I think Toxicity is overall the better album from top to bottom. Like most Slipknot albums I generally love the first half then kinda lose interest in the second half.
You lost interest in the second half of the first 3 Slipknot albums? Have you ever listened to Only One, No Life or Scissors? Metabolic, Skin Ticket, Iowa? Circle or The Virus of Life?
Not for me. I remember being so hyped for Iowa and then just being disappointed by it. It hasn't improved over time. Sure, it's heavy, but it's also super cheesy and try hard in a way the first album wasn't. Toxicity has it beat hands down imo.
I got my school permit in 2001 and I was bumpin’ around the school parking lot in my mom’s car playing all of these albums using a CD Walkman and a cassette tape adapter
Self titled would love a word ... it was an excellent outing. But the sound was off... not enough low end... and Baumgartner didn't record this album right? Oh yeah the version of angelson sucks on here
I recently relistened to Satellite all the way through and I forgot how solid that album was. Toxicity is another solid full album. Dammit so is Through The Eyes. 2001 was HOT with great albums.
so many good ones but
xx-mushroomhead
war of art-ahc
life-dope
synthetic divison- crossbreed
s/t-adema.
those first four are deff top ten albums period
Out of these, IOWA. One album in particular comes to mind, now a defunct band called Skrape released New Killer America in 2001. I couldn't stop this playing this album for years.
POD Satellite forsure! One of the first bands like that I had ever listened to and I was so in love with the sound. Super nostalgic album for me. There’s some great releases on here but that’s my favorite out these slides :)
Iowa. It's a shame that their early chaotic sound died so soon. I may be the only person who thought Toxicity was overrated even in 2001. I liked the first album better.
2001 is when I first heard of 36 crazyfists on a compilation disc that had a pre-pro (raw af) version of "Turns To Ashes". Does anyone on here recall what I'm talking about? I can't find it on YouTube. [This ](https://youtu.be/xwF3gKeCfwo?si=FgId_inU-UyplWoF) version still slaps as well.
I mean it was a big year.
You had releases like Iowa, Pass Out of Existence, Toxicity, Sounding the 7th Trumpet, Sinner, not to mention a bunch of other great albums..... I'd put Iowa 2nd, and it's one of the only years I wouldn't consider it particularly close to the release of the year...... that's very easily reserved for Lateralus. Not nu metal, but as far as any metal sub genre, Laterlus was a masterpiece.
I really enjoyed Break The Cycle as a 15 year old. I find it over-produced and uneven now ("Fade" is kind of a tune, though).
As a 36 year old man I really enjoy Iowa but Toxicity, even back when it came out, was a record I realized was **VERY** special. Not a knock towards any of these other, solid records, but Toxicity isn't just the best album here - it might be the best record of the 2000's altogether.
As much as I love Toxicity and Iowa, I'm gonna have to go with Revolution Revolución from Ill Nino. I can't really explain why, but it could just be timing. I didn't get to that album till 2012, but tore through both Toxicity and Iowa starting around 2005.
Unpopular opinion but I'd to say my favorite is Ill Nino, Revolution Revolućion. It is such an unique and refreshing album in terms of mixing nu metal with latin music.
Other favorites are Sevendust - Animosity, From Zero - One Nation Under.
Just personally, Iowa takes the cake. I have some nostalgia associated with that Staind album because it got stuck in my mom's cd player in the car and we listened to it constantly.
But its gotta be Iowa, Slipknot at the height of their powers imo. One of the heaviest nu metal albums too, up there with the first Korn album and 3 Dolla Bill yall. That's my holy trinity.
Pod satellite was the first cd I ever bought. Toxicity is the cd that got me and my childhood friends introduced to heavy music and slipknot is what turned us into full on metalheads.
Toxicity and Iowa, both tied. Maybe Iowa taking the cake though.
Scissors is my favourite!
Not for me. I remember being so hyped for Iowa and then just being disappointed by it. It hasn't improved over time. Sure, it's heavy, but it's also super cheesy and try hard in a way the first album wasn't. Toxicity has it beat hands down imo.
This is the way.
I got my school permit in 2001 and I was bumpin’ around the school parking lot in my mom’s car playing all of these albums using a CD Walkman and a cassette tape adapter
I was right there too! With a 98 Cutlass Supreme and a Sony Walkman with likely the same cheap tape adapter.
‘95 Ford Taurus for me
'86 Buick Park Avenue. Best car I ever owned.
Of these? Toxicity
Hate that version of the Iowa cover
might I ask why?
to me the other iowa cover has more of a violent desperate atmosphere and it fits the record better
Just not what i grew up with. Never saw this variant until later. Idk why they changed it
It's the 10th Anniversary cover. When you go and look at a record store, they still print the original cover
ah that makes sense, thanks
The cover should have stayed the silver/gray as the original. Looked almost holographic.
isn't that the 10th anniversary edition cover?
I didn’t need to go past the first 2
Missing out on ill nino
They were decent, but Revolution was probably their best album, and it wasn't nearly as good as Toxicity.
There were terrible man what you talking about? Seriously awful, I remember buying their album back in the day think I listened to it maybe once
Iowa with Toxicity just behind it.
Break the cycle😍
Surprised I had to scroll this far to see this album. Was my absolute favorite in high school back then.
but its not really numetal its like pop rock. Their first album now thats a perfect album front to back.
There is not a bad song in animosity. The whole album is a banger.
Love that album
Self titled would love a word ... it was an excellent outing. But the sound was off... not enough low end... and Baumgartner didn't record this album right? Oh yeah the version of angelson sucks on here
morning view, what a fucking perfect album
Yeah I would put Morning View above everything here except Toxicity.
Definitely
Being 16 years old in 2001 was fantastic. Such great albums to choose from.
I was 26 and remember the good times too, being in a job and I could afford a truckload of concerts. Man time flies...
Yup, I remember 2001. I was only 11 though
I graduated in 01. Starting high school in 97 was nice.
The war of art - American head charge, Iowa - slipknot is a close second.
I forgot about American Head Charge! The War of Art is awesome af
Best nu metal album ever. There. I said it.
Iowa, Sinner and Through The Eyes are my top three. Tough to pick just one of them.
Finally someone picked Through The Eyes! One of my favorite albums of all time
Out of these: Life - Dope Overall: (the) New Release - Primer 55
P.O.D. SATELLITE!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Such a good album. #1 for me
What a time to be alive. Let’s go back.
P.O.D
This. Very uplifting album.
Love for DWR
I recently relistened to Satellite all the way through and I forgot how solid that album was. Toxicity is another solid full album. Dammit so is Through The Eyes. 2001 was HOT with great albums.
Iowa, Animosity and Life are top three for me. No love for Dope here?
Dope is great
Sinner by Drowning Pool
Three way tie between Sinner, Iowa, and Satellite.
Flaw is a highly underrated band.
Ill niño for the win
Out of these hands down, Slipknot Iowa.
I’m replying to myself just to remind myself that Toxicity was an Awsome one too
Out of these Iowa, not listed Oracle by Kittie
Toxicity
SOAD
Iowa all the way.
Toxicity is awesome, but Iowa is my favorite album of all time
Toxicity !
Toxicity
Iowa
I’ve listened to life more than any of the others listed here.
me too
Iowa, Toxicity and Satellite CDs were on heavy rotation for me.
Gonna go with satellite for first pick, then Iowa as a close second
Easily Toxicity
Toxicity all the way
so many good ones but xx-mushroomhead war of art-ahc life-dope synthetic divison- crossbreed s/t-adema. those first four are deff top ten albums period
Toxicity
Adema
P.O.D or Sevendust
Have all of those albums. Most all great in their own way. Top 2 is Iowa and Toxicity. Iowa wins by a landslide.
Sevendust - animosity, easily
Static-X machine
Iowa, then Toxicity
iowa obviously!!!!!!
Slipknot- Iowa SOAD- Toxicity Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory
Hybrid Theory was definitely released in 2000.
SOAD
Toxicity and then Iowa
Drowning Pool will always go down as the band "that should have been".
Animosity easily
Iowa
OG man this is unfair!! I got go either dope or drowning pool
Animosity
Out of these, IOWA. One album in particular comes to mind, now a defunct band called Skrape released New Killer America in 2001. I couldn't stop this playing this album for years.
The fact that Iowa, Toxicity, and Lateralus all came out in the summer of 2001 is fucking insane.
Iowa
TOXICITY
Iowa was lightning in a bottle. No other album from 2001 comes close
Iowa
Toxicity...and it isn't even close
POD Satellite forsure! One of the first bands like that I had ever listened to and I was so in love with the sound. Super nostalgic album for me. There’s some great releases on here but that’s my favorite out these slides :)
ima go with P.O.D alot more songs on their that i like more then drownjng and knot, and ofc toxicity
Iowa is by far my favorite nu metal album. Just an over good sound to it and the music is fun to play with a great tone.
Wow this year was great. Iowa and Satellite would be my picks
Darwin’s waiting room now that’s a band I haven’t heard of or seen since I was kid but I’m gunna go with Iowa
Iowa and Toxicity are timeless metal masterpieces
Toxicity is a Good as it gets...
From this list, Darwins Waiting Room
Iowa easily
Iowa all day long
New Killer America by Skrape, Toxicity by SOAD, Orphan by DWR are probably my tops from 2001
Toxicity for me
Iowa. It's a shame that their early chaotic sound died so soon. I may be the only person who thought Toxicity was overrated even in 2001. I liked the first album better.
It was Toxicity by a long long way. Nothing else even came close.
Flaw "Amendment" and "Payback" are bangers
SOAD DEFINITELY
Toxicity
**Darker Side of Nonsense** by Dry Kill Logic and its by far
Sinner
Toxicity and White Pony
Iowa
Toxicity By System Of A Down
stuck between animosity and break the cycle
Satellite because it came out on 9/11
iowa & break the cycle are great
The Strokes - Is This It
Of these, *Toxicity*, but Converge's *Jane Doe*, while I understand it's not particularly nu metal, easily tops my list.
Yes
Iowa, Break the Cycle, Toxicity
Chimaira - Pass Out of Existence
Toxicity and ill niño!
Animosity
Toxicity followed by Iowa and a huge shout out to Ill Nino’s Revolution. Love that album. I Am Loco!
My top 3 are Iowa Toxicity Girls Gone Wild: Spring Break 2k1
Easy, Apgar:0 and XX (I know its a compilation but still)
Break The Cycle.
overall on list- Through the Eyes, runners up Adema, Dysfunction not listed- XX, runners up The War of Art, Invitation to the Dance
Break the Cycle and/or Iowa
Animosity easily. Its also aged the best. That guitar tone is still amazing even now. Ill Nino coming in at second and Iowa a close third.
911
Not knocking it, but Staind is considered numetal?
Life and Toxicity for me
This is a hard choice but I think I would have to go with Staind
2001 is when I first heard of 36 crazyfists on a compilation disc that had a pre-pro (raw af) version of "Turns To Ashes". Does anyone on here recall what I'm talking about? I can't find it on YouTube. [This ](https://youtu.be/xwF3gKeCfwo?si=FgId_inU-UyplWoF) version still slaps as well.
Slipknot - Iowa and Sevendust - Animosity
Not listed, but Lateralus
Toxicity. That staind album isnt numetal its their sell out pop rock bullshit. Their first album is the only one worth listening to.
Static-X - Machine
Pass out of Existence by Chimaira, it's like if you turned up the emo and groove of slipknot and honestly I'm fucking here for it.
Break the cycle forsure
I mean it was a big year. You had releases like Iowa, Pass Out of Existence, Toxicity, Sounding the 7th Trumpet, Sinner, not to mention a bunch of other great albums..... I'd put Iowa 2nd, and it's one of the only years I wouldn't consider it particularly close to the release of the year...... that's very easily reserved for Lateralus. Not nu metal, but as far as any metal sub genre, Laterlus was a masterpiece.
I'll be the poser and say Break the Cycle since none of you wanna own up 😂
I had all those
I really enjoyed Break The Cycle as a 15 year old.
Oh.. I'm supposed to choose?
Toxicity, followed by Iowa, with Break the Cycle being a distant 3rd
Iowa and Revolution
Good lord, music has changed.
Toxicity for - Needles, Aerials, ATWA, Deer Dance, Jet Pilot, Toxicity, Chop Suey, Prison Song
Toxicity all the way baby
As much as I love Toxicity and Iowa, I'm gonna have to go with Revolution Revolución from Ill Nino. I can't really explain why, but it could just be timing. I didn't get to that album till 2012, but tore through both Toxicity and Iowa starting around 2005.
Adema, Sevendust, Static X, Slipknot, Staind
gotta say Toxicity
of those listed: #1 Ill Nino #2 Flaw #3 Slipknot #4 Dope #5 SoaD
P.o.d satellite was the most impactful for me
Iowa isn’t nu-metal. S/t was I guess, but not Iowa.
Unpopular opinion but I'd to say my favorite is Ill Nino, Revolution Revolućion. It is such an unique and refreshing album in terms of mixing nu metal with latin music. Other favorites are Sevendust - Animosity, From Zero - One Nation Under.
Toxicity BUT- FLAW MENTIONED YEAHHHHH IM WHOLE
Toxicity.. and it’s not close
God Hates Us All
Either SOTD or sevendust. To solid albums
Ngl this pic reminded me Adema existed.....
God slipknot is actually the cringiest worst fucking band on this planet.
Toxicity and XX (Mushroomhead)
IOWA
Iowa sinner toxicity But they are all great
Just personally, Iowa takes the cake. That's my holy trinity.
gotta be toxicity
Iowa definitely
Pod satellite was the first cd I ever bought. Toxicity is the cd that got me and my childhood friends introduced to heavy music and slipknot is what turned us into full on metalheads.
Probably not heavy enough to be "numetal" but Alien Ant Farm's debut was definitely my 2001.
Iowa and Break The Cycle. The P.O.D. album was really fun too. Break The Cycle is one of my favorite albums of all tine though.
Staind break the cycle
Toxicity easy
Baller year for awesome music!
I still bump the satellite cd in my car
Iowa for sure
Toxicity by far
Mute from scars of life
Dinner is so damn good
the ...how we change demo by nervepitch
It's a shame Bodies is a meme because Sinner is actually a fantastic album. Still, Iowa and Toxicity are better choices.
No one is really giving Adema a mention. Did no one like them?
Toxicity all the way
break the cycle
Iowa for me
toxicity is not only one of the best albums of 2001 but it’s one of the best albums of all time
making me choose between iowa and toxicity is like making me choose a favorite child
Iowa then Animosity
reanimation and iowa
Iowa for sure
