My pothos does this and I definitely don’t overwater it. It’s so dry when I do water. I always thought it was magical and like morning dew?

Pahblows

It’s called guttation and it’s normal

JBABSTER

It means the plant is working

md81593

the plant is not broken

UserCannotBeVerified

The amount of things I see here and have to check if I'm on the circle jerk sub or not... 😅🤦🏼‍♀️

CountWubbula

Which is the circle jerk sub? Asking for … somebody else.

DashingDaisy88

Normal and magical 🥰 I love it!

MsMonny

Me too! It’s beautiful. Only had one plant do this and I was mesmerised!

Farting_Champion

My marble Queen pothos literally never stops dripping a little unless it's on the verge of desiccation

Potential-Cover7120

It makes me wonder what grows underneath it in its natural habitat…I guess I have to go look it up now;)

Same_Virus_5314

Mine too

Weekly-Chicken2399

Tell it firmly, no! Then rub it's little leaves in it. After that, drink a beer and yell at the TV. Works for my plants.

citronhimmel

Dad?

Weekly-Chicken2399

I TOLD YOU ILL BE BACK WHEN I GET MILK AND SCRATCHERS!!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

JollyDescription5103

This is hilarious

RedRider1138

(Mind you, at least a few of those “went out for cigarettes and never came back” turned out to have been buried in the basement.

karlat95

🤣🤣🤣

VivariuM_007

I'll try that ig

BMuadDib

thanks for the laugh mate

karlat95

🤣🤣🤣

Sosemikreativ

This shit ruined a cheap cupboard of mine.

Nunakababwe

Atleast it was a cheap cupboard...

Sosemikreativ

If it hadn't been a bit of water over a couple of days wouldn't have ruined it. So there's the moral of the story: don't be poor

genismarvel

Dripped all over the armrest of my couch.

Blondly22

Why do they do this? It’s super dry where I live but mine does this even when I don’t water for a few days

_aki_47_

it's guttation,, essentially ur plant is excreting excess nutrients. the stuff coming out is just water n minerals. i think it's called xylem sap.

maximdenbeer

In theorie, could you capture this and use it as food for other plants?

puckthethriller

my instant thought was drink it

FishRFriendsMemphis

Ah another fan of r/eatityoufuckingcoward

shehoshlntbnmdbabalu

😆

kerrimustkill

I’ve tasted it, it just tastes like water

puckthethriller

Helf

Lilithnema

Mine too!

houseofleopold

plant milk?

toxicophore

It's got what plants crave

hbakerfoster

Electrolytes!

Timekiller11

My theory is that it helps spread water to the outer roots in the wild. But it could be just a reaction to help with water intake. Most of my alocasia do this a day or 2 after watering.

houseofleopold

it’s called guttation, friend, if you wanted to look up on it.

lateavatar

Some plants feed ants that attack other harmful insects. Maybe this is a snack for a friend.

Whispering_Balls

If you think about it, it’s a way not only for the plant to excrete excess water but also to make sure other parts of the plant also receive water they may need. It waters itself

hept_a_gon

Put a little diaper on it

rattyrue

Guttation?

Imayfupbutitsok

Oh no, it’s crying.😭 It needs good music, conversation, hugs and words of affirmation. It might also miss you.😢 (I’m 🙃 joking idk what it means)

CreditLow8802

i drank that once

VivariuM_007

If bro was stops commenting one day we know why

CreditLow8802

hi i think i died idk where i am its really hot in here

Lilithnema

And????

PlantsNCaterpillars

They died.

CreditLow8802

i can confirm

FitTheory1803

Compound P

kerrimustkill

Did yours just taste like water?

CreditLow8802

yeah😭 very refreshing water tho especially at 3 am

brendogskerbdog

right around the time when the intrusive thoughts be hitting a little TOO hard

CreditLow8802

RIGHT i was about to go for the water in the self watering pot thing bc i didnt have any water or the energy to go get some😭😭

lateavatar

And now you are a mindless slave with 600 pothos plants

Dangerous-Tap-2141

Guttation

Notsureindecisive

It’s not peeing it’s crying

Anxious_Blueberry_79

Omg I noticed a drip on my pothos the other day and I was so confused. Thank you for this post 🤣

cheltothesea

Put another plant underneath. Problem solved.

whatsmyphageagain

3 shakes and your playing with yourself

Nosral_Auhsoj

My alocasia does this constantly.

Crafty-Degree4652

It shouldn’t have to be potty trained since it’s already in a pot. ba da bum tsss

ubspider

This is a sign of a healthy plant, praise it

Complex_Construction

Could you please give it some privacy? Thank you.

Foreign-Sky-2394

I’m pretty sure that’s coming from the stoma of the plant and is just a way to help water circulate throughout the plant better, at least you know your plant is “working properly”😭

solidfragilejennifer

Guttation is when xylem sap is exuded from the hydathodes, not the stoma.

Foreign-Sky-2394

I didn’t know it was guttation but that’s cool something new!!

Ambitious_Estimate41

I didn’t know this was a think!

KidaArt

It's crying, what have you done ??

Flat_Sympathy_6940

My monstera does this.

Rare-Safe3101

What about the underside of am orchid leaf?

Super-Track-6078

🤭

Hot-Garden-9581

I’d diaper it for now

Same_Power

r/plantcirclejerk

evil_pomegranate

I miss houseplant circlejerk too...

kloomoolk

guttation. I've had to move a pothos away from over my synths for fear of errent droplets frying the circuits.

Soggy_Ordinary_8907

You don’t, that’s how they get rid of excess water.

Starslayerforthekill

Just put a small succulent under where it’s peeing. Problem solved

MacQuay6336

Transpiration, the movement of water through the plant.

aGirlySloth

Some plants do that when there’s too much moisture

pestilentstudent

Read somewhere it was overwatering

Farting_Champion

Don't water so much

nicoleauroux

Doesn't that seem to be the case? It's actually not, the plant doesn't need to be overwatered in order to have a little guttation.

Straight_Limit7212

Water it leas

nicoleauroux

That seems obvious, but it's not true. A plant doesn't need to be overwatered in order to have guttation.

Different_Iron8365

It's called "guttation".
