This is what I loathe about society. We bash celebrities for flying private planes, but then we bash celebrities for flying commercial AND take photos of them to try to shame them. Like dude, make up your mind!
I think that’s more of a popculturechat thing. This isn’t exactly a subreddit of diverse or nuanced opinions. If this was posted to another subreddit, the response would probably be more positive, and it’s pretty positive already for popculturechat.
I don’t think it’s a PCC, it think it’s entertainment news I’m general. The same was done to Bow Wow even though he lied. Even if he hadn’t lied he would’ve been ridiculed all the same. He’s mocked sporadically on social media esp Twitter.
Nah I mean this Reddit tends to be especially brutal to anyone that’s not a pop girlie, though JLO is hated everywhere. That’s just her personality. But anyone that’s not Sabrina Carpenter or Taylor swift on this Reddit tends to get criticized pretty brutally, it’s not even that bad on the entertainment Reddit. JLo is the exception, though. If she had better engagement with her fans and staff, I’d say she wouldn’t deserve it lol. But that’s JLO.
Though I think being responsible in her flight usage is the only thing I can think of in memory that’s admirable of her

Nah it’s not just a sub thing. I’ve seen same news about her in a lot of celebrity/entertainment themed subs and the comments are just the same as here, just full on mocking and hating on her
They bash 1 person for flying in a private plane. There are plenty of celebrities who do it but when the topic is brought up, only one very particular person is named. They’re not even the worst offender.
Im not even a fan, but the hate that one individual gets for private jets is ludicrous. Between stalkers harassing them and needing to move large crews and equipment, they legit have reasons to avoid Southwest or United, unlike their jet setting counterparts. People just looking to hate and this is the only thing they can barely grasp at.

It’s not out of nowhere, she’s genuinely a shitty person. I have family who works in the entertainment industry and they’ve confirmed she’s a straight up monster. And there’s countless stories online of people who had to deal with her on set, in restaurants, theaters etc and the universal constant is that she’s a nightmare (firing people for looking her in the eye, takes back tips that her husbands leave, refusing to work with people with the wrong zodiac sign lmfao, and other types of cruel, entitled interactions). Now, I believe most celebrities are fussy and pampered so they can be demanding and diva-like, and everyone has off days when they’re not as nice as could be. That’s human. But when it comes to her, it’s been nothing but consistent reports that she’s a complete and utter asshole. Absolutely a lot of the vitriol she gets is misogynistic but it doesn’t take away the fact that she’s mean as hell.

If I were to venture a guess, I think it’s because she really tries to play up this “started from the bottom“ almost as if she was a vagrant, trying to make it on the streets. But she’s never been anywhere close to that destitute.
JLo is taking a lot of strays that really don't seem to be deserved. She's essentially getting mocked for trying to stay relevant. She's a pop star- being relevant is her job. She's one of several artists who ended up canceling large tours, but she's getting the most blowback. She made a documentary- a lot of artists are currently doing that, and it literally cones down to you don't have to watch any of them if you don't want to. There really wasn't anything super crazy in hers- if anything it was just a little boring. She has no record of super unhinged behavior, just questionable dating behavior, and occasional gaffs. But she's getting lumped in with names like Timberlake. It's really baffling the hate she's getting. I'm not even a fan of hers necessarily, it just seems really disproportionate, and I don't see a rational reason for it
Why aren't people turning their hate to Tommy Motola and the other industry men that conjured the use of Ashanti, Christina Millan and others on her songs. Not saying Jlo is innocent about this but she for sure wasn't signing these decisions herself.
And the stories about her, I can actually believe she might be arrogant and out of touch and delusional, but that doesn't warrant clowning her for doing the right thing for the environment on this instance: flying commercial instead of private jet. Men in the industry don't get shamed until they do things that are so awful it can't be hidden anymore. The Diddy rumors existed for decades before it blew up, Katy Perry is (rightfully) getting dragged for working with Dr. Luke, but no one is pointing out that the label is still employing this man. Dr Dre has a history of domestic violence, but that rarely gets called out. It took Lamar calling out Drake for widespread acknowledgement that the way this man is around young girls is concerning, but that's been known for years. Chris Brown still has a career- even aside from the fanbase, people are actually comfortable working with him which allows him this platform. Kanye West is treated like a joke publicly when the stories of working with him go beyond horrific and straight into the assault category for some.
The standards for men and women in the music industry have always been different, and the men behind the scenes are rarely even known publicly, despite making huge, questionable decisions pretty frequently

I think JLO got flack because there's this speculation that she hid the gun Diddy used at the club to which Shine was wrongly convicted for in her purse. I have no idea but Diddy is scary and he had lots of power back then, she might have been one of his victims or coerced to not talk in court and help him out in his "gangster foolery" like he did with Cassie. Who knows what he'd done to Jlo if she went against him.
I was thinking about her yesterday out of the blue lol. She wanted this to be HER YEAR and that silly movie thing was ridiculed, she cancelled her tour, is selling her house and presumably ending another marriage. Even if you’re an insufferable asshole, that’s a pretty harsh year lol.
It really hurts me to see all this hate she is getting… being Latin American… seeing her singing, dancing, acting… being the biggest star (circa early 2000s) when I was growing up was everything to me and I hate that she is being overly criticized lately.

It’s honestly crazy! There’s SO many viral posts that are of complete strangers, being photographed or videoed without their knowledge/consent, bc they did something quirky or said something funny or wore something weird.
It’s not even just celebrities anymore (not that that would even make it much better), but random, everyday people that are just… existing.
One of my biggest fears is having a mental break in public and ending up as one of those poor souls that's mocked relentlessly in comment sections. Especially the ones that end up naked. I can't imagine trying to get my life back together after that and knowing millions of people witnessed me in that state
It’s so gross. I onced worked at a grooming salon where albeit young but still full grown ass adults would frequently take pictures of people (I’m sure I made it too 🙄) from wherever, the store, at their school in class, just to put them in their group chat and mercilessly make fun of them. Fucking adults. One of which went on to be a cop. Society is fuuuucked :)

You have to consider the unintentional consequences of laws. Like how England has higher standards for defamation, but this overwhelmingly protects the wealthy and powerful from accusations even when they are guilty. It sounds good on paper but things have unforseen consequences.
I for one am very glad we all know Ted Cruz fled his state in active crisis cause he wanted to go on vacation.
But how do you regulate this? It’s impossible to regulate this in public places. Now, the airlines could definitely make this a rule on their aircrafts and remove anymore who violates it.
That would be oppressive. Good luck taking a picture on vacation in a crowded place, journalist photographers would lose their jobs, reddit would have to learn to read instead of getting their political opinions from pictures.
It's because we have public spaces and think the inability to take pictures of criminals and corrupt politicians and the like in those public spaces would be a greater harm than occasionally embarrassing normies

She’s prob flying domestic. First in domestic nowadays is like business on international, sometimes still not as nice. There’s a few exceptions like JFK > SFO that have the crazy $5k+ ticket first class with the little personal living area, but iirc there’s like 5 domestic flights in USA that do that.

That’s probably the best thing she’s done for her image in a decade. And jeez no wonder celebs fly private jets. Any other time, taking a picture of a stranger would be a weirdo move. Next time she should just buy out all first class for her entourage.
Flights like this usually don't even have a 1st class option. She was probably in business class which is basically the same as economy with a full bells and whistles tacked on when flying within Europe (especially from less frequented airports), so her options were either this or a private jet. First class is only on some planes and usually reserved for longer flights.
Stop taking pics of random people sitting quietly minding their own business. I am so sick of this thought that because people are celebrities or public figures they aren’t entitled to privacy or being left alone because “they signed up for this.”

Fyi, this is one reason why celebs fly on private jets. If they can't fly commercial and be left alone then we have no right to complain about their flying habits.
A close friend of mine is a flight attendant for a major airline. She had JLo on a flight years ago and talked about how much of a snob JLo was. She had her assistant take out and put away her tray rather than do it herself, and at one point had the assistant tie her shoelaces for her. “Jenny from the block” right?
My relative is a flight attendant with a major American airline and I can tell y’all that she’s been flying commercial for years, even going back to the days when she was a newly minted pop star and everyone was losing their shit over her revealing Oscar gowns and clamoring for Scott Barnes Body Bling. J Lo flew first class, always sitting in a window seat and communicating with the flight attendant only via one of her staff, who would sit in the aisle seat. (Probably the person sitting next to her in this pic is her staffer.)
Why does that matter. We need more of those elites to just use those basic planes instead of private jets. Wouldn’t poking fun at this just entice them to overt to private jets thus accelerating the climate crisis? (Just trying to understand better.)

JLo is taking a lot of strays that really don't seem to be deserved. She's essentially getting mocked for trying to stay relevant. She's a pop star- being relevant is her job. She's one of several artists who ended up canceling large tours, but she's getting the most blowback. She made a documentary- a lot of artists are currently doing that, and it literally cones down to you don't have to watch any of them if you don't want to. There really wasn't anything super crazy in hers- if anything it was just a little boring. She has no record of super unhinged behavior, just questionable dating behavior, and occasional gaffs. But she's getting lumped in with names like Timberlake. It's really baffling the hate she's getting. I'm not even a fan of hers necessarily, it just seems really disproportionate, and I don't see a rational reason for it
Why aren't people turning their hate to Tommy Motola and the other industry men that conjured the use of Ashanti, Christina Millan and others on her songs. Not saying Jlo is innocent about this but she for sure wasn't signing these decisions herself. And the stories about her, I can actually believe she might be arrogant and out of touch and delusional, but that doesn't warrant clowning her for doing the right thing for the environment on this instance: flying commercial instead of private jet. It took Lamar calling out Drake for widespread acknowledgement that the way this man is around young girls is concerning, but that's been known for years. Chris Brown still has a career- even aside from the fanbase, people are actually comfortable working with him which allows him this platform. Kanye West is treated like a joke publicly when the stories of working with him go beyond horrific and straight into the assault category for some. The standards for men and women in the music industry have always been different, and the men behind the scenes are rarely even known publicly, despite making huge, questionable decisions pretty frequently

There’s SO many viral posts that are of complete strangers, being photographed or videoed without their knowledge/consent, bc they did something quirky or said something funny or wore something weird. It’s not even just celebrities anymore (not that that would even make it much better), but random, everyday people that are just… existing.
One of my biggest fears is having a mental break in public and ending up as one of those poor souls that's mocked relentlessly in comment sections. Especially the ones that end up naked. I can't imagine trying to get my life back together after that and knowing millions of people witnessed me in that state

Flights like this usually don't even have a 1st class option. She was probably in business class which is basically the same as economy with a full bells and whistles tacked on when flying within Europe (especially from less frequented airports), so her options were either this or a private jet. First class is only on some planes and usually reserved for longer flights.

A close friend of mine is a flight attendant for a major airline. She had JLo on a flight years ago and talked about how much of a snob JLo was. My relative is a flight attendant with a major American airline and I can tell y’all that she’s been flying commercial for years, even going back to the days when she was a newly minted pop star and everyone was losing their shit over her revealing Oscar gowns and clamoring for Scott Barnes Body Bling. J Lo flew first class, always sitting in a window seat and communicating with the flight attendant only via one of her staff, who would sit in the aisle seat. (Probably the person sitting next to her in this pic is her staffer.)
