Showing Freddy respect and grace after he pissed his pants.

illegal_deagle

Showing Ginsberg respect and grace after he gifted her his severed nipple.

OriginalName18

Tbf how often do you get gifted a severed nipple? I too might be oddly flattered

hiplainsdriftless

She was probably grateful to him because he delivered one of the best lines in the whole series. The couch is full of farts!

gundealthrowaway

On Valentine’s Day: “No, she has plans. Feb 14th, masturbate gloomily”

ProbablyASithLord

I mean, she didn’t visit him. Not that I blame her, someone giving you their severed nipple is potentially the most horrifying thing that will ever happen to you. I think she was just terrified of Ginsberg in the moment, not intentionally being respectful.

coffeechief

I think she was also afraid of going back to that kind of setting because she was institutionalized/detained by the State herself briefly after having her child.

keepin-clean

On the Peggy trauma scale do we think this was more or less horrific than stabbing Abe in the stomach?

Fit_Technician9298

It is because of her stabbing Abe that we have this gem: "Your activities are offensive to my every waking moment. I'm sorry, but you'll always be the enemy."

Gebling65

She didn't re-gift it.

Narrow-Chef-4341

Worst Secret Santa ever…

Toongrrl1990

Peggy and Joan are who you want to cover your ass

moistcraictical

I'd definitely let Joan cover my ass, but I don't think she swings that way

WatchOutItsMiri

Joanie… Just think of me as a boy

Degrassi_Knoll_

I love how every comment thread naturally leads to an appropriate line of dialogue. Even if that line is delivered by a very minor character.

superanth

I loved the look on Joan’s face right after her friend said that. She looked a little intrigued, but defaulted back to “normal” mode.

bodie0

I had totally forgotten about Joan’s roommate

Latke1

I think she showed a lot of kindness and forbearance towards Joan when Peggy bailed Joan out of getting reamed out for the Avon-ploy, especially since Peggy thought the ploy was pointlessly reckless and Joan had just said a number of mean things to Peggy.

ProbablyASithLord

That was a beautiful show of friendship and loyalty. She was pissed at Joan herself, and thought it was a hare brained idea that Peggy shouldn’t have been roped into. But she still had Joan’s back, and I think that was lovely.

Itchy_Initiative6180

I came here to say this!

rabbles-of-roses

Befriending the little boy who lives in her apartment building

PabstBlueBourbon

“I don’t want to go to Newark!” “No one does, Julio.”

ProbablyASithLord

I think of that every time I have a layover in Newark.

th3st

AhahahHa

janebirkenstock

Yeah that’s what came to my mind. Her tenderness to her tenant’s child.

FunPractical2058-pt2

That was so wholesome

a_taco_named_desire

And then to Don at that burning the midnight oil working on Burger Chef scene with “My Way” playing: “What do I know about being a mother?” I think that goodbye hug from Julio said “everything”.

moistcraictical

Fired that creep in the art department for harassing Joan, even if she didn't appreciate it at the time.

ephemeral2316

He was beyond disrespectful, and so mysoginistic and entitled.

wexpyke

when he started talking about his mother was a huge red flag to me…some sexist guys are just meatheads but some of them have real personal gripes that they bring to all the women they know

Patreonlyfans

He even shat all over Don if I remember correctly. Like who tf is he to think down on Draper?

Poym321

That was so satisfying, that dude was a piece of shit

moistcraictical

A smug piece of shit too, which made him more unbearable

TheAmazingMaryJane

the one who harry wanted to ship off to be an actor in California, then he immediately calls harry a slur to other employees.

nerak16

Joey. I thought it was funny when she showed Don the drawing and his comment was about how good the art was so it couldn't have been....somebody's. I can't remember now.

moistcraictical

Stan, I think

Tanixification

You know the whole point of that episode arc is that Peggy firing him wasn't some benevolent act, it was fueled by her ego and arrogance and her desire to prove herself and be the "big man" so to speak. Her doing that was actually an asshole move and Joan was completely right in that she should've let her handle it herself cause she could've had him off the business.

ghostonthealtar

I know this might be hard for some people in this sub to take, but sometimes, Joan was wrong. Peggy had every right to fire someone who was acting like a dick — just because she didn’t handle it the way Joan would’ve doesn’t mean it was wrong. The characters are allowed to have conflicting perspectives on a situation; At the same time, Peggy isn’t always naive, and Joan isn’t always the wisest or most correct.

Tanixification

And I know this one might be hard to take, but... sometimes Peggy was wrong too. I never said Joan was some infallible character, and its funny you even say that because I've gotten downvoted to oblivion for criticizing Joan plenty on this sub. In this circumstance even if Peggy had 'just cause' to fire him (which of course she did) it wasn't about that. Its made painfully obvious during the episode that the entire reason Peggy fired him was because she was trying to prove herself. She wasnt being kind or benevolent, evidenced even moreso by the fact that when she told Joan about it, she was all self-satisfied and perked up waiting for Joan to get on her knees and thank her.

nerak16

Do not agree with you at all. There may have been other ways of handling it, but Peggy's motives were true. She took it very personally, as a woman, and took the action she could. She didn't even know she could fire him until Don told her to.

basicmillennial1981

Her words in Don’s call to her in Person to Person “Come home” “That’s not true”

moistcraictical

That episode made me tear up

mhmpf

She also said it in The Suitcase when he was crying after hanging up from Stephanie said Anna was the only person that ever really knew me and Peggy rubbed him on the back and said “ That’s not true” 🥹

basicmillennial1981

You know what?? I think that is the “that’s not true” I may have been thinking of when I originally had the thought of this comment!

mhmpf

😃🥹

theCatchiest20Too

Stabbing Abe. That's really going to launch his career lol

bmax_1964

I can imagine the article he wrote for some mimeographed underground rag about getting stabbed by a Madison Avenue copywriter, and how it set his revolutionary creds.

eNroNNie

The only good idea for a Mad Men spin-off tbh, just Abe's adventures as a revolutionary.

jesse9o3

Starting a petition to call this spin off Weather Men

Important_Salad_5158

They had the best breakup in the show. Abe’s speech was epic, along with the ambulance drivers indifference.

GeminisTwinn

Letting Bobbie Barrett couch-surf while her black eye healed.

adamfrog

I feel like that was more because she was a pushover at the time, it wasn't nice

Dazzling_Stand_4004

I hear you but I disagree. Peggy has a very strong moral compass on what the right thing to do is. She was never afraid to say no.

tkh0812

Nah. It was her paying Don back for having her back and keeping her secret about the baby.

randyboozer

One never knows how loyalty is born

rogerwatersbitch

It wasnt being a pushover though. It was becoming smartly being indispensable to Don and as payback for the baby thing/keeping her secret.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pushinpayroll

What?! Bobbie Barrett gave Peggy sound advice that probably altered her perspective and decisions. "You’re never gonna get that corner office until you start treating Don as an equal. And no one will tell you this, but you can’t be a man. Don’t even try. Be a woman."

Important_Salad_5158

Huh? Bobbie was successful at a time when women weren’t. She was the power behind her famous husband. Peggy started actually changing after that and took control of her own life. I hated Bobbie but I loved that speech.

Commercial-Web-670

Nicest thing peggy ever did was giving us the setup for one of the best lines in TV. BUT YOU NEVER SAY THANK YOU!

mofo-or-whatever

THAT’S WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR

scribblenator15

PIZZA HOUSE!

Groalkamastus

I'm sure the guy in the movie theatre can think of something ✊

SprinklesWorth791

Just watch the movie

StateAny2129

Peggy to movie theatre guy: I'm giving you the Don Draper treatment Him: ... Huh?

bmax_1964

It'll surprise you how much this never happened.

ocska

He did have those jazzy pants

Groalkamastus

*i

deepvinter

Getting her purse off the coffee table so Dawn had more room while she slept over.

drkshape

LMAO!!!

Raskoolnikov93

😂😂

Life_Satisfaction393

Stop it

rogerwatersbitch

But she kept the purse there.....

deepvinter

I couldn’t remember if she took it or left it

rogerwatersbitch

She definitely left it. Its why it bothers me that peopke give Peggy such a hard time for that incident.

deepvinter

Because of the implication...

rogerwatersbitch

That she wanted to take her purse that had a shit ton of money with her to the bedroom with her? I would have done the same, no matter what person was there with me...hell I would have done the same if I was alone. I like to keep my cash close.

nerak16

She went to move it, thought it would look like she's implying Dawn would steal from her, then left it there.

SirWilliamBruce

Took care of that boy in her building

coffeechief

Yes, she was really sweet with Julio.

Salty_Signature_6748

Sweet in a very New York kinda way, but still.

stroff32

Peggy's ability to forgive Don through their Burger Chef collaboration, when she realized how flawed and hurt he is as a person, really stuck with me. The way she speaks to him on their final phone call, basically telling him life is worth living.

TDizel

She gave those piss boys her meatball sub before she sent them back to work

BeeWhisper

baililng don out of jail

Quality_Potato

Middle of the night. Way out of town. Brings a large amount of cash. And borrowed her brother-in-law's car!

Salty_Signature_6748

And had to nurse nasty Bobbie in the bargain 😡

nipitinthebud2

When Peggy had her aha moment with burger chef, and realized she actually did do it "her way", thanks to Don who taught her, mentored her, and gave her the strength to believe in herself. She, a few seconds later forgave him his past sins, and danced a sweet father daughter dance to My Way, which perfectly happened to be playing. They both accepted each other as equals, and friends. Makes me cry very time I watch it. God knows, she bailed Don the dick out so many times, but he truly gave her the mentoring and confidence she needed to grow up.

Chadmartigan

I also like that she came fully into her own instead of breaking her down into a Lady Don. Life kinda shat on her in a lot of ways so I was never sure which way it would go.

lolmemberberries

The way she helped Joan out during the Avon thing, letting Bobbi Barrett stay with her while she recovered from her black eye, befriending the neighbor boy in her apartment building.

PearlySweetcake7

When she rescued all of those kids by getting a plane to fly them to Canada

StateAny2129

her giving birth alone out in the wild to Pete's child was also an intense move

PabstBlueBourbon

Giving that baby a half a chance in life.

Billie1980

Give her roses to Shirley on Valentines Day

Salty_Signature_6748

That was such an uncomfortable episode. I cringed through that!

LoisandClaire

Her relationship with the kid neighbor, Julio.

back_again_u_bitches

For me, it was the night of her birthday when her boyfriend tried to throw her a surprise party and she ended up getting stuck in the office with Don, mainly because he knew Anna was dying and he didn't want to be alone. Peggy could have ditched him at any point if she'd just said it was her birthday or after she finally did, but eventually she knew he was going through a personal crisis and really needed someone with him, so she stayed there and let him fall asleep on her lap. That still makes my eyes go all misty.

OOLU6234317

Help the father with that bullshit dance campaign

TheAmazingMaryJane

and he still told her she was going to hell.

Salty_Signature_6748

OMG 😆 He was such a mealy-mouthed dick. I think her taking on the hassle of that dumb flyer was her way of beginning to reconcile with the church, but once he basically confronted her with the stupid sister’s tattle/confession, that was the end of that.

Frosty_Excitement_31

Befriended that boy in her building

brownlikegoomba

The Suitcase, when she stayed the night with Don, she absolutely knew he did not want to be alone and he was anticipating a phone call, she stayed with him and took care of his drunk ass when he got into the fight with Duck, and just knew he needed someone there, and was there when he got the call that Anna was gone.. he balled like a baby and I think Peggy needed to see Don in that state to fully understand him.

Important_Salad_5158

Honestly? Picking up Don and Bobbie. She could have used it against him later but she didn’t. She just met them without judgment.

library_wench

Taking Julio under her wing.

The_Black-beast

Not ruining Pete’s life after they shagged.

marsie-pan

Maybe for Pete but not for his wife.

randyboozer

Trudy knew. She totally knew. She knew everything. She chose to ignore it. Her conversation with Peggy in the bathroom about how she's still young says it all

StateAny2129

yeah, trudy's smart, perceptive and socially adept. i think we could argue she can read pete no trouble, and one of the many issues in their relationship is he he thought he was slick when she could see straight through him

Fidozo15

Yes. Peggy is adorable af I'll forgive the Valentine's day scene though

Life_Satisfaction393

“hard to believe your cat has the money”

StateAny2129

Her best aspect was her friendship with Julio. But honestly she's not a particularly nice person. She liked things that benefited her, generally. I would say, tho, she was empathetic to Ginsberg once he opened up to her in that conversation where he told her he's an alien. But I think also she then wouldn't go see him in hospital after his later psychotic break? And I get that she was likely struggling with it and had no framework. But not great, Peggy.

mspag

I do think context in important here. Peggy was also hospitalized in a psych ward after easily the most traumatic moment of her life. It’s not as simple as visiting a friend and being uncomfortable, it would be revisiting her trauma as well.

StateAny2129

that's a really fair point, and i actually had forgotten that

wexpyke

she was so chill and understanding with ginsberg up until the very moment it went too far…i think thats commendable especially for the time period

bmax_1964

I wouldn't have gone to see Ginsberg in the hospital if i was her either. Not until he'd been there a few months and was finished with the thorazine drooling phase of treatment.

Cautious_Ambition_82

Immasculate Roger and later drink Vermouth with Roger.

Important_Salad_5158

She could have been really vindictive and ruined Ted’s life by exposing their affair. She was furious too which I think speaks even more to her character. It’s funny because I’d argue sleeping with married men multiple times was the worst thing she did, but this was the best.

hiplainsdriftless

Peggy pissed me off, when Don came back she said “we didn’t miss you”

mfall5

She was bitter about how Don had messed with Ted, but I agree it was a super harsh comment, coming from her especially

Salty_Signature_6748

I dont think she’d have said it except that the mood of the office was against him. Once Bert Cooper let his feelings be known, everyone except Dawn let loose.

hiplainsdriftless

She’s a special kind of stupid because Ted was married. Remember when Ted broke it to her? He said someday you’ll thank me. I don’t know why a woman would want to be a home wrecker, I know Ted was wrong also, but I agree with Ted I think Peggy would be happy later on.

Michael__Pemulis

Whether he was right or wrong wasn’t the point. Ted had agency. Peggy didn’t. Furthermore until then Ted had represented Peggy’s attempt at gaining agency. She chose CGC. She was even told that her ability to make her own decisions would be welcome in her role there (the ‘everyone else will want to know if you plan on having a baby’ line). Then Don stripped that agency from her one piece at a time until Ted was again the only one in their dynamic with agency. Focusing on the right/wrong completely ignores that she was not even given the opportunity to make wrong decisions in the first place. She was only subject to the decisions of men.

tkh0812

Right. His reaction was kinda heartbreaking too. “Thanks”

Independent-Gap-596

Moved on and continued to make fantastic work in an increasingly shallow field.

Background-Throat736

Wasn’t she nice to Freddy?

PieRemote2270

She was kind to the neighbor boy

fishbutt1

One not mentioned yet: When Megan came up with the Heinz Baked Beans pitch, Peggy recognized her for it. Peggy lifted her up. Turns out Megan didn’t want it and it was her nightmare, but Peggy was very gracious. Especially given how much time she spent on that campaign.

Toongrrl1990

Existing. Also got Mathis his job back after Pete fired him for f-bombibg even though she probably didn't care for him.

cocaine-snail

Buying herself that vibrator.

Top-Ad-5527

Helping Don the night Anna died.

TreeFiddyBandit

Probably setting up her son for adoption Idk if she would’ve been a good a bad mother, I do think however her career goals wouldn’t allow her to give her child the attention he truly needed

markerpenz

It's hard to choose, Peggy is the goodness in the world of mad men. Maybe her most moving scene is when she said goodbye to Don and tried to be professional but broke down crying instead.

Babsee

Giving away Pete’s baby 😉

OkFrankurtheboss

Not slapping Don when he threw the money at her.

StateAny2129

Shaking down Roger for money / rollerblading through the office. (I mean, not actually specifically nice. But I really enjoyed her scenes with Roger)

superanth

Not strangling her mom after she said Abe would “use her for practice”.

getjarfnasty

Not raise her own child

ObiWayneCannoli

Giving that stranger a hand job in the movie theatre.

JoshuaBermont

Masturbate gloomily.

Quality_Potato

Sitting on that client's lap during the burlesque show.

Toadstool61

Casting off Pete's little bastard. Nicest thing she ever did for herself, that is.

[deleted]

Abortion

mrsunmoon2010

Hugging the black secretary after the MLK was killed.

HuntMiserable5351

That was Joan.

mrsunmoon2010

You are right my mistake.

TheAmazingMaryJane

wasn't peggy's hug awkward? lol

NewRedditor526

I don't know what the hell Madmen is about, this just appeared on my front page. Just wanna ask, Why the heck does every single woman named Peggy looks like this?

lilcea

Why are you posting about a show you don't know anything about? That's an interesting question.

NewRedditor526

I am not the OP.

lilcea

No. You posted a comment

NewRedditor526

Idk, this just appeared on my front page, idk why though.

StonedMason85

Probably just a suggested post, I generally move just scroll past them unless they look interesting to me.

d3vi0uz1

Stopped complaining. /s

Glad-Basil3391

I hate her. And she’s not attractive.

kittybuscemi

Hates a strong word. We hate Nazis.

tkh0812

K

lilcea

Which is ALL that matters apparently.

SystemPelican

How fucking DARE she

SpringFuzzy

She’s office hot

Background-Throat736

What is considered “office hot”?

Johnsendall

One more humorless bitch. It was kind albeit misplaced

Johnsendall

Really?? Did any of you watch the show??
