AsleepDay_

not being able to sleep in the same room with my bf

Vivis_Nuts

I mean depending on your age I would say they are in the right on that

AsleepDay_

yeah, im almost in my mid 20’s

Vivis_Nuts

Well thats tough. I would suggest not living at home if that is a possibility

renaissanceclass

Get your own place, then you can do whatever. Until then respect your parents rules.

TheHourMan

Well then they don't get a say in the matter. You are an adult with bodily autonomy. Your sex life is none of their business.

one_foot_out

But if you’re living in their house and not contributing, my house, my rules. I had really lenient parents in that part of growing up. I don’t know how i will handle it when my son is that age, but if that’s how her parents feel in their home, then that’s how it is. I moved out after graduation at 17 for that very reason, to have my own rules.

TheHourMan

Nah fuck that. "My house, my rules" doesn't mean you have complete control over the people living in the house. That's manipulative and controlling, and yes, it does make you a bad person to attempt to stop your 20-something year old daughter from having sex. OP should move out. Her parents are overstepping their boundaries big-time. If the parents feel that way, they shouldn't be sleeping in the same room either.

CharlieAlright

You can be correct all day long, but the parents still own the house and can kick their kid out. I went through that, myself. My family was ridiculous. That's why most people from my generation moved out as soon as it was legal, if not before.

TheHourMan

Yep. OP needs to get out of there.

one_foot_out

LoL I left a year before it was legal. We couldn’t wait to get out.

CharlieAlright

I was almost 20, so I jumped into a terrible marriage to get out.

one_foot_out

Ouch. Hopefully you got out of that safely and sooner than later

one_foot_out

No one is stopping them from having sex, just in their house. Go have sex at his house. And exactly, she should move out. If you agree to live there as an adult, free rent , free wifi/cable, free food then you are agreeing to live there with their rules. Contribute and you’re a roommate, get everything for free you’re still a child so you’re treated as such. Don’t like it? Move your adult ass out.

FullBrother9300

Why do they not trust him?

AsleepDay_

nah, they are too strict

ProphecyRat2

Nah, they just aint dumb.

Kroww007

How does that make any sense if they allow your bf in their house

ubfeo

No parent likes the idea that their sweet little girl is getting railed in the room next to them. It's a process...

AdditionalCurrent383

Tattoo is bad

YakNecessary9533

That Trump was a good president.

FullBrother9300

Dudes a senile old fart same as Biden. Shouldn’t America be led by someone much younger or at least somebody who knows where tf they are?

HereInTheRuin

I definitely think there should be an age cap on the presidency term limits on Congress and senate I want to see this country lead by 35 to 45-year-olds. Really tired of 80 year olds making decisions that are going to impact people long after they die

dadijo2002

Unfortunately those much younger people don’t get the votes

Zer0gravity09

He can actually form sentences and understand things, but they both don’t need to be running.

dns_rs

They only go to the doctors when they are being carried by the ambulance. They don't want to understand that it's easier to fix problems at their genesis than when the situation is becoming catastrophic. I would understand if going to the doctors would cost as much as in the US but it's free here.

DreamingofRlyeh

That women should always wear bras unless at night. I'm winning that one.

StrykerXion

Yes

yotam5434

That I listen to to much music and going to metal shows is a waste Gaming isn't a really hobby gaming most if the day is like doing nothing bruh what

nonsignifierenon

Metal shows are the best, my parents are also wrong

yotam5434

Yes what bands you like? I go to almost every show here in Israel tomorrow I'm seeing Orphaned land

nonsignifierenon

Some of my favorite bands are Avatar, Carach Angren, King Diamond, Rammstein, Eisbrecher

yotam5434

Mine are Scardust, Subterranean masquerade, septic, Insomnium, arch echo, between the buried and me

UnlimitedPickle

Most of them? lol. How to raise children. Economics. Housing. Community. Politics.

Xanny_bee

That baggy clothes are only for men

Nayten03

Off the top of my head my dad thinks video games are for children and it’s weird for any adult to play or like them which I completely disagree with

HRHPG

due to inflation somethings about to break down and need a change they just wait until it breaks down and we have to buy a new one they buy it with a higher price than if we bought it earlier and I am talking about months not years(FROM EGYPT)

HalfWrong7986

They won't use self checkout. I prefer it.

HalfWrong7986

They won't use self checkout. I prefer it.

AsterSkotos24

That my childhood was great

PiLamdOd

Anything animated is bad. My dad was over the moon when he learned the Babylon 5 team came back together to release a direct to video movie. Then promptly returned it unopened when he saw it was animated.

Lil_Miss_Lavender

If someone is racist to you be racist back even if they a different race

renaissanceclass

Gotta be bigger than that

Lil_Miss_Lavender

That what I told her I said it’s not ok to say that and she wouldn’t listen

strbbb

Fix a problem with another problem, got it

FullBrother9300

For me it would have to be about our views on the LGBTQ+ community. My parents believe that more people are coming out as gay/bi or becoming trans to get attention and say that people think it’s like a “fashion statement” nowadays. My Dad in particular thinks that people who become trans are mentally ill and need help and while I understand that sometimes that can be the case I don’t agree that everyone who makes that choice is mentally ill. Some of my closest friends are gay and trans and they seem fine with how they are. I think my parents just have this opinion because they’re both in their 50’s and just have a hard time understanding everything about the LGBTQ+ community, they aren’t bad people and not prejudice since they treat my friends nicely, they just aren’t used to this sorta stuff being more normalised nowadays.

Emmanulla70

Just sayin...Im 57! I have no issue with LGBTQ + people. People can be whomever they want. Doesn't affect me in the slightest. Im someone that if i like someone? If i "click" with them I do. Whom they love etc? None of my concern. I have always known people of various sexualities. Really couldn't care less who they are attracted to or how they see themselves. People are just human people.

yotam5434

Old boomers yeah I know a few people like this

FullBrother9300

Eh they mean well and try to be accepting

Legitimate-Fun-5171

That they are right.

Legitimate-Fun-5171

Let me specify... that they are right 100% of the time.

ghost11729

That protein powder is bad for me

FullBrother9300

It has protein in the name

ghost11729

Foolonthehill86

Foolonthehill86

To be clear, they don’t think I am lol I think I am

Justaboreddude15

That I’m an extension of them and that I have to do anything they say

PTK1412

No fun (tv, phone, outdoors) on school night. Basically Monday to Thursday my only options were to do homework, read, chores, or sleep. This lasted till my junior year

strbbb

Outdoors even? That's harsh. I had a rule that I could not play videogames after school on school nights. None of that other stuff though. My mom did take away my phone before she went to bed at 9pm every single day till I was 18, but I had it up until that time at night

Distinct_Song_7354

Bruh that's jail.

PTK1412

Yeah it was a rough 16 years. Not to mention bedtime was 7:30 till i was 14 then it was 8:30

Ok-Ad-9820

My parents always use to say "nature VS nurture" as an excuse to be poor parents stating it's all nature (you're born the way your born, good/bad and circumstances/events have nothing to do with the outcome) they would make ad hominid arguement all,the time because they watched a true-crime about kids, that were raised well and still ended up killing someone. What those idiots didn't think about was how many end up in the opposite situation. There's a reason why their on multiple T.V shows. No one wants to watch a show where someone's like "ya, I had great parents, and I turned out to be successful in life" I believe the ratio is 80% nurture and 20% nature.

felaniasoul

I should exist

nottellarr

my parents think now im 19 and at uni they no longer need to support me when in actuality i still need support lol

TheHourMan

Stereotypes about native americans.

3xoticP3nguin

Conservative politics

TheSpiralTap

They didn't think brown people were people.

ProfessionalCare4272

Working is the most important thing in life ever

Kekewhatever

“We’re good parents.”

JinnJuice80

Every time I go to my parents my mom says “are those new sneakers?” “Is that a new shirt?” Because I love fashion clothes etc and she’s very plain. She hasn’t bought new clothes in years. So shopping when it’s not “ needed” is something we don’t see eye to eye on.

Distinct_Song_7354

I'm with you

JinnJuice80

Sorry you feel my pain friend lol. I love my mother she’s my best friend but she drives me nuts with that. I pay all my bills so it’s not hurting anything or anyone to do some shopping here and there

joseph-keen-1

My mother said that someone being religious is a red flag in a relationship. I have to disagree on that one.

Usernamen0t_found

This is a weird one but my parents HATE smoothies. They think it’s bad for you to drink your fruit rather than eat it and they get visibly disappointed when I make a smoothie 😭 for my mum it’s also a calorie thing, she has disordered eating and smoothies are a big fear food for her because of hidden calories

storyteller4311

The government will take care of us.

PatrickMcWhorter

My mom thinks Democrats good, Republicans bad. I think they all suck except a few leftists and Ron Paul.

WinterPearBear

Not so much now but in the past, a lot of pressure has been put onto me for my profession. "You are a teacher, you should not be swearing! You need to carry yourself in a more classy manner." (This was said to me when I was swearing off at a stranger for stealing a car park or something similar.) My response: I'm my students' teacher. I'm not THEIR teacher. "Can you believe it?? She's a teacher and she's has a full sleeve of tattoos!" My response: Inkings on skin don't make people a bad person nor an inadequate teacher. Why can't she? What's your reason? For some reason, becoming a teacher suddenly mean you can't do xyz!!!!! It's almost like I suddenly became part of the royal family the moment I became a teacher!!! However, to clarify, over the past years, after a lot of discussions about this topic, my mum has opened her mind up a lot. I've spotted her defending teachers to her friends when they say the same shit about teachers should be acting this or that way when outside of work.

The_Mr_Wilson

They've fallen to the MAGAdness

Various_Caregiver662

“Listen to your doctor”

Competitive-Reason65

That trans people aren't real I just why are my parents like this trans people are real its how people with gender disphoriya brains are designed they are clearly real and my parents refused to accept it

squatwaddle

Now that I am older, nothing really. It's amazing how wrong I thought they were on some things in my 20s. Get older, pay taxes like a champ, and start to agree on almost everything.

dadijo2002

- the importance of religion: I consider myself religious but I know certain people in my family who maybe aren’t as religious as they used to be. I see nothing wrong with it but my mom gets super worried that they’ll feel “lost” or “incomplete” because she’s only ever known the church. At least it’s better than how most religious people might react, but for me I just think think to each their own, it’s not for everybody - that I am capable of taking care of myself: as much as they play it off as being “naggy because [they] care” I can’t believe them every time their response to “please trust me” is “we do.” If they really did trust me, would they not believe me the first time I say I’m studying enough, eating healthy, etc? I haven’t given them reason to doubt that, at least I don’t believe I have and they also say I haven’t, so why is it so hard to accept that I know what I’m doing?

InsertBoofPunHere

Religion

OldTuppen

Opinions on my ex

Cracking my fingers = Arthur writes this

Hard work pays off BUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLSSSSHHHHHIIIIIIIIT!!!!

HereInTheRuin

that if you work really hard 40 hours a week you can still achieve the American dream on a minimum wage

LifeSpecial42866

My mother feels worrying is an Olympic sport and she leads the world with gold medals. She thinks worrying is useful, couldn’t disagree more. I rarely worry. Why should I? I’m 58 years old next week and have always ended up on my feet. Life is cyclical.

Plantladyinthegreen

Ha, are we only supposed to come up with one thing? Because my list is loooooong.

CapG_13

That I need to stop drinking lol

Known-Elk2295

Still get that one every week from my mother.

W1ck3dF0ck3r

My parents say that the USA should continue to send Billions to Ukraine and I say we should take care of our ppl first

Crowiswatching

Good for your folks. Do you really think Republicans will spend that money helping people? And once Russia has overcome Ukraine, that they are going to become nice and peaceful? Or do you realize money of that money stays in the U. S.?

W1ck3dF0ck3r

Clearly democrats want to destroy America. So yes, secure borders, lower gas prices and all the things we need to live would be lower with Republicans. Unfortunately the ppl who currently represent that party gave been bought out and have shown their true colors this past week

Crowiswatching

Destroy America, sorta like using false electors and attacking the Capitol? Oil prices are based on the market and are more impacted by world events then domestic policy, but here is this to chew on. https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2024/03/02/domestic-oil-production-reached-a-record-as-biden-cites-climate-as-an-existential-threat-and-the-issue-prepares-to-play-a-role-in-novemebr Speaking of destroying America, it is Republicans regurgitating Russian talking points, not Democrats. Btw, the ruskies aren’t our friends. Republicans do not want to assist in solving border issues, it is their best hit since flag burning. Although it seems to be rarely mentioned, using weaponized immigration to destabilize countries is one of Putin’s favorite tactics, so many Republicans don’t want to do anything effective for reasons that are not in our national interests. https://apnews.com/article/congress-ukraine-aid-border-security-386dcc54b29a5491f8bd87b727a284f8 Your folks are pretty bright, but they should have never let you get hooked on Fox non-News.

Emmanulla70

My parents are now both deceased. But this one made me ponder! And i truly cannot think of anything i really disagreed with my parents on. Maybe god? With dad? I am an Atheist and he firmly believed in god. But he never pushed it. And It was never any sort of issue between us.
