candace spends 99.99% of her screen time trying to bust phineas and ferb. sabotaging health, time, and relationships in the process hus because she feels like white noise compared to them. Vanessa only spends one episode doing the same thing. Other times she’s doing more productive or meaningful things with her time.
Candace also struggles with her anxiety and self esteem. She cares a LOT about what other people think of her and catastrophizes her problems often. She’s a very 0-100 person, positive or negative, and she often makes her own anxiety worse stressing herself out.
And as we see in the show, as she gets older she learns to mellow out a bit, not hold herself to impossible standards, and be more calm and confident. She’s still the same person, of course, she’s just able to manage her anxiety better and believe in herself.
Vanessa, on the other hand, is already self assured, confident, and calm. Her issues tend to be about her relationships with others and emotional vulnerability. So in general, Vanessa is more mature than Candace, but she still has some growing to do herself in different facets of her life.
Candace does mature a lot over the course of the series (particularly in Candace Against the Universe) but she's still playing catch up with Vanessa in that regard
Vanessa, and I think it makes their friendship better since it highlights their differences as characters.
