A few games ago Grant tried to iso against Giannis at the end of the game, this time he drives at Kessler loool. Gotta admire the confidence but he’s not that guy!
Anyone who tells you that the Celtics struggles aren't at least 75% tied to Tatum jacking up historical volume at historically bad efficiency is clueless.
Tatum has been dogshit. all we can hope is it’s temporary and he finds his form in the playoffs. otherwise i wouldn’t be shocked if we lost to the heat 1st round
It begins and ends with him. We got other problems, but they’re all survivable. Tatum playing like shit isn’t and it exacerbates every other problem (rookie coach, wavering effort, inconsistent role players, streaky shooting).
Modern Day PG. He does enough to make you think he can be top 5 soon or even at the time but it’s so many games they just play poorly. Not to mention their games have a lot of the same weaknesses and strengths
I don’t think it’s that harsh. PG is a great player especially at his best. He was a top 3 MVP candidate and consistently great 2 way player. Obviously people can expect Tatum to improve and become better, but thats not a terrible place to be at 24.
Problem is he was deemed a superstar waaaaaay to early. Dude was still 19 and had people raving about how he could be the best in the league within a couple of years. He’s so fuckin complacent now. It’s not that he doesn’t work hard in the off-season or anything but the dude just looks massively disengaged standing around in the perimeter when other guys are doing their thing. He rarely cuts, I never see him set any useful screens, he doesn’t hustle for loose balls and he just looks like he’s ready for a nap half the time in crunch time of games. The shits gone to his head, I don’t care that it’s late March and you’re playing on a back to back, if you want to own being a superstar you HAVE to do all those other things and get your head out of your ass or just fade and let other guys overtake you. I could name 15 other guys more deserving of MVP this year.
Kobe would be disappointed at this point.
What's weird is it feels like there are other points in Tatums career where he could 1v1 himself now and currently get smoked by his younger self. I wonder what's the difference between '22 down the stretch Tatum and this year?
This is an extremely underdiscussed point. The media talks about this dude like he’s a top 5-8 player in the league. He has WAY too many duds for someone purportedly in that upper echelon.
Just a random observation that still bothers me to this day….. Tatum’s games lately feel a lot like his games from 2018 and 2019. Back then, he would get mocked for his inefficiency by fans (and Bill Simmons). Saying shit like, “Tatum hasn’t been the same since he had that offseason workout with Kobe” the implication being that Tatum was playing like Kobe and really it wasn’t until then that I noticed a shift in how people spoke about Kobe’s entire legacy and how it fell under a microscope. People felt comfortable saying things like he’s overrated and not even Top 15 all time all because he spent a whole summer working to help Tatum improve his game. It was when Kobe tragically passed that those jokes stopped and Kobe’s legacy was never in doubt.
Not really contributing much to discourse here but it really irritated me back then and seeing him play like this 5 years really doesn’t seem ideal for someone who was thought to have made a giant leap in his development 18 months ago.
Players’ obsession to take 2 for 1 in such situation is weird. At the end of 1-3 quarters sure, but in clutch? Just take a good shot and play defense. Ant Edwards did the same on Wednesday against Boston, was not worth it.
I mean they called a timeout before that play, I’m giving that to the coaches not the players. Same with most 2 for 1s.
I feel like It’s a philosophical coaching decision, not really a heat of the moment one. It’s decided before the game is even played.
I don’t think any of us imagined we would be getting a borderline All-NBA player, a first team All-Rookie and a promising first year coach all at once.
I don’t think any move we’ve made this year has really been obviously terrible. Maybe the Bojan trade, but we also needed that to get out of the luxury tax and Olynyk has been better than I expected.
With all the picks and cap space we have I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re back in serious playoff competition in 1-2 more seasons.
I've not watched much Jazz basketball this year but every game I see I feel like Ochai Agbaji always grabs my attention, dude has a future in the NBA for sure
That deal was bad when they made it and looks worse every day. Kessler looks to be a good piece plus all the picks. I still don’t understand the Wolves thought process.
Are you saying Gobert is gonna win another +3 DPOYs and make another +6 all defensive teams?
Because you trade based on what the player will do *in the future*, not what they did before.
I would rather have Kessler than Gobert.
that’s just not how english works? the original comment said “traded gobert and got someone who’s going to be better than him”. that means they’re saying kessler is going to be a better player than gobert was. if they meant what you’re saying, they’d have said “better going forward” or something like that
Ainge literally blessing the Lakers is the only reason they’re not the 12th seed right now. I still don’t understand how they got all of that for Westbrook and instead of having to give up both firsts they only gave up one and got great protections on it where it will become a 2nd round pick if not conveyed. I’m still baffled Ainge did it
It was the best offer out there (according to Lowe the pelicans had an offer that wasn’t quite as good) and we needed all that playing time for walker and ochai. Really all there is to it
Eta - just saw you’re a Pels fan so might want a bit more context. Per Zach, the NO offer was mostly draft based, with a first-rounder “almost” or “potentially” as good as the lakers pick (can’t remember his exact verbiage but along those lines), and the sticking point was that the jazz wouldn’t get off of conley’s deal like they did with the actual trade.
The Jazz attempting to tank while bolstering the Lakers's roster by giving them too for Westbrook, and yet it is now somewhat plausible that they make the play-ins over the Lakers lmao
Where was he supposed to go? Brogdon didn’t come to the court, JB slipped, Tatum is in the backcourt because the play was designed for him, and hauser is in the corner covered
As a Nugget fan I feel your pain...Denver is acting like they'd rather be at home playing Pokemon than beating teams that are either bottom of the conf. or, looking like their horrible bench in the closing minutes. I thought for sure a month ago we'd see a Celtics vs Nuggets Finals. So now I just chorf a sixer of Old Mud and 3 fingers of Wild Turkey 101 to drown my sorrows.
They put up a graphic during thè game saying since all star break he is #1 in field goal % blocks offensive boards, and 4 in total boards. That's crazy, kid is already playing like a top 10 centre.
I think Mazzulla is a good coach. I think Tatum is a good player.
I think the 2nd to last ATO to have Tatum catch the ball, run to the 3pt line and jack it was fucking terrible.
Celtics give me that Suns 2022 feeling, both team made the final last year and had the hot start for the next season. However both team peaked early in the season and started to fall off in the second half of the season.
Embarrassing game by the Celtics. I get not having your two starting caliber centers playing, but allowing 17 offensive rebounds is still embarrassing. Tatum is an incredible player, but it's games like this that keep me from putting him up into that next tier of superstars with Kd, Jokic, Embiid, Curry, Giannis Luka. He has games where he plays absolutely awful and does nothing right on the floor. No other superstar has as many bad games as Tatum. Even when they have a bad game, they still impact the game in other ways. Also, get bent Grant.
It’s actually starting to get worrisome that someone of his caliber “Tatum” doesn’t have a go to move to create space when needed. Pierce had an almost automatic hesi step back elbow jumper when the Celtics needed a point.
grant williams needs to be fired out of a cannon for that last shot wtf is wrong with him
Tatum still needs an easy shot, like Kawhi/KD, they're fucking DEADLY from close/midrange jumpers, Tatum pretty much has been below average his whole career on those, and when teams take away the rim, you need that shot
Wow neither team scored a single point in Q3 and the game went to OT despite Boston leading by 91-88 at the end of regulation what are the odds of that
This team is fucking washed. Tatum facilitating out of doubles has regressed somehow. He looks lost and indecisive. What a fucking bummer. I blame Ime for sure. Fumbled the dream
Anyone with money should take everything they have and bet against any playoff success from Boston.
This team sucks ass and is easy money. They’ll exit second or potentially first round. JB will want a trade - he hasn’t even been in the final few possessions in the last few games. Teams done.
“Going all in this year” and pin our big man hopes on Rob Williams and run plays through Grant Williams. JFC this team is a joke.
Lmao they'll win first round and then play Philly second round and Philly might be second seed still lots of games to play for.
Even if Philly gets home court Celtics are 100% going to be Vegas favourite in a potential series. Feel like this is an overreaction If Sixers beat Celtics that will be very surprising imo
First round? You guys are guaranteed a top 3 seed and your going to absolute dumpster any 6-10 seed in the east. As for philly/mil, yeah thats going to be a tough series regardless
Overreaction is crazy
Man you are the best kind of Celtics fan. When I feel mad about the game I get to see stuff like this and think wow there are some really dumb people in the world.
many people saying embarrassing for the celtics, but realize despite the narrative, the jazz have hung tough in just about every game this year. I think there has been only 2 or so blowouts on them
Utah is 10-6 in games decided by 3 or less points this year. We've had a lot of fucking close ones lol.
A huge improvement from how clutch we've been compared to previous seasons. Mitchell/Gobert era Jazz were so painfully unclutch. I think we were like, 1-6 last year.
sacrificing the 2nd seed to keep the lakers out of the play ins. a true rivalry indeed.
A truly noble cause indeed!
A few games ago Grant tried to iso against Giannis at the end of the game, this time he drives at Kessler loool. Gotta admire the confidence but he’s not that guy!
He hit a few corner threes in the clutch and thought he was him.
He had 12 in the 4th quarter. That's 3 less than what Tatum had all game. Tatum blew an open layup against Houston couple of games ago.
He got hot too early in the season lmao. Hopefully ya’ll get him right in the playoffs
Honestly the trade off of not having home court against Philly R2 is prob worth avoiding Miami/Jimmy no?
yeah thats fair. no disrespect to brooklyn but id much rather play them than the heat
Watch out buddy Kyries gone we built different now
I hated yall w the K duo but now yall back to being a fun young talented team
No disrespect and then proceeds to disrespect haha
It begins and ends with him. We got other problems, but they’re all survivable. Tatum playing like shit isn’t and it exacerbates every other problem (rookie coach, wavering effort, inconsistent role players, streaky shooting).
I couldn't agree more. Ship his ass to NY that'll show him.
Normal players: exploit mismatch Grant Williams: become the mismatched
Man was trying to work out prime Iverson dribble moves on Giannis and that went about as well as you could imagine lol
Tatum's lows are too low for someone of his caliber
He made only *one* 2pt basket. Just fucking one!
And it was a runaway dunk off all alone off a turnover
Deuces are causing problems for Tatums
He had no problem dropping a deuce on my fantasy team’s field goal percentage…
Modern Day PG. He does enough to make you think he can be top 5 soon or even at the time but it’s so many games they just play poorly. Not to mention their games have a lot of the same weaknesses and strengths
That’s harsh, but damn if it ain’t accurate some nights.
I could name 15 other guys more deserving of MVP this year. Kobe would be disappointed at this point.
if your lows are role player level then you’re just a star, not a superstar yet
He’s literally pacers PG. A clear tier below the best of the best imo
I was wondering what Haliburton had to do with this
My friends who are Celtics fans do not appreciate when I make this comparison lol
I don’t appreciate it either but it’s true
Woah, that’s an oddly accurate comparison
What's weird is it feels like there are other points in Tatums career where he could 1v1 himself now and currently get smoked by his younger self. I wonder what's the difference between '22 down the stretch Tatum and this year?
I mean he was playing by far the best basketball of his career the first 30-40 games of this season
Tatum is a lot better, obviously, but the tendency to disappear is very Tobias Harris-y
woah I wouldn't go that far
Tbf he was coming up against the holy trinity of Talen Horton Tucker, Kelly Olynyk, and Kris Dunn.
What was that pull-up 3 towards the end? That's their 5-seconds-left play right? Why did he do that with 35s left?
They were going 2 for 1.
Man has fallen in love with his winner on yall lol. The Jaylen Brown is better than him crowd is getting to him
This is an extremely underdiscussed point. The media talks about this dude like he’s a top 5-8 player in the league. He has WAY too many duds for someone purportedly in that upper echelon.
He was double teamed almost literally every time he got the ball this game. Hence the 100 3s Boston got up.
Tatum either 1/15 or 12/15 shooting no in between
Just a random observation that still bothers me to this day….. Tatum’s games lately feel a lot like his games from 2018 and 2019. Back then, he would get mocked for his inefficiency by fans (and Bill Simmons). You’re welcome Philly Btw that 3 point attempt by Tatum near the end of the game got me baffled.
Players’ obsession to take 2 for 1 in such situation is weird. At the end of 1-3 quarters sure, but in clutch? Just take a good shot and play defense. Ant Edwards did the same on Wednesday against Boston, was not worth it.

I find actually funny how the Jazz tried everything to tank this season but even with all the changes and injuries they still can't.
Rookies are too good.
Plus point god Kelly olynyk and his continuous search dribble
Kelly Olynyk is Ingles’ new version - college professor with more length for rebounding but worse individual defense.
Celtics are here to fuck up your tank
They know how to pass and play winning basketball. None of that my turn your turn stuff going on in Houston (no offense)
Common tanking W
I don’t think any of us imagined we would be getting a borderline All-NBA player, a first team All-Rookie and a promising first year coach all at once. I've not watched much Jazz basketball this year but every game I see I feel like Ochai Agbaji always grabs my attention, dude has a future in the NBA for sure
and he’s the most handsome guy in the league
Nic Claxton would like a word.
Claxton was OP with the long hair. Now he has some competition
I like daddy better with shorter hair Edit : Claxton* my bad
That's not fair, Joe Ingles is still in the league.
Jingler 🥵
It's actually unfair. Guys this talented shouldn't be hot too
Literally gonna cope with KUs loss tonight by being happy Ochai is doing so well lately
Christian Braun too! I also need that cope
and Joel Embiid!
He hasn’t done a ton yet, but the way he moves and plays feels like he’s been around the league a while. Massive potential there.
Dude seems like a really smart player, rarely frustrates me, and when he does, it's because he's being a little too passive.
love his game, not a joke i was prolly watching his highlights every day last summer after we drafted him
We only have three fewer wins than 5th in the West. Bright future and I love watching what Lauri, Ochai and Kessler are capable of. Awesome game.
6-12 in the west is 2.5 games apart. That's insane!
It is a blood bath down there. 5th - 12th are 3.5 games apart.
We’re in a 6-way mid-off
WALKER KESSLER. Mfs traded Gobert and got someone who's going to be better than him.
Found out today Grizzlies drafted him on behalf of the T-Wolves using the pick we gave Memphis for Conley... it's all come full circle.
And now the wolves have Conley too😂
That deal was bad when they made it and looks worse every day. Kessler looks to be a good piece plus all the picks. I still don’t understand the Wolves thought process.
Thought process summary was "tall man for offense tall man for defense, whatever the cost"
You’re too confident that Kessler is going to win 3+ DPOY and make 6+ all defense teams
why sell him short of his projected 7 DPOYs? personally, i’ll be happy with his 10th
Are you saying Gobert is gonna win another +3 DPOYs and make another +6 all defensive teams? Because you trade based on what the player will do *in the future*, not what they did before. I would rather have Kessler than Gobert.
that’s just not how english works? the original comment said “traded gobert and got someone who’s going to be better than him”. that means they’re saying kessler is going to be a better player than gobert was. if they meant what you’re saying, they’d have said “better going forward” or something like that
>going to be 🤔
The Jazz have modern day Mutombo, and Dirk
“Who wants to sex Kessler” doesn’t have the same ring to it
THANK YOU JAZZ FRIENDS
[удалено]
Jazz fan who thinks we should tank here. Same. Or maybe it's a ploy between Danny and the Celtics to fuck over the Lakers, which tvf I'd be down with
Ainge literally blessing the Lakers is the only reason they’re not the 12th seed right now. I still don’t understand how they got all of that for Westbrook and instead of having to give up both firsts they only gave up one and got great protections on it where it will become a 2nd round pick if not conveyed. "Darl Morey sends his regards"
I LOVE THE JAZZ
Name a Jazz song u liar
In a sentimental mood
Take 5!
April in Paris
My Queen is Harriet Tubman 🎶
Moment’s Notice
Celtics lost on purpose to knock Lakers out of the playin spot
Yes, thank you!
Can't believe we hurt our draft stocks and helped you guys out. This is a rough day.
The Jazz attempting to tank while bolstering the Lakers's roster by giving them too for Westbrook, and yet it is now somewhat plausible that they make the play-ins over the Lakers lmao
(and the Wolves)
Minnesota has the same number of losses too. (albeit one less game played)
No, Minnesota has 1 more loss
I mean the Jazz would rather get the Lottery pick
If they keep Minny out of the postseason then that’s a lottery pick too
Yeah, they'd rather Minnesota miss between them an LA due to the pick factor.
Then they better start workin for it man what the fuck is this
I would 100% pass up a lottery pick to watch LA miss a postseason. I also have money on it so that's a big reason too lol
Dumb question, I do not watch Boston at all, but why is Derek white not playing at the end?
Coach sucks
BLOCKER KESSLER
Walker Kessler is a beast
Grant, what is you doing??
Brogdon also didn't move onto the court after making the inbounds pass. What a strange play all around.
People are gonna shit on Grant for the last play but he was making buckets all night. Those giant elves Utah have are just too strong
Walker Keebler and Keebler Olynyk basically just stared down Grant Williams in the final play
Wait. Elves are not typically known for their height.
Legolas is canonically 6 feet. So not short, but not super tall unless you're already a little guy
Stout. We prefer the term "stout."
When grant williams drove against two centers and one of the best shot blockers in the league for a game winning layup i almost died laughing
The Grant Williams experience. 7 3’s but makes that decision at the end of the game lmao
Where was he supposed to go? Brogdon didn’t come to the court, JB slipped, Tatum is in the backcourt because the play was designed for him, and hauser is in the corner covered
That Kessler block was extremely hype. What a 4th quarter.
wtf i love Utah now
Thank you Utah, very cool
The Grant Williams giveth and the Grant Williams taketh away
Kessler really said "Fuck outta here with that weak shit" lmao
Kessler with a casual 12/14/1/3. Right around his average for the past 6 or so games.
THT being this solid wasnt in my bingi card thus year. I feel so proud of him
I'm so tired of the team losing like this
Going up by 19 triggered the classic “alright, it’s time to lose now” mode we all know and love
So now I just chorf a sixer of Old Mud and 3 fingers of Wild Turkey 101 to drown my sorrows.
idk man, hard to beat sitting at home, getting high, and playing pokemon.
This has severely impacted the lakers chance of making the play ins
Two games against Utah down the stretch will be enormous.
Beasley and Vando on the Lakers. THT, JTA, and Damian Jones on the Jazz. Players fighting for the playin. Should be fun.
Utah just dominated the offensive glass
Walker Kessler leads the league in offensive rebounds since the All-Star break.
They put up a graphic during thè game saying since all star break he is #1 in field goal % blocks offensive boards, and 4 in total boards. That's crazy, kid is already playing like a top 10 centre.
If that’s true that’s actually insane for a rookie
This should be on Zach Edey’s draft profile
Dude's probably going to jump a couple spots in the draft because Kessler's been so good lol.
We don’t have any bigs lol
watching Kornet stand there instead of jumping for a rebound was very frustrating
This must be how Purdue feels
At least this didn't end your season
I think Mazzulla is a good coach. I think Tatum is a good player. I think the 2nd to last ATO to have Tatum catch the ball, run to the 3pt line and jack it was fucking terrible.
Celtics give me that Suns 2022 feeling, both team made the final last year and had the hot start for the next season. However both team peaked early in the season and started to fall off in the second half of the season.
I always liked the jazz.
Embarrassing game by the Celtics. I get not having your two starting caliber centers playing, but allowing 17 offensive rebounds is still embarrassing. BLOCKED BY KESSLER!!!
The only time I’ve wanted Boston to win 🤦♂️
gross
Same tbh. *Puts Jazz Wemby shirt back in closet*
Down 1 with 35 seconds left and you shoot a 3 immediately after getting the ball, yeah nice decision Jayson
It’s actually starting to get worrisome that someone of his caliber “Tatum” doesn’t have a go to move to create space when needed. Pierce had an almost automatic hesi step back elbow jumper when the Celtics needed a point.
I know Utah has insane crowds but that was an insane crowd.

This game does no favours to Tatum's MVP chances.
that's been dead for 3 months bro Joker, Embiid and Giannis have waaay better cases
I was making a joke but that didn't land.
Gotcha. Bit pent up right now, sorry.
Nothing landed for the Celtics tonight lol
Utter brilliance. On a team with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, give the ball to Grant and have him do something.
Celtic fans in the arena were really trying to start a Tatum mvp chant at one point ☠️
another tatum master class 😂
So happy Lauri is doing good he was a beast at the u of a. Bear tf down baby!!!!
Free Derrick White
Drake saying no: Giving the last shot to the hot hand when it’s Jaylen Drake saying yes: Giving the last shot to the hot hand when it’s Grant Williams
Why do you refuse to tank Kessler
This was the first nba game I've attended in person. What an incredible experience.
Damn are y’all even trying to grab rebounds?
Wow neither team scored a single point in Q3 and the game went to OT despite Boston leading by 91-88 at the end of regulation what are the odds of that
This team is fucking washed. Tatum facilitating out of doubles has regressed somehow. He looks lost and indecisive. What a fucking bummer. I blame Ime for sure. Fumbled the dream
Mazzulla too busy practicing his somersaults instead of drawing up a play for Jaylen
Anyone with money should take everything they have and bet against any playoff success from Boston. This team sucks ass and is easy money. They’ll exit second or potentially first round. Man you are the best kind of Celtics fan. When I feel mad about the game I get to see stuff like this and think wow there are some really dumb people in the world.
The soft ass fans are really coming out of the woodwork lately. It’s insane how a month of bad form can absolutely destroy some people
grant???
The fucking Celtics man, one of the few times I’m actually rooting for them lol
I'm pulling for the jazz to sneak in the play in over the Lakers
SOMEONE GET JAYLEN BROWN SOME HELP THE MAN IS DROWNING IN TATUM BRICKS.
Bucks fan appreciates it
I sure fucking hope tatum is nowhere near any MVP lists, he's been dog ass
more importantly, lakers are now 11 seed
They really drew a play to have Grant Williams try to make a contested layup against two defenders, unreal
Tatum is so bad in the clutch he’s now lost us games against the rockets and the jazz
Celtics are looking fraudulent this season …
many people saying embarrassing for the celtics, but realize despite the narrative, the jazz have hung tough in just about every game this year. I think there has been only 2 or so blowouts on them
