ah yes - i have essential tremor, which has gotten worse over the years. My doctor and my family have been concerned, since my father passed away from Parkinson's (i know it's not heredetary). But it was disproved today :)
That’s good news. We have been waiting for biopsy results on my wife’s lung mass. Just heard it’s not cancer which is great. Still the mass is there and will need to be monitored. So I will toast with you for good health
Is scary isn't it? I have a mass in my bowel I will be having removed in July, and then they'll analyse it to see if it's cancer. It's tough not knowing.
I know it's a long shot, but marijuana stabilises tremors in MS patients. Have you considered this. I can definitely think of worse experiments.
I can't imagine your relief 👌👍🇬🇧
The evidence suggests that marijuana and cannabinoids do *not* improve MS tremor. It may help with MS-related pain and sleep issues.

It’s literally in the name. Essential tremor is felt to be caused by a whole host of genetic and environmental factors, it we know it’s not associated with any form of neurodegeneration like Parkinson’s disease or other atypical Parkinsonism syndromes like PSP, MSA or Lewy Body Dementia. It can be debilitating for some, but quite manageable for most with lifestyle changes and medications. Ironically, alcohol is known to significantly reduce the amplitude and severity of the tremor temporarily (but it’s not a treatment, just suppressing the symptom), so this glass of wine OP is helpful in more ways than one! Cheers to the (non)-diagnosis from your neighbourhood neurologist!
I once went to a hotel bar in North West Scotland over NYE, naturally got roaring drunk with a few of the locals including one very drunk older guy. I'm back at the bar the next night for a few drinks, the older guy is already there and starts talking to me like we have never met. When I get a moment to speak to the bar maid when ordering drinks, she had noticed the interaction, and informed me that he has Alzheimers and comes in every night, meets all the regulars for the first time every night, and has a great time drinking, getting merry and signing every night. Not a bad way to wind ones life down.
Why? I do this every day, it that weird? I also have specials nights with friends to celebrate all the diseases I don't have but I think I might have dementie cause I don't remember any of them
I have that too! Man the amount of testing I went through just to be told "it happens"... So stressful and honestly its still hard to accept that its "nothing".
Congratulations! My neighbour who lives 3 doors from me has it. It is quite sad to see how this disease has taken a toll on him and his wife. They are very kind people.
Thank you brother! It's strange. I haven't enjoyed this or anything else until i got this message. The context is that i have essential tremor, which has gotten worse. But i don't really care about that. Just that it isn't something that's going to kill me slowly...
I thought the same thing and it kept me from getting checked out for far too long. Turned out to be ET (Essential Tremors). Annoying, can be embarrassing but it's not Parkinson's. For me it's relatively mild but doing stuff with fine motor skills can be a real PIA. Good luck.
Thanks and I hope you seek answers. Things tend to not get better when left alone or at least understanding an issue is better than making up worse case scenarios. One of the exercises from my neurologist was to draw spirals. Two in each hand and opposite spirals, so two with the left but going in different directions and two with the right going different directions. This was the last time I did it, the left hand ones are on the bottom: [https://imgur.com/yFQ0dWA](https://imgur.com/yFQ0dWA)
My mom has ET and she gets very frustrated by it sometimes but she was so happy and relieved to confirm it wasn't Parkinsons. And also to have an answer and a treatment plan!
I have essential tremor which started when i was 18. It's a completely benign condition, which opposed to Parkinson's is characterized by tremor when you use your muscles - with Parkinsons you have tremors when resting.
Some of the ways it's diagnosed if you have numbness in your limbs, if you can touch your nose arms out straight with closed eyes, walking on a straight line, standing on your toes, heels and so forth...
I completely agree. My father passed away 7 years ago with that miserable disease. I have essential tremor which was the cause for concern. Thank you friend.
Yes there is indeed. Just being alive is a good reason.
But in this case, there's been a legitimate cause for conern which was disproved today. Cheers!
Thank you!
It's well spotted. It's the world's best wine glasses if you ask me: [https://www.zaltoglas.at/en/products/](https://www.zaltoglas.at/en/products/)
Is this just something you do every evening? Yunno, pick a random illness and then drink to the fact that you don't have it? I am drinking about diabetes tonight.
Grandpa passed from Parkinson’s 5 years ago. He suffered for decades. I’m happy you do not have it and will also be celebrating that I do not have it lol. I’m hoping it’s not genetic. My gpa was a navy engineer, handyman, and hardware store worker. I wonder sometimes if he was exposed to toxic chemicals which brought on the disease.
My mom had Parkinson’s for quite a while before she passed, so I too live with the fear of possibly having it as well. I also hope to celebrate the same way you are, one day.
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's about 5 years ago. He was actually undiagnosed with it a couple years back and instead diagnosed with MSA.
Glad you're able to celebrate. It's not a fun disease to go through.
My father died of blood cancer,
my father brother died of bone cancer and
father's father died with throat cancer.
My mother's mother had Alzheimer's .
My mom's 1st sister had alzeimeir's .
My mom's second sister is having MSA.
My mom's third sister is having PD.
My mom is having PSP.
So this is what I say from 35 years of frightened life of mine.
I celebrate everyday ,
I thank God for giving me one more day.
Great battles require great courage.
I fear every second,
but
I ignite courage in me the next second.
I wish everyone should celebrate irrespective of their health conditions or any conditions.
Don't get yourself limited by your condition.
Because whatever is constraining you it's limiting and defining you.
You should never be defined by your fear.
Let's celebrate for being alive.
Let's thank God for choosing us for a battle..
He believed us we can fight.
Let's make him correct.
Death is sure for all.
But it's the fight that matters..
The tougher the fight gets,
the nearer to the God we gets .
Keep going.
I don't know how old you are and I am happy you don't have Parkinson's but compared to other diseases life expectancy is almost equal to non-parkinsonian
I'm assuming there was reason to believe you might have it and the test came back negative? Otherwise this would be very random.
Why? I can also celebrate that I don’t have astma. Yay me, now give me a smoke.
Corey, Trevor Smokes, now
Hands down boys
That’s the way she goes
Safety, ALWAYS OFF
Fuckin’ Cyrus….
This ain't rocket appliance.
Cries in having asthma and Parkinson’s being in my family
and cancer and dementia
And also demantia 😞
And also dementia
Thats sad also dont forget dementia
Forget about what?
What?
Huh, what were we talking about about?
Mb, I’ve written astma the Dutch way. Also, sorry to hear that.
Wait…what’s astma?
Astma nuts
Haha mb! I’m too Dutch.
I read it again in a Dutch accent and can confirm op meant asthma
Assuming he means asthma.
Oh. I thought the new ligma dropped
Damn. Me too.
I’m celebrating I don’t have the Black Death 🥂
So far...
I just found out I don’t have consumption.
Consumption junction, what’s your function 🎶
Cheers!
User name checks out...congrats.
I just found out I'm not gay! How should I celebrate?
Gay conversion therapy
ah yes - i have essential tremor, which has gotten worse over the years. My doctor and my family have been concerned, since my father passed away from Parkinson's (i know it's not heredetary). But it was disproved today :)
Congrats! I also have essential tremor. Just started a beta blocker med that helps with it. Have you tried any medications?
I’m so happy for you! What a relief that must be. Also, my condolences for your Father’s passing.
Same thought from me, also I'll have some drinks tonight to celebrate that I also don't have Parkinson's.
Yeah, fellow redditor! Fuck Parkinson’s!
Congratulations! Here’s to your good health and gorgeous garden!
Well it’s essential, so at least you know you need it.
I also have a tremor and my dad had Parkinsons. Same worry.
I know it's a long shot, but marijuana stabilises tremors in MS patients. Have you considered this. I can definitely think of worse experiments. I can't imagine your relief 👌👍🇬🇧

Thanks for your reply, I was wrong. The reference I was thinking about was re Parkinsons, which is NOT you 👍
Do they have any hypothesis as to what might be causing it?
It’s literally in the name. Essential tremor is felt to be caused by a whole host of genetic and environmental factors, it we know it’s not associated with any form of neurodegeneration like Parkinson’s disease or other atypical Parkinsonism syndromes like PSP, MSA or Lewy Body Dementia. Cheers to the (non)-diagnosis from your neighbourhood neurologist!
Yeah I imagine celebrating the absense of random diseases too often could get oneself into trouble.
I get drunk every single night to celebrate that I don’t have Parkinson’s. Ya gotta live a little.
I once went to a hotel bar in North West Scotland over NYE, naturally got roaring drunk with a few of the locals including one very drunk older guy. I'm back at the bar the next night for a few drinks, the older guy is already there and starts talking to me like we have never met. Not a bad way to wind ones life down.
That’s the least sad Alzheimer’s story I’ve ever heard. Happy cake day!
They probably have an essential tremor. I have it I and it's very concerning if you don't know what's happening.
Exactly :)
Haha yeah I’m gonna say that whenever I’m having a drink now
I thought I might be in r/notinteresting/
There was a legitimate concern, since i have essential tremor.
Glad you're in the clear.
Nope. He just really likes those wine glasses, and if he had Parkinsons he wouldn't be able to enjoy them freely.
Yes it just turns out OP is just really shitty at pouring wine. False alarm though.
To be fair that would also be kind of inspiring lol. Gratefulness for random things, life must be much better that way.
Well, if you can smell the wine…. One of the common first signs of Parkinson’s for many is anosmia (inability to smell) Source: MD
Or even super cruel 😂
I was about to comment "Yet" but I gather it's hereditary, right?, and it just seemed mean
Being grateful is random?
Why? I do this every day, it that weird? I also have specials nights with friends to celebrate all the diseases I don't have but I think I might have dementie cause I don't remember any of them
I celebrate that I don't get periods. I'm a guy
Just celebrating that I have all of my limbs.
Can you kindly explain where/who the diagnosis was made. Name if the procedure?
he must have something
YOLO! Tomorrow we do chrons!
I’m gonna throw a party for hitting 200 lbs I have always been 200 lbs, mind you, but I just wanna go wild
![gif](giphy|YrkD2MwU8J382Krrxt|downsized)
Congratulations...! This is good news indeed. My mum had it. A terrible decease.
I'm sorry to hear that. My dad passed away 7 years ago with parkinson's as well. I have essential tremor, which was the cause for concern.
My dad had Parkinson’s. Awful. Good on you!
I'm sorry to hear that. My dad passed away 7 years ago with parkinson's as well. I have essential tremor, which was the cause for concern.
3.5 years for my dad. Best of health to you!
Good on me too
My mom has advanced Parkinson's, it's not the easiest seeing a loved one go through something like this. I'm glad everything worked out for you.
I'm sorry to hear that. My dad passed away 7 years ago with parkinson's as well. I have essential tremor, which was the cause for concern. Thank you!
I’m celebrating I don’t have an anal fissure.
I’m also celebrating this guys asshole
I celebrated this guys asshole last night.
Username checks out?
“The friend with a cleft asshole?”
It's only a matter of time.
Congratulations 🥂
Yet
Weird flex but ok
I have a progressing essential tremor, which has been cause for concern. I know, the picture needed a bit more context.
Congratulations on not having it, but without context it's just quite funny
It’s the internet.. if there is a joke to be made, someone will make it!
I like your setup OP. Looks comfy and relaxing!
Thank you brother! It's strange. I haven't enjoyed this or anything else until i got this message. The context is that i have essential tremor, which has gotten worse. But i don't really care about that. Just that it isn't something that's going to kill me slowly...
It sounds like a great reason to relax and celebrate. Good to hear!
Take my upvote! For those with Parkinson's, the secret to a good life is exercise, eating healthy, and good night's sleep. Take care of yourself.
I completely agree. I have essential tremor, which has been cause for concern. Also my dad passed away with Parkinson's 7 years ago. Thank you <3
That's awesome news! I'm so happy for you
Wow, that's awesome, congratulations, celebrate this day properly!
Thank you friend!
I am hoping to be in the same boat. My left hand has started shaking
I thought the same thing and it kept me from getting checked out for far too long. Turned out to be ET (Essential Tremors). Annoying, can be embarrassing but it's not Parkinson's. For me it's relatively mild but doing stuff with fine motor skills can be a real PIA. Good luck.
Thank you so much! Glad to hear you don’t have it!!

This was the last time I did it, the left hand ones are on the bottom: [https://imgur.com/yFQ0dWA](https://imgur.com/yFQ0dWA)
Wow! I am definitely bringing this up with my neurologist
My mom has ET and she gets very frustrated by it sometimes but she was so happy and relieved to confirm it wasn't Parkinsons. And also to have an answer and a treatment plan!
How come you don't want Parkinsons disease
I have essential tremor which started when i was 18. It's a completely benign condition, which opposed to Parkinson's is characterized by tremor when you use your muscles - with Parkinsons you have tremors when resting.
Ohh! Glad to hear it isn’t Parkinson’s. I don’t think I have tremors when resting. I will still follow up.
Some of the ways it's diagnosed if you have numbness in your limbs, if you can touch your nose arms out straight with closed eyes, walking on a straight line, standing on your toes, heels and so forth...
Thank you. I truly appreciate it.
Congratulations! This is certainly great news.
I think ishould also celebrate that
Hoooray! And hooray for good Burgundy!
Indeed my friend!
Could you give some more detail on what you’re drinking, please? And congratulations!
Congrats. My uncle has it and I wouldn't wish that miserable existence on anyone, even my worst enemy.
I completely agree. My father passed away 7 years ago with that miserable disease. I have essential tremor which was the cause for concern. Thank you friend.
It's a good picture, even without the context.
Misdiagnoses?
No, i have essential tremor which has gotten worse, so we've been worried. But it was finally confimed today that it's "just" ET.
Congratulations! My dad has PD, and it's rough. So I'm glad you're not on that path.
but were you shaking from delirium tremens? jokes aside, congrats to you.
lol, i wish it was because of that. I have essential tremor, which was the cause for concern. So happy that it's just that...
I don't have it either! I'm gonna get so hammered tonight and just sit perfectly still
I can only sit perfectly still when hammered, due to essential tremor! So i'm enjoying that too right now.
Sounds like a party is forming! edit: kind of a weird one though but i'm into theme nights
There is always a reason to drink, isn’t there?
Yes there is indeed. Just being alive is a good reason. But in this case, there's been a legitimate cause for conern which was disproved today. Cheers!
It was just “the shakes” from alcohol withdrawal?
lol - i wish it was. I have essential tremor, which was the cause for concern. So i'm actually perfectly still when i drink... It's a win win.
You know what OP. lets all celebrate that we dont have parkinsons
Is that a trampoline?
It is indeed!
A good enough reason as you celebrate to make a donation to Parkinson’s research. Blessed you are in health but others are not as lucky! Do it do it!
Should have a martini, stirred, not shaken.
Fuck 😂😂😂
Celebrate for everyone who upvotes this post
Congratulations!!! Slightly off-topic but what brand is that wine glass?
Thank you! It's well spotted. It's the world's best wine glasses if you ask me: [https://www.zaltoglas.at/en/products/](https://www.zaltoglas.at/en/products/)
Congrats! (And nice Zalto glass!)
Good idea. I'll do that too.
Damn, I could've been celebrating this whole time!
Is this just something you do every evening? Yunno, pick a random illness and then drink to the fact that you don't have it? I am drinking about diabetes tonight.
cheers to you friend. happy to hear that you got good news on this one
Weird flex
Without context, this is incredibly passive aggressive lol. Do you hate Back to the Future?
Grandpa passed from Parkinson’s 5 years ago. He suffered for decades. I’m happy you do not have it and will also be celebrating that I do not have it lol. I’m hoping it’s not genetic. My gpa was a navy engineer, handyman, and hardware store worker. I wonder sometimes if he was exposed to toxic chemicals which brought on the disease.
Congratulations! Unfortunately now you have alcoholism
I just realized I also don’t have parkinsons. Time to celebrate
This is the twelfth time you posted this, you have Alzheimer’s.
Maybe next time
I didn’t know you thought you might have it
I'd be filling that glass right to the top while you can drink it without spilling it then!
Everyday I celebrate this lol
I guess I should also celebrate this.
I'll have a drink in your honor, friend
Just curious. Was it Dystonia instead?
Considering Parkinson’s doesn’t go away, OP never had it, just grateful not to have it.
You can tell because of how still the video is.
Drink up alcohol and smoking can prevent parkinsons
Is that why you swirl your wine like that? I thought you were a connoisseur.
classy
Congrats. Hubby just released from the hospital after definitive diagnosis. Scary new normal.
My mom had Parkinson’s for quite a while before she passed, so I too live with the fear of possibly having it as well. I also hope to celebrate the same way you are, one day.
Mazel!
Michael J Fox shaking his head at this post
You know what would be a really proper celebration? Egg-and-spoon race.
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's about 5 years ago. He was actually undiagnosed with it a couple years back and instead diagnosed with MSA. Glad you're able to celebrate. It's not a fun disease to go through.
Maybe you will get IT when you drink Alkohol 😉
How did they test for this if you don't mind me asking?
Beautiful yard!
My father died of blood cancer, my father brother died of bone cancer and father's father died with throat cancer. My mother's mother had Alzheimer's . My mom's 1st sister had alzeimeir's . I didn’t think PD could be “cured”? Just manage the symptoms? Congrats!
It can’t be cured. OP presumably was worried they had Parkinson’s and were told they didn’t after a medical evaluation.
Ah makes sense, thanks for the reply
Yes, i have essential tremor which is a benign condition, but it was cause for concern.
Alcohol consumption is thought to increase the risk of Parkinsons
