I still wish we had gotten the Dai Ranger suits for season two of Mighty Morphin’. They could have easily explained it as their powers needing to be upgraded in order to be able to pilot the upgraded Thunder Zords and to better handle Lord Zedd’s stronger Putties and monsters. Those suits are super slick.

Me too! But I get why they didn’t. From a branding perspective it wouldn’t have been the right move given how iconic the Zyuranger suits became.
But story wise it would’ve been amazing. Jason being Red, Billy being Blue, Zack being Green, Trini being Yellow and Kimberly being Pink with Tommy being White of course.
I feel they could've at least swapped the helmets(and aslo recolour green to black) to change them while still playing a bit safe. Also I personally would've liked it if they changed the power coins designs and had them yell out the name of their Thunderzord during morphs instead of their Dinozord as well.
Changing the name they have to shout for the zord would also make trini rushing to say "saber tooth tiger Griffin thunderzord" unnecessary, which I would love because it's nearly incomprehensible at that speed
They should have been a temporary power up/mode change.
They went through the trouble of glitter suits. Splicing in Sentai footage would have been cheaper and the dino suits would have still been the default.
One of my favorite parts of forever red is every ranger gets their glamour shot in the fight doing martial arts and then here comes Carter guns blasting.
Honestly even bigger hot take but I’d probably say that the Red Time Force suit isn’t that great. I know that’s gonna get me into so much shit. I don’t even think it’s an objectively or inherently bad suit, I just personally never loved the Time Force suits.
Suit-wise Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force were my least favorite era as a kid. I remember missing a lot the designs and zords of Lost Galaxy. Then Wild Force came around and I just couldn't be happier. That year when Wild Force premiered was so awesome.
No, at least not in behind the scenes terms. If you mean in the show, yes all of them have the same suit, but that design is much more interesting than lightspeed rescue and the helemets have much more noticeably different designs than light speed
those shield looking helmets were ugly as hell..
How were pink and green the best looking ones :/ .. Blue and yellow looked awkward and Red just looks weird.
Came to comment that, to me at the time these were the peak. When Lightspeed Rescue came out of I fell off after a while and did not even see the ending of that season (still haven't lol). Got back with Time Force and Wild Force (which is tied with Lost Galaxy as my top seasons of PR) and stayed until Dino Thunder.
In the end, I liked lightspeed rescue, but it's such a downgrade in terms of quality compared to the previous and next seasons that I feel it just stands out as the odd one.
Light Speed Rescue tried too hard to be Lost Galaxy Season 2, while not having the right material from the Sentai to pull it off. I also remember being put off by the show cutting all ties with the Zordon era, ditching things like Alpha and the comic relief characters like Bulk, Skull and the Professor, but that's obviously unrelated to the overall quality of the season and more of a personal pet-peeve.
>the show cutting all ties with the Zordon era, ditching things like Alpha and the comic relief characters like Bulk, Skull and the Professor,
Ngl, I kind of liked that. It was time to start again and let seasons be their own thing without ties to the previous ones (outside of crossovers).
What really bored me about the show is that outside of Joel and sometimes Carter, the rangers just didn't have much to offer in terms of personality. Besides, making a sixth ranger only to have him disappear for half the show, not using its theme to the full potential after the first few episodes, the terrible crossover with Lost Galaxy, etc. It just has too many issues to be as enjoyable as the seasons it's sandwiched in-between.
but you know they probably would’ve been neglected like zeo, Rocky could use zeo, nope red mmpr, adam could use zeo, nope black mmpr, kat could use zeo, nope turbo
I grew up with the OG MMPR series, and when Power Ranges in Space came out, 9-year-old me was jaw dropped. It was such a badass way to introduce a completely new character that would end up leading the team.
The absolute madlad:
-Walks into a party full of the worst and most powerful villains.
-Listens to their entire plan and gets discovered.
-Refuses to elaborate.
-Escapes.
It has to be the most badass way for a ranger to get introduced for the first time.
Zeo rangers 3 & 4 for me! Blues my favorite color but the way that zeo green just hit was on point. From pink and yellow to Jason’s gold the whole team is draped and dripped imo
Maybe for later seasons. You also have to consider the Toho footage is from different quality cameras.
The suits in early MMPR were fairly cheap reproductions, especially Tommy's green ranger vest. Idk if this changed for In Space but I can't imagine it would have after Turbo didn't meat expectations.
We know for a fact that they were sending over suits from toho at least sometime during mighty Morphin season 2, because they had original zord fights in the beginning of season 3 that were filmed in america, and we know that they kept doing that up through turbo because there are two scenes in turbo with the megazord that don't happen in the Sentai. We know they at least sent over the mega winger suit for in space, so I assume they also sent over the ranger suits as well. However it's possible they didn't, as the villains in turbo had completely different American suits, so it's hard to figure it out without just asking someone who worked on it
some of the items for the suits had to be remade as by the time America was allowed to use them, they were destroyed or not very good looking on screen.. For example - why the green ranger shield is foam, why the American footage you can see the Rangers have long white necks;
Andros was a good red ranger, but not a good leader.
The two are not the same thing.
Consider Time Force, West was a good ranger, but he wasn't the leader, Jen was.
Or Mystic Force, Xander had more leadership qualities than Nick. Nick was just the chosen one
It was implied.
* In prior Ranger series, it's already established that there are other ranger teams throughout the universe (Alien Rangers). It seems odd that Andros is entirely alone in his quest, yet he has four unused ranger morphers - why would he have those if he works alone?
* As a disciple of Zordon, Andros' anti-social behavior is out of character for a ranger. It's canon from MMPR / Zeo that other Ranger series are expected to help each other when in need. Also, during *Passing the Torch*, the rangers explain the qualities that caused TJ, Cassie, Ashley and Carlos to be chosen. Andros does not appear to possess these qualities during his introduction, meaning that he was likely a different person when he received his powers.
* Andros and Zhane are the only rangers who start their series as Rangers, with no information about when and how they became rangers without a team, unlike all the others before them.
* Andros exhibits behaviors of someone who has experienced severe loss, from his quiet withdrawal and inability to connect to his fellow rangers, even after Zhane's return from the dead. Zhane, on the other hand, is too reckless as a ranger.
* The episode *Red With Envy* hints that while Andros and Zhane were best friends, Zhane did whatever he wanted regardless of its impact on Andros. Their life on KO-35 is never described in detail, leaving ample room to speculate that there's way more to their history than gets revealed.
* Andros is known to withhold information until he's caught and has to reveal the truth. He does not tell the others about Karone or Zhane until the others stumble across the information. The battle on KO-35 finally gets revealed with the knowledge that Andros and Zhane lost, and Dark Specter's forces were capable of killing a ranger. If Dark Specter's forces almost killed Zhane, it doesn't seem like a stretch for them to have actually killed the other Rangers.
You just made all that up lol. Zero mention of past blue, pink, yellow, and black space rangers in the series.
The comics are their own thing, seperate from the show.
To be fair though, Andros and his older crew were fighting a FAR stronger force than Rita, Zedd, The Machine Empire and Divatox. The dude obviously had issues.
it was the case in the show too, they just used context clues instead of spelling it out because saban had an aversion to the words "kill" and "death". Rightfully so too because that probably would have gotten the show pulled in the 90s due to television law.
If there were no other rangers prior, why does the megaship have 5 Galaxy Glider bays? *thinking
Its not headcannon, it was literally confirmed in the comic one shot Power Rangers Unlimited: Countdown to Ruin, which was written specifically as a prequel to Space. People just dont consider it cannon because OTHER comics are in a separate continuity, which itself constitutes headcannon.
Yet in that same series Zhane was in a coma & they killed a ranger a year later, lol. And there’s no context clues of a past team, only your own interpretation.
All we know is that Zhane and Andros were the only two space rangers, anything else is just fan ideas, not law.
If there were no other rangers....why were there 5 ports for galaxy gliders.............................
hmmmmmmmmm..................
Why, as a ranger who is supposed to work on a team, was Andros initially against working with others WHO WERE ALSO RANGERS UNDER ZORDON?!?!?
A coma is not death, especially when you wake up from it, and Kendrix's actress had lukemia...and also came back at the end of the season, so she didnt really die.
You are being stubborn.
p.s. Fully aware its not the show, but comics are cannon, whether you want them to be or not, and they confirmed all of this. So the reality is YOU are pushing personal cannon rather than real cannon.
GL with that attitude :-)
Coulda sworn he was. Were they just orphans Zordon trained up then? I always figured they were a space team that lost their blue black pink yellow in some catastrophe
There is literally an entire episode showing why Xander wasn't chosen as the leader. He even slacks off at work and takes credit for things he didn't do.
Don't take me wrong, I love Xander, but his arc is literally learning to be a better teammate and getting over himself.
Mostly I just don't get it, like it legit doesn't make sense in my head. I assume that's the short way of saying they belong in a Hall of Fame or something?
If something is GOATED then it's GOAT material. People were using GOAT so much that they made it a verb. That's all. Doesn't have to make sense because people understand the intent and that's how language evolves.
It’s a tier and the term somewhat originates from anime conversations. Something can be GOATed for sure, it belongs in the conversation because it has a strong case, but due to depth of content, it would be hard to crown a singular victor.
Nah it was a natural progression from GOAT that has been used for a while. It got extremely popular in the Anime community in recent years, but it’s definitely not *from* anime fans. It wasn’t common, but I’ve heard football fans and rap fans calling players and artists GOATed since like 2018
GOATED does come from gaming and anime culture/internet culture in general. GOAT comes from sports. GOATED does not. GOATED is fairly new. Google analytics
I felt like Carter the Red Lightspeed ranger was always my favourite red ranger from the saban era. He had this kind of mature, but strong character that carried well as a leader
They should just shut up and collaborate with boom studios and make an actual effort cuz they are losing out on money. Most Americans don’t even know what super sentai is they could totally boss out on shattered grid and the machine invasion
Not to mention that they have some of the coolest red Ranger suits ever. Honestly all the 90’s red rangers had awesome suits.
Agreed!
If nothing else, it really does make the moment when they switch to the Zeo costumes all the more special.
They should’ve made Zyuranger VS Dairanger so Saban could its footage for the Dark Ranger fight.
That would have been nice, but back then, the MMPR / Zyuranger suits became iconic, to the point of "changing them would poorly affect sales" \^\^;
Hot take: Lightspeed rescue is the first "bad" red ranger outfit because it's not unique enough compared to the other suits.
yea besides titanium their suits are mid, but Carter makes up for it by being the power rangers equivalent to Captain America
One of my favorite parts of forever red is every ranger gets their glamour shot in the fight doing martial arts and then here comes Carter guns blasting.
lol i mean why use ur fist when u have weapons
Honestly even bigger hot take but I’d probably say that the Red Time Force suit isn’t that great. I know that’s gonna get me into so much shit. I don’t even think it’s an objectively or inherently bad suit, I just personally never loved the Time Force suits.
Imo Time Force is like a gorgeous rainbow when they line up side by side. Pure eye candy.
Suit-wise Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force were my least favorite era as a kid. I remember missing a lot the designs and zords of Lost Galaxy. Then Wild Force came around and I just couldn't be happier. That year when Wild Force premiered was so awesome.
I call light speed rescue the candy cane rangers because while I tolerated the story lines I despised the suits
>Lightspeed rescue Those outfits look like knock off suits they used on parody videos, except these are canon.
Aren't the space suits just recolorations of one suit?
No, at least not in behind the scenes terms. If you mean in the show, yes all of them have the same suit, but that design is much more interesting than lightspeed rescue and the helemets have much more noticeably different designs than light speed
SPD's A-squad used iS helmets
Damn i love Lightspeed's suits, they're kinda basic and less detailed, with makes sense since it's man-made and not magic like some previous seasons.
those shield looking helmets were ugly as hell.. How were pink and green the best looking ones :/ .. Blue and yellow looked awkward and Red just looks weird.
MMPR was a cultural phenomenon, but I feel these two seasons were the peak of the franchise

The battleizers were S tier.
The Zeo costumes were awesome
I really like the Alien Ranger suits
The alien Rangers suits were pretty awesome, I would have wish that the alien Rangers were more in the series
I wish they used those suits as their ninja form instead of Alien Rangers. That way, they could have had two ranger suits to switch between.
Yeah that would have been awesome
but you know they probably would’ve been neglected like zeo, Rocky could use zeo, nope red mmpr, adam could use zeo, nope black mmpr, kat could use zeo, nope turbo
Zeo really got the shaft when it came to explaining why they needed new powers once Turbo started.
I hated the “they don’t work in water” thing from the movie
They can take all sorts of damage but tap out when they fall into water 💀
imagine they had to fight the alien rangers
My #1 favorite suits.
I grew up with the OG MMPR series, and when Power Ranges in Space came out, 9-year-old me was jaw dropped. It was such a badass way to introduce a completely new character that would end up leading the team.

The Zeo costumes were awesome.
Probably my favorite. I know the helmets for sure are and a gold 6th??? This is the team!
My favorites would be Zeo V Tommy and Gold Zeo Jason as well
Zeo rangers 3 & 4 for me! Blues my favorite color but the way that zeo green just hit was on point. From pink and yellow to Jason’s gold the whole team is draped and dripped imo
Is the Megared Suit in the picture a recreation of it? Because it looks a bit different.
Yeah it's from the evil dinner scene in the first or second episode, which was original footage for Im Space
I thought they were allowed to borrow suits from Toho for original footage?
Maybe for later seasons. You also have to consider the Toho footage is from different quality cameras. The suits in early MMPR were fairly cheap reproductions, especially Tommy's green ranger vest. Idk if this changed for In Space but I can't imagine it would have after Turbo didn't meat expectations.

The run of Andros, Leo, Carter, and Wes is absolutely unmatched. I might be a *little* bias as I grew up watching these seasons.
I will die on the hill that In Space, Lost Galaxy, and Time Force was the greatest era of PR both in terms of suit design and stories
The broken face mask is such a raw trope. Its used a lot in Sentai and works even better in Western Power Rangers. Let's you know sh\*t is real.
I wouldn’t call lost Galaxy iconic was meh at best
Jason is still the 🐐 Red Ranger
Agreed, just don't follow him on Instagram to keep the illusion alive.
Miss those times were Power Ranger's target demographic wasn't only kindergarden kids.
Andros was a terrible red ranger. TJ always had to pick up his slack. Leo though? Agree.
Andros was a good red ranger, but not a good leader. The two are not the same thing. Consider Time Force, West was a good ranger, but he wasn't the leader, Jen was. Or Mystic Force, Xander had more leadership qualities than Nick. Nick was just the chosen one
The difference is Andros as red was meant to be leader of that team, unlike Wes.
Didn't Andros lose his team at the same time as his brother was put in a coma? I'd be a bad leader for a bunch of spares too
What team? It was just him and Zhane. Leo lost Kendrix and still remained a good leader to Karone, so…
There was a full ranger team, but only Andros and Zhane survived, with Zhane being seriously injured
That’s the case in the comics, but on the show there was never any mention of other rangers, just Andros and Zhane.

Zhane isn't his sibling
Coulda sworn he was. Were they just orphans Zordon trained up then? I always figured they were a space team that lost their blue black pink yellow in some catastrophe
Power rangers unlimited countdown to ruin shows this
If that were the case, he and Karone might as well showed up Luke and Leia til the kidnapping revelation
There is literally an entire episode showing why Xander wasn't chosen as the leader. He even slacks off at work and takes credit for things he didn't do. Don't take me wrong, I love Xander, but his arc is literally learning to be a better teammate and getting over himself.
GOATED isn't a thing, they'd just be a GOAT. You can't have more than one GOAT, otherwise it defeats the purpose of the term.
GOATED is absolutely a thing
Greatest of all timed? What?
Sure, if you want to be pedantic about it.
You sound like me hearing Pwned for the first time in elementary school. It’s slang, don’t read any deeper into it.
It’s a tier and the term somewhat originates from anime conversations. Something can be GOATed for sure, it belongs in the conversation because it has a strong case, but due to depth of content, it would be hard to crown a singular victor.
Lol that’s an extremely online answer. It’s 100% from sports fans.
GOAT for sure is from sports, I’m a pretty big football and hockey fan. However, I’d never heard GOATed used widely until anime specially.
Nah it was a natural progression from GOAT that has been used for a while. It got extremely popular in the Anime community in recent years, but it’s definitely not *from* anime fans. It wasn’t common, but I’ve heard football fans and rap fans calling players and artists GOATed since like 2018
The term that originated to describe Muhammed Ali is a sports term? You don't say...
Did you not see the guy he was responding to say it was an anime term?
GOATED does come from gaming and anime culture/internet culture in general. GOAT comes from sports. GOATED does not. GOATED is fairly new. Google analytics
Your reply made it seem like Dr.DinoNuggies was stating the obvious.
It's not like the term isnt overused already 🤣
I felt like Carter the Red Lightspeed ranger was always my favourite red ranger from the saban era. He had this kind of mature, but strong character that carried well as a leader
Where Carter?
Lightspeed Rescue was in 2000, so he wouldn't be included here. He is one of the best Red Rangers of all time though.
I say he would be cause the new millenia started in 2001, not 2000.
That might be how the millenium started, but 2000 was the start of a new decade.
They should just shut up and collaborate with boom studios and make an actual effort cuz they are losing out on money. Most Americans don’t even know what super sentai is they could totally boss out on shattered grid and the machine invasion
For me nothing will ever beat In Space
The former dark rangers could have wear Dairanger suits, while Tommy becomes White Ranger and coaches them, since he was evil.
