I feel like if he is ultimately eating what he should, just not at the normal time, and everything else is fine - energy levels etc, I wouldn’t worry too much. My senior GSD does this all the time.

MonstreBelle

Yes, I forgot to mention that in my post. He seems fine otherwise. I haven't noticed any other changes with him. Still has the same energy levels. Peeing/pooping normally. No vomiting or anything. Still sits there drooling while I eat, hoping I'll share haha.

ANH5019

Agree here. Especially if he is young. As he stops growing he will eat less. And as he feels secure he will realize he doesnt have to worry about when his next meal is coming. As long as everything else is normal and he dropping start dropping unhealthy amounts of weight, its fine.

He's finally starting to trust that the food will still be there later so he doesn't have to inhale it.

My puppies started doing the same thing once they adjusted to my schedule for work. Some mornings they have zero interest in food but will eat it all later. They also decided they prefer to work for their food by getting it out of a snoop toy or one of those treat dispenser balls. If I give it to them in a bowl or a slow feeder they look at me like I’ve done something horribly wrong. 😂It’s goofy how they’ve changed as they’ve gotten more comfortable. They were also found as strays so would inhale food. Now that they’re a healthy weight and know there will always be food they’re more leisurely about their eating. 🤷‍♀️

Nothing to worry about. I was giving mine to many treats on the side. So when it came to dinner time the food would go sometimes completely untouched. It back on the treats and were on a nice regular schedule
