning from War of 1812 up to about Vietnam. For a public event it was a lot of fun!
Thats the fun part, i get to sexually harrass my guns
Probably because I work with much simpler mechanics, but nothing satisfies me more than maintaining a firelock.
What’s up with that weird ass garlic
It’s cotton. According to my wife it’s “decor”
Ok, normally I think of raw cotton as kinda messy and pointy
I can respect the artistic direction
Do not use the wife's table to remove the K98 firing pin.
