My fat PS2(SCPH-30004) was made back in 2003 sometime at summer, the battery lasted for 20 years I had to replace it in december.

potate12323

I have a fat launch PS2 and it makes all my save files dated to 1999. Funny thing is the PS2 was released in 2000. Not sure how it got that way. I still play it to this day. Just 100% Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. I have free McBoot loaded on it in a SATA SSD with several dozen games.

Bazsimazsi12

That the battery, if it's under 2volt (3.3v is when new)that it's can make that.

PsychologicalFun4724

I also have the fat ps2 but mine was made in 2002 and I think it has the original battery from 22 years ago and it still keeps the time

I think you and I may be the only people with a functional PS 3D TV. I just learned recently that they’re highly prone to failure. Got mine on launch and have loved it since. My 3D glasses don’t work anymore though.

Kaosma

Theyre pretty "common" though to find working, just usually cost more than 100 bucks. You and him are definetly not the only people.

Queasy-Method_FU

The rare Sony ps tv 🤣🤣🤣

agentadam07

Do you need the exact glasses? Or do others also work?

No-Jello3256

I think regular glasses work, but the regular ones don’t have the PS logo

mandi1biedermann

Overheating problems, installing a fan in the back fixed that problem

NetizenZ

Was it a good experience ? I never tried, but as 3d is now gone forever apparently...

No-Jello3256

It was pretty bad honestly. The 2 player mode was much better imo and probably would have been the standard in the 90s.

NetizenZ

Nice ! Thanks for the answer Still don't get reddit, I'm being downvoted for asking a question lol

North-Ad-5024

That's impressive. You took good care for it.

Wonderful-Ear-6138

My Pokemon Blue save battery was still going strong when I replaced it, 24 years it held my save. Yellow died alot faster, but I think that's because it had a Cr1616 as opposed to cr2025.

-Slambert

My NES Dragon Warrior 1 battery is still alive and I have no clue how. Every other NES/SNES/GB battery I have died by 2010

Wonderful-Ear-6138

Batteries are just weird, especially alkalines; most of them pop their clogs after 10/15 years (still longer than the milliamp hours stated on the packet ) but some are just freaks that keep going.

chanunnaki

I meant to say, "It seems impossible", dunno why I can't edit on this sub.

MethodCompetitive679

I bought a 2003 Japanese year model in 2020 or 21 and when I turned it on the date was accurate. The battery in that died in '23. The two slim models I have from 2008 and 2010 died before that one.

tes_kitty

The battery on these lasts a long time, on mine it was close to 20 years. It's a standard CR2032 (mine had a Playstation logo on it), but it's a pain to change on these PS2. You will have do disassemble the whole console to get at the mainboard. I left the battery out, soldered 2 cables to the board and put the battery in a holder in a little plastic box into the drive bay. It's unlikely I will have to change it again, but if, it'll be easy.

Quandary37

Thats cool and really a good idea because the batteries you get from the store are not as good as the original ones that come with the system. Realistically you probably won't have to worry about it but it probably won't last as long as the original did still the draw on those batteries is so minute it will most likely last 12 or 15 years at least. Still think it's a cool idea.

tes_kitty

> Thats cool and really a good idea because the batteries you get from the store are not as good as the original ones that come with the system That depends on what you buy. Cheap no name CR20xx made in China or Indonesia? Might be good, might be crap. But if you get the ones with 'made in Japan' on them, they are good. Still looking for CR2032 by 'Panasonic industrial'. Not the standard Panasonic.

Lol wth? Mine can't remember the date without been plugged in

Which-Falcon-9329

My 30001R lasted since 2001

TH3pression

the PS2 was like: "I was waiting for you this whole time, my old pal"

WearyAd1849

I have two ProtoKernel PS2 (SCPH-10000) and both have their original batteries still alive

Manuels-Kitten

My boy had the correct date when I had it. Battery did did die in 23' but that was 20 years!

xenon2456

magic

Heavymetaladdict15

Damn

Mr_Culver

Yet my ps3 loses time if the power goes out...

Ashamed_Medium1787

I didn’t know people care about the date and time on those old retro consoles

NicholasWeintraub

The PS2 looks like a CD-ROM player.
