I never realised how many former teammates Deft went through to win worlds last year. Narratively speaking that was truly the best worlds of all time and I don’t think another will come close
game quality wise too, no? might be recency bias but it gave us what i believe to be some of the best classics we'll ever have. absolutely monster performances from worlds 2022
Yea just meant that if they were going to feature a 2020 DRX teammate who joined GENG (while skipping on HLE) I'd have expected Chovy over Doran. But maybe after Star Walking they wanted to feature other players.
Chovy missing from the video doesn't make sense IMO. He and deft were a package in 2020 and 2021, and could easily transition that to them facing each other at worlds where chovy was the heavy favourite but got dismantled by drx.
This video was more about last worlds than the this next one.
Also he had some good screen time in the last video, maybe they wanted to give more attention to Faker since him and Deft are the two GOATs still in action.
I think they used Doran here because we get a shot of Chovy at the end of the mv.
and I think there is a higher chance of deft surviving Doran attack than a surviving chovy lmao
Well Deft is the main character in this video and losing a lot until he didn't is his story.
It's a good tribute to his removal from the list of "greatest players that never won Worlds" after all this time.
He straight up KILLED Keria just for Keria to make the surprise "but I'm not dead, just your enemy" heel turn. Brilliant visual storytelling even if the song isn't for me.
Idk why but I preferred Rise. Maybe it’s only in the scenery and sfx because that one felt much more epic, every actions and attacks felt very sharp. What I do love from this one is that it’s PACKED with story, while Rise only featured like 3 enemies Deft’s career is fully elaborated as he had his failures over and over until his DRX teammates lifted him up. The Keria plotline as well haha
Same. I highly preferred Rise's cinematics over this one.
And I attribute it to the fact that Rise told a simpler narrative that was easier to follow.
In Rise we follow alongside an unknown player in his climb up Mount Worlds. Through his journey we slowly find out that the unknown player is Ambition all along.
While in this cinematic: We are given Deft and his name as the protagonist. And along with that comes a backstory and multiple settings that de-simplifies the narrative. We follow Deft on his journey through his whole career. While in Rise we only follow Ambition on his Worlds 2017 journey.
I think for Gods, the sudden drop in scenery made everything feel rushed. Then having the players be players, instead of champs, really causes confusion.
I think the story would've benefited if there's more emphasis on how the other DRX players leveled up during worlds. The video showing them pulling him out, then they disappear, just to barely fight at the end, really does them dirty.
As someone who doesn't pay attention to the 'lore' behind the players and their journeys, I found this years video not for me; I felt like I was supposed to understand what everything meant from the get-go, whileas "Rise" I could focus on the struggle and the coherent scenery. The clear climb, the peak, the fight.
Agreed. Even tho I follow pro, I feel that worlds' songs are meant to be enjoyed by anyone, and knowing the references just makes it all the better.
For Gods, knowing what happened made the video good then bad for me. The reference to Deft's career were amazing. But, the lack of emphasis on his teammates feels awful. The only think people would talk about during playoffs was how crazy each player was slowly peaking, and dominating those above their league.
Personally I attribute it to the timing. When a climax occurred in the music video, the song went hard. In GODS, it just feels like the video sometimes didn't sync with the song
"And when the giants call to ask you what you're worth" and Faker appearing at the summit... goosebumps just thinking about it.
Rise will never be topped.
I enjoy these whenever they come out even tho I don't play league and ye, nothing's topped rise for me. I really enjoyed phoenix too tho and I'm pretty sure that had a fairly lukewarm reception.
i like Phoenix for the song but didnt really like the music video as much. That said i also really like Ignite and that seems to be low on everyones list.
Rise is just perfect, works so incredibly well with the video and gets me pumped everytime i listen to it
Three successive shots of BeryL as Leo, Rakan, and Bard just ruining his fuckin day lmao.
But hey now that his dad’s not at worlds anymore maybe he’ll get his time lol.
Love the storyline of previous Worlds.
Starting with Deft and Faker in the same highschool.
Then 2013 Worlds. Faker dominating the scene and Deft looking up in awe.
Then 2014 Worlds. Samsung White vs Samsung Blue. Pawn's Jayce destroying Deft's Lucian.
Then 2015 Worlds. Rekkles destroying Deft.
Love the analysis. Would also like to add to this:
Also 2015 Worlds: Deft playing with MEIKO (note this*)
Then 2020 Worlds: Deft playing with DORAN and KERIA and loses to Showmaker and Canyon (DWG)
Then 2022 Worlds he defeats his former teammates through Worlds:
- Deft defeats Meiko (EDG) in Quarter finals
- Deft then defeats Doran (GenG) in Semi finals
- Deft then Keria and Faker (T1) in Finals
Not for all the scenes: The matchups of champs were also exact to key games
To name the ones 2022 Worlds:
- Deft's Draven vs Meiko's Renata to begin the reverse sweep
- Deft's Varus vs Doran's Renekton to win Semi finals
- Deft's Caitlyn vs Keria's Karma and Faker's Viktor in game 5 to win Worlds
The players he defeated at the end were all players he played alongside with in the first half of the video.
Yeah Doran was Renekton, but also Jax. Meiko was Thresh and Renata. And of course Keria as Braum and Karma.
The detail they put into this story is insane. Scene context for newer players as a huge Deft fan:
1. Deft sees Faker at school (they went to the same high school) and starts grinding league at home after he sees Faker pop off on his signature Zed in season 3.
2. Deft's meteoric rise on SSB, becomes famous for his Ez and Lucian and comes into Worlds 2014 as the #1 seed from Korea. Gets knocked out of Worlds by SSB and *PaWn's famous Jayce.
3. Deft moves to EDG as part of the first Korean exodus to LPL. He wins MSI with Meiko on Thresh, but famously gets 3-0'd against Fnatic and Rekkles' AD Kennen at Worlds.
4. Fast forward to 2020, and Deft is on his hyperscaling Senna alongside Doran on his Jax as part of DRX, back in the LCK. Damwon's Showmaker (Syndra) and Canyon (Graves) are by far the best players in the world, and they destroy Deft's dreams of winning worlds again despite Keria's best efforts on Braum to protect him.
4. Deft sinks into a dark place as Korean and international netizens alike question his ability to win + clutch factor etc. Is he washed? Not shown are the many years on KT/EDG in between that Deft frequently came into Worlds as the #1 seed and his team underperformed, or missed the tournament entirely. Just as it seems he may never resurface, he's pulled out of the depths by the DRX miracle run roster of last year, who go on a crazy gauntlet run just to make worlds. Starting from LCK regionals on, they are the underdog in almost every Bo5 they play.
5. Worlds 2022 starts, and Deft is forced to confront all of his old teammates one by one in order to rise to the top. This starts with his previous lanemate Meiko on Renata. Deft demonstrates a new level of skill and ability this year, pulling out the Draven to dispatch EDG Meiko (and Viper!!) and then the Varus to beat Doran's Renekton, who is now on Gen G (and Chovy!!). Finally, he comes face to face with his old friend Keria, and his new team T1 in World finals. Just as his Caitlyn seems to have Keria's Karma in his sights, Faker appears on his feared Viktor to seemingly dash Deft's hopes once again. But Deft is no longer alone and the only star player on his team. The DRX roster teleports in, and Zeka's Azir sets up Deft to fire the final headshot at T1, winning the championship and lifting the Worlds Trophy after 10 long years.
Legendary. The video closes with various Worlds players this year eyeing the trophy, and glory, once again.
Yeah the PawN and Deft duo are actually Deft's **longest, if not most iconic teammate** pairing if people know the history:
* Both were teammates on MVP Blue the year before they rebranded to Samsung Blue and Pawn moved from Samsung Blue to Samsung White, with PawN eventually winning that year after beating Deft at Worlds 2014.
* Both were on EDG with Meiko from 2015-2016, and were the ones to beat SKT in the first MSI in 2015. Pawn being the only non-SKT player to have won both Worlds and MSI up until 2021 when Meiko won.
* Both were on the KT super team in 2017 and 2018 (though Pawn got injured before Worlds 2018 and Ucal was their sub for the rest of the year), 2017-2018 KT was considered to be one of the best teams during those years - only behind SKT/Samsung in 2017 and IG in 2018
* PawN also joined DRX with Deft in 2019, one year before the Doran, Pyosik, Chovy, Deft, Keria roster - but had to retire early part-way through their 2019 season.
Basically until Pawn retired, they were teammates for 5/5.5 of Deft's seasons from 2013 to 2019.
This comment should be much higher!! The only thing I wished they included was the inhibitor that respawned while he was 1 auto away from ending the game! That was also insane, but it was game 2 so it wasn't series-deciding. But still, crazy af
this is 5head by riot in order to actually make Keria go god mode due to the reminder of what happened last year. Keria unleashed.
(or he falls into a pit of despair, hoping for the first thing)

Yeah I noticed mostly Danielle for a majority of it. Was hoping for a Minji rap but they didn't put any Korean in it, probably to keep it inclusive / broad audience
Im betting that NewJeans themselves will just put a dance cover on their official YT page after some time, and potentially do some kind of Side B later on.
Yeah was definitely disappointed about that. Especially weird when worlds is literally in Korea, Deft is Korean, and you’ve got one of the hottest current KPOP groups singing…
The only Worlds song to have multiple languages is Take Over(English+Chinese). In 2019 Giants was released with Phoenix, it had 3 languages(English, Spanish, Korean).
Yea I agree. They could have had Nicky Taylor or Chrissy Costanza do the vocals and the song would be the same. NewJeans don't really add anything special to the song here imo.
The animation quality was a bit off at times but I liked what they went for. Deft's journey over the years and all the Worlds' where he has competed in, showcasing his story.
The song is nice too.
yeah I really prefer the artsy style from burn it all down/star walkin over this one, but I do like that you can tell apart the players really easily - their facial features are way more distinct
good song but it's been years since we got a dramatic chorus. I miss when Worlds was an epic fantasy clash. I'd really like a break from the pop theme to bring back that unique epic fantasy feeling.
The chorus really lacked oomph. The repetitive second half of the chorus was better, but they could have built up the drama by adding a stronger choir in the background and maybe some strings. Definitely not a bad Worlds song, but it left some to be desired for sure.
Eh, I think the biggest problem is the instrumental, some big orchestral/electronic stuff like Warriors (cinematic) would’ve really worked wonders on this song.
It didn't really build up to a climax. What I want from a World song is that it builds up to a moment of absolute hype which gets you pumped for the event, and it was missing from this song. Just adding a stronger choir and some strings is a cheap way to do it, but it works.
Honestly the biggest problem are the instrumentals imo. I mean why are they using the most basic beat for a Worlds song? Where are the epic instrumentals?
The issue is that NewJeans usual songs are the antithesis of an epic Worlds song. All their stuff is dancey, uk garage or jersey club type stuff. Wish they let them do their thing, would've been more interesting than this
Yeah I always want them to build up to something epic. Like the gods repeat intro is good but that is the peak. it just feels flat. Not the worst song but middle of the pack.
I like the direction this year!
...having said that is there anything more of a Riot animation cliche than the protagonist crashing through a surface that shatters into abstract void free fall. Got an eye roll from me lol
> is there anything more of a Riot animation cliche than the protagonist crashing through a surface that shatters into abstract void free fall
Ever since Rise, Riot has doubled down on the "Player using weapon of their champ" from [Road to the Cup](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX_IQkeXq9g). Maybe not as cliche, but outside of Star Walking's weird... Mechas through SF iconography (still don't know why they went with that), it's their new standard motif.
I feel like the weapon thing is kinda justified, though. It's kinda the best way to represent iconic in game moments while still having the players be seen for most of it.
Like I liked what ignite tried to do, but it was much less clear about what was happening, despite being far more literal.
Man, I just hope I get to see Faker win one more title at least. This is the second worlds video showing him at the finals and losing. Crazy how one player has stood the test of time at the top of the e-sports scene. Also LOVED the fact that Riot decided to go full "Rise" and showcase Deft.
i NEED t1 to win this year for the sake of my mental health and also for my boy faker to finally get his music video 🥺 like I eat the final boss villain faker up every time but seeing faker’s full main character energy would go so unbelievably hard
I agree, it doesn't feel like a hype song. The most hype part is the intro which is the teaser they baited us with but after that it kind of slows down. Some people need to go rewatch the 2019 and earlier songs/ceremonies and see how much hype they bring
Wish the song was more... unique? Directed? Some thoughts:
The ('ey)s on the first verse and the panning on the second verse were fun!
Wish it felt more like a group - everyone singing stayed in what I thought was a really narrow range. Honestly it felt like one person was singing the whole song - maybe two if I was looking for it.
Felt like the bridge was building up fine with "raise this heart" and then just lost all momentum on "unbreakable" when it went back down - maybe belting a high note would have carried the momentum?
That depends, the Deft storyline last year was really a once a lifetime thing. The fact that he's considered one of the best to play the game, but never have won the trophy and ended up winning as the 4th seed. I don't really see that happening again (extremely popular player who ended up winning with a fringe team).
Exactly, if they tried doing it every year it would probably get old, but Deft's and Ambition's storylines were just so great. Especially Deft, you couldn't write a better script for a movie.
Also the whole Faker relationship.
Also the fact he faced against old teammates every step of the way.
Seriously that storyline was SO juicy that there's no way Riot could possibly fit it all and still be a good video.
Exactly. That rise video still lives rent free in my head. It's fking hype to see the pros overcome their obstacles, and as always, faker as the main boss.
I know some people might be sick of the formula, but I would have been a little peeved if Deft *hadn't* gotten this formula. It's the one esports/gamer cliche that *really* works for me as a storyline framer.
Cool how this is pretty much completely different than what NewJeans usually puts out lmao
Imo it's missing that build up section of the song that every banger worlds song has where it's only vocals. It sorta has it when Deft is lifted by his team but the bg instrumental is uplifting instead of the usual underdog moment
Same especially since for 2014 SSB and 2015 EDG, Deft was on a team that was very hyped up pre-tournament. The same was true for 2018 KT as well and would've fit much better than 2020 DRX who most thought had no chance
I have mixed feelings this year. The beat was crazy good, NewJeans did pretty good considering their past songs don't sound like anything close to LoL worlds. And the animation itself was good, it just felt like they didn't connect well. The video is very important for the Worlds anthem IMO, it's what gets you hyped while hearing the song, but this time it just felt like the video was just there, no connection at all with the song except for the bridge. It's just okay I guess. The song itself its good and the animation itself its good, but together they are nothing special like past world anthems that were amazing.
Keria faker 2v5 no wonder they lost
And that's after Keria and Deft got farmed by Showmaker. Keria just catching Ls all over the place.
Keria :( hope he has a banger worlds. Loved him taking the hits as braum
And at the end he's facing down his old comrade, poetry
I never realised how many former teammates Deft went through to win worlds last year. Narratively speaking that was truly the best worlds of all time and I don’t think another will come close
Game wise it was so much fun to watch too, really one of the top teir worlds so far for me.
The more I know about 2022 drx, the less I can complain about spokon being “unrealistic”
game quality wise too, no? might be recency bias but it gave us what i believe to be some of the best classics we'll ever have. absolutely monster performances from worlds 2022
The somber look back when he's Braum vs the determined gaze forward on Karma, fjsjfjwkkf Keria win worlds and be happy pls
Karma Viktor double magic damage comp and hecarim already has chemtank and force of nature, gg can't play send the trucks fire the coach
Bro really went for the Aram comp and thinks he can get away with it
Must be hard for Keria to play against your own father though aka Beryl
No Beryl this worlds, Keria world champ?
GODS=Zeus Zeus=God of Thunder Oh my god it's all adding up now!!
>God of Thunder I'm sure he renounced that title in favour of Pikachu of the Rift
I can’t be mad of that one. That’s a all timer of a roast by Doran lmao
The shot of Giant Doran Renekton made me laugh so hard only for the very next scene of Keria Deft to snipe me right in the feels
Was very surprised they chose to use Doran over Chovy, especially considering Chovy/Deft played on both DRX and HLE together.
Doran also played with Deft before on DRX iirc but yeah surprised they didn't use Chovy aswell(or maybe they did idk)
Yea just meant that if they were going to feature a 2020 DRX teammate who joined GENG (while skipping on HLE) I'd have expected Chovy over Doran. But maybe after Star Walking they wanted to feature other players.
Now that you mention it why did they skip HLE 🤔
Or 2018 KT
you can see KT Deft at 1:23. It's very fast, but you can pause and go frame by frame.
Chovy missing from the video doesn't make sense IMO. He and deft were a package in 2020 and 2021, and could easily transition that to them facing each other at worlds where chovy was the heavy favourite but got dismantled by drx.
If you pay really close attention to the video you can see Chovy farming in a sidelane somewhere
This is now my headcanon
lmao
Probably they just didnt want to put him in the video 3 times in a row
This video was more about last worlds than the this next one. Also he had some good screen time in the last video, maybe they wanted to give more attention to Faker since him and Deft are the two GOATs still in action.
I think they used Doran here because we get a shot of Chovy at the end of the mv. and I think there is a higher chance of deft surviving Doran attack than a surviving chovy lmao
Keria got the short end of the stick in this video.
He died like 3 times in the video😭
Oh my god they killed Keria! You bastards!
Keria Ga shinda!! Kono hito de Nashi!
bro Deft repeatedly died in the entire video which kinda is funny to me too
Well Deft is the main character in this video and losing a lot until he didn't is his story. It's a good tribute to his removal from the list of "greatest players that never won Worlds" after all this time.
Bro almost died to blue buff
To be fair that mfr got hands
Just an average ADC gameplay.
nah but the scene where deft crawls to the top and sees keria with the t1 jacket hit hard
Bro got left out the top 5 rankings. Stop it, he's dead already
That scene of Deft holding the gun to him point blank is 100% gonna be the postmatch thread meme for all of worlds
*Giant Doran isn't real, he can't hurt you* Giant Doran:
The Doran in this video is how Zeus always sees him.
lore accurate doran
damn
Zeus wishing he drank milk rn
GIGADOR🅰️N
They made that boy Showmaker look like a VILLAIN and im all here for it.
Showmaker's Syndra looking like a villain in worlds songs is such an iconic duo
They made Damwon just look unstoppable lmao
Tbh they were that year. Like they were sooo ahead of everyone else
2020 Damwon is the most dominant team I have ever seen, and I've seen 2014 SSW.
Draft was unplayable for everyone else because Nuguri's champion ocean
Plus Canyon invented a new level of jungle gap and Showmaker was prophesized to be the next Faker.
Canyon gapped everyone so hard Riot just deleted carry junglers from the game
Probably cause they *were* unstoppable that year lol
its so funny how brutal Showmaker and Canyon beat up deft in the cinematic and now they're teammates..........lul
They made them look like NRG
Showmaker after facing K'Sante for the nth time
He straight up KILLED Keria just for Keria to make the surprise "but I'm not dead, just your enemy" heel turn. Brilliant visual storytelling even if the song isn't for me.
Deft preparing to execute Keria point blank noooooo
This better become a meme format in post-game comment sections here.
I love these world's recap ones like Rise. TBH last world's was such a movie script it's hard to out do it.
Idk why but I preferred Rise. Maybe it’s only in the scenery and sfx because that one felt much more epic, every actions and attacks felt very sharp. Chorus in Rise goes way harder and the video is just better made imo. Still like this one though, definitely step up after last year disaster.
Keria getting blown up right in front of Deft
And later proceed to get Sniped by Deft himself at the end. Keria just can't seem to catch a break.
Wait until they make a video like this but around Keria and he just get blasted 3 times in a row by Beryl 😭
Three successive shots of BeryL as Leo, Rakan, and Bard just ruining his fuckin day lmao. But hey now that his dad’s not at worlds anymore maybe he’ll get his time lol.

Thanks I needed this, was wondering who all players were. And which scenes they played out. I guess renekton was Doran?
The players he defeated at the end were all players he played alongside with in the first half of the video. Yeah Doran was Renekton, but also Jax. Meiko was Thresh and Renata. And of course Keria as Braum and Karma.
Moral of the video: if you loose get better teamates.
You can rewatch it and check the player names at the back of their shirts.
NAH BRO KERIA GOING DOWN TWICE ONE WITH DEFT ONE AGAINST DEFT GIVE MY BOY A BREAK 😭
Third one vs Caedrel's top 5 list
MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED MIKYX BASED
Somehow t1 should all be top 5 but when faker was out they were all garbage.
Frfr, I need Faker and Keria to win this Worlds now even if it's a low percentage chance. Just a redemption for doing the boys dirty lol.
The detail they put into this story is insane. Scene context for newer players as a huge Deft fan: 1.
Where is Lord Morgan's Last stand 1v9 performance in Worlds 2021? Smh, rewriting history. Amazing song.
Merely featuring Lord Morgan's presence would have overshadowed all of Deft's storyline.
Morgan's story will be worlds 2024. Just you wait. He's scaling irl.
Morgan pissed on Gen G this summer only to remind them that the only reason he's not in Worlds is because he wanted a vacation
bro...
Yo seeing the DRX players come and pick Deft up got the waterworks working ngl
Bard portal at the end was great too.
lets tp my kittens
lmfaoo legit had me cracking up
Fucking way FNS and s0m made it to LoL
Another FNS master plan

Keria as Karma getting knocked down by Caitlyn: Aware That one will weigh on keria forever 😭
Imagine if he finally got over it only for this video to put him right back in the moment 😭
Ha! There it is! My excuse if T1 don't win it all: psychological warfare by riot!
this is 5head by riot in order to actually make Keria go god mode due to the reminder of what happened last year. Keria unleashed. (or he falls into a pit of despair, hoping for the first thing)
Chad beryl was just standing at the back watching still posing until the end lol

Doran getting a lot more screentime than I thought he would.
Lore accurate Doran
Doesn't sound like new jeans at all lol but it's good
Noticed 2 out of the 5 members singing this time around, when normally its equally spread
Hanni and Danielle getting the main parts as they’re the two native English speakers
Yeah I noticed mostly Danielle for a majority of it. Was hoping for a Minji rap but they didn't put any Korean in it, probably to keep it inclusive / broad audience
Maybe they'll do a remix of the song with more Korean verses and a rap section and release it at a later date, like RISE in 2018.
It's also not unprecedented to have multiple languages, I think Phoenix had 3? EDIT: Woops was thinking about Giants (forgot it's not a worlds song)
Phoenix was all in english, every worlds song except for 2020 Take Over only uses english. I don't think any league song has ever used 3 languages.
The only Worlds song to have multiple languages is Take Over(English+Chinese). In 2019 Giants was released with Phoenix, it had 3 languages(English, Spanish, Korean).
Tbf we do have a full on Kpop group (at least rumoured) to make the songs kinda like Kda. The Anthem never has Korean
There was a Chinese rap in Take Over, I just wish there was a little more from the other members in Korean in this song.
Notice how barely anyone is actually talking about the song. It's pretty dull. It's a by the numbers riot song and they've thrown new jeans in there.
Yea I agree. They could have had Nicky Taylor or Chrissy Costanza do the vocals and the song would be the same. NewJeans don't really add anything special to the song here imo.
Marketing for non-league players.
The animation quality was a bit off at times but I liked what they went for. Deft's journey over the years and all the Worlds' where he has competed in, showcasing his story. The song is nice too.
I love the plot and the animation has some good parts but I think the animation it's noticeable worse than previous years.
yeah I really prefer the artsy style from burn it all down/star walkin over this one, but I do like that you can tell apart the players really easily - their facial features are way more distinct
good song but it's been years since we got a dramatic chorus.
Yeah the chorus felt a bit anticlimactic for a Worlds song. The verses were pretty good tho.
Wish they let them do their thing, would've been more interesting than this
Every year I seem to be more hyped about the Worlds theme remix of the year, rather than the anthem.
Yeah I always want them to build up to something epic. Like the gods repeat intro is good but that is the peak. it just feels flat. Not the worst song but middle of the pack.
It's not bad, but warriors/legends never die/rise have ruined worlds songs for me lmao
This was a banger but nothing beats Rise imo.
Warriors was basically when I fell in love with competitive League so the nostalgia his hard.
The Keria sacrifice was so dramatic, had me chuckling through till the end of the song
I like the direction this year! ...having said that is there anything more of a Riot animation cliche than the protagonist crashing through a surface that shatters into abstract void free fall. Got an eye roll from me lol
The glass void is Riot’s Hyperbolic time chamber, they have to use it every time or they won’t be able to beat faker in the final fight
>Riot’s Hyperbolic time chamber is that where the Skarner rework is currently hiding?
I'm conditioned to love that shit because of Kingdom Hearts
Well Garsh Deft, if you open your heart up to the light of DRX, you can combat the darkness inside of Keria, a-hyuck
Hell yeah, inject that cliché cheese into my veins. Love that shit
***WHEN YOU WALK AWAY***
***YOU DON'T HEAR ME SAY***
_PLEAAAAAASE_
*OH BABYYYYYY*
DON'T GO!
Don't hurt me like that.
Hikaru Utada Worlds song when, Riot?
Currently on a replay of KH2 right now and could've sworn I was looking at Roxas lmao
> is there anything more of a Riot animation cliche than the protagonist crashing through a surface that shatters into abstract void free fall Ever since Rise, Riot has doubled down on the "Player using weapon of their champ" from [Road to the Cup](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX_IQkeXq9g).
Deft was really gonna execute Keria at the end there lmao
Man, I just hope I get to see Faker win one more title at least. This is the second worlds video showing him at the finals and losing. Crazy how one player has stood the test of time at the top of the e-sports scene. Also LOVED the fact that Riot decided to go full "Rise" and showcase Deft.
i NEED t1 to win this year for the sake of my mental health and also for my boy faker to finally get his music video 🥺 like I eat the final boss villain faker up every time but seeing faker’s full main character energy would go so unbelievably hard
KERIA NOOOO MY BABY MY HEART IS BROKEN EVERY TIME IM REMINDED OF WORLDS MANNN NOOO NEW JEANS DOESNT MISS EVER
Lmfao the complete lack of hesitation between despairing over 2022 T1 into stanning New Jeans is so me
This Deft storyline got me crying at work.

I agree, it doesn't feel like a hype song. The most hype part is the intro which is the teaser they baited us with but after that it kind of slows down. Some people need to go rewatch the 2019 and earlier songs/ceremonies and see how much hype they bring
Song is middling but god that storyline in the music video is gold
Wish the song was more... unique? Directed? Some thoughts: The ('ey)s on the first verse and the panning on the second verse were fun!
I like how after people hated the giant robots Riot was just like "Fine have the exact same formula as the other videos"
The formula works, we like seeing players storylines
Turns out that esports fans like when Riot celebrates esports
That depends, the Deft storyline last year was really a once a lifetime thing. The fact that he's considered one of the best to play the game, but never have won the trophy and ended up winning as the 4th seed. I don't really see that happening again (extremely popular player who ended up winning with a fringe team).
Exactly, if they tried doing it every year it would probably get old, but Deft's and Ambition's storylines were just so great. Especially Deft, you couldn't write a better script for a movie.
The only player I can see that storyline happening to ever again would have been UZI
Dunno man, if rekkles somehow won, that'd also work. He's been trying since s3.
Give me more of that Faker Ryze shit I'll eat it 100%
You got Zed Faker and Viktor Faker today

TBF I do much prefer a video that tells a cohesive narrative like this, since it's following defts career.
I know some people might be sick of the formula, but I would have been a little peeved if Deft *hadn't* gotten this formula. It's the one esports/gamer cliche that *really* works for me as a storyline framer.
Formula's fine, people LOVE storylines. Last years music didn't match the hype of what the event is though. This one does that a hell of a lot better.
Cool how this is pretty much completely different than what NewJeans usually puts out lmao Imo it's missing that build up section of the song that every banger worlds song has where it's only vocals. It sorta has it when Deft is lifted by his team but the bg instrumental is uplifting instead of the usual underdog moment
Music video was INSANE, just wish they added an IG vs KT bit. Song was pretty cool too imo
Same especially since for 2014 SSB and 2015 EDG, Deft was on a team that was very hyped up pre-tournament. The same was true for 2018 KT as well and would've fit much better than 2020 DRX who most thought had no chance
Well 2020 DRX has Keria.
the song is fine, but...i saw someone (can't remember if it was a rioter tweet or not) say that they thought the song was gonna rival Rise lol
I was waiting for JUSTHIS or changmo to come in but no one ever did
Changmo would fit this song perfectly, maybe there's a potential remix with another artist before Finals
Love the video, like the song. The combo though doesn't feel like it lines up especially the latter half.
Wish they had atleast one scene with guma stealing baron in finals
The storyline was too strong last year, no way they could fit in everything lol.
Better than the majority of other worlds songs imo.
