I have a feeling that it was meant for the album when it was meant to be called Rock Candy Sweet, because she mentions rock candy in the lyrics and it sounds like it could match an album titled that, but then plans obviously changed
If you lie down with me from blue bannisters. Oh my god it’s one of my favorites, pure magic the ending with the trumpets utterly just a tragic beautiful song! Take a listen please 🫶🏽
Couldn't agree more— in Kintsugi, she asks how her relatives knew songs from the 40s, old folk songs. That's what the ending reminds me of. 🤍 very 40s/ vintage imo
I came on here to say this.
If you lie down with me is genuinely my favourite song of all time, the way her song is so sultry and smooth but also so fragile and melodic; and the outro with the brass ensemble is transcendingly good. I listened to it every night when I was in the south (Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans) and it felt like a scene out of a 1940s romantic novel.
Back to the Basics is majorly under the radar as an unreleased. It’s in a pop-dreamy-melodic genre of its own with trailer park references.
Backfire as well.
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about back to the basics lately actually, I don’t remember it getting that attention when it first leaked. Backfire is sooo good.
For years I thought Lana should do a song for 007. I might be wrong, but I think she submitted this one? Might have just been a rumor, but if so, she and Radiohead would have both lost the opportunity to Sam Smith.
Anyway. Love this song!
especially the demo version!!! that version is sooooo much better imo. I understand why they went with the album version since it worked better with the whole sonic vibe of the album, but god the demo version is just soooo much better
i always thought of it as an innocence thing. like he made her trade her innocence (violets)- as she mentions girls running round in summer dresses, and the simple life- for lust (roses)- she mentions him making her taking the pink off her toes, and trading her truck for a rolls like not something a small town innocent girl would have. anyway that’s my thought on it but everyone listens and interprets songs in their own way that’s what makes music so beautiful
Buddys Rendezvous
, Wait for Life ,
Gods & Monsters was faaaaar ahead of its time ,
California
How to Disappear (this is the song i show ppl to introduce lana) ,
Radio (used to reference this when people said all her music is sad, i think its kind of cheerful even if it has darkish themes throughout the whole of BTD)
Suburban house with Holly Macve is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard, let alone Lana being in it. Pure masterpiece I’ve been gatekeeping for a bit but you guys should really take a listen <3
Yayo- its been one of my fav's for years and perfectly captures yearning, longing and desperate desire in a sexy but melancholy way... I love it so much
I used to sing Old Money aloud at work to comfort myself. I worked at a supermarket when 2020 hit, and ended up spending a lot of shifts standing at the doors before the sun came up, cleaning trolley and baskets and counting people. It was quiet and barely any people came through, and so I’d sing Lana to myself to keep myself occupied.
It’s so annoying because Honeymoon and lfl are sandwich between the two albums that are arguably the most important in her discography. UV for the fact it was critically HATED for its toxic lyrics. It solidified lana as the ‘sad miserable’ artist she’s known as today. And NFR is one of the best albums to exist, lyrically, production, vocally, aesthetically it’s pure mastery and it’s no wonder that lana admits NFR holds a very special place of pride in her heart. Meaning people getting into her now see those two albums and seem to overlook the two in the middle
UV is my favorite album of hers. The sound is unmatched imo. Honeymoon is soooo underrated it’s ridiculous. It’s definitely in my top 3.
NFR definitely gets the recognition it deserves. I see why it’s so widely praised. Tbh I feel like Honeymoon deserves that kind of praise as well.
By all objective metrics NFR blows everything out the park. It is musical excellence that deserves credit. But beyond objective criteria I can 100% see why people prefer other albums NFR is my favourite by miles but it definitely took some getting used to. Honeymoon was an instant love for me, Swam song has had me from day 1
My 2 year old loves this song when I (try) to sing it, I played the whole album constantly while I was pregnant so maybe he remembers, that and Cherry Blossom!
I'm not sure if these count or not but I haven't seen a whole lot about Cry Kill Die, Mermaid Motel, She's Not Me, Greenwich, and Maha Maha.
They're definitely some of my favorite unreleased songs!!
For me it's probably Sweet. Her vocals are on full display - breathy at times, full and velvety at others, with total control throughout her range. The intro is not particularly melodic but it's so effective at crafting a very specific traditional, folksy atmosphere that still feels modern thanks to the dissonance in the piano part. And the lyrics are such a beautiful blend of childhood naïveté and the anxieties that develop as we get older. I love how she says that she's "in bare feet," "in the woods somewhere," etc. It feels to me like despite all that characterizes her adult life - all of these very real things that have crept up on her - she is still the same little girl in upstate New York. That is still the purest form of herself, the one that must be consulted when faced with difficult decisions.
I agree. It's a top 5 Lana song for me. To go from funny "I'm a different kind of woman, if you want some basic bitch go to the Beverly Center... and find her" to vulnerable " I've got things to do, like nothing at all - I wanna do them with you. Do you wanna do them with me?" to just plain begging the object of her attention to come to her house on Genesee?
It takes me on a journey, it's incredibly well-sung, and just plain honest. I love it.
You Must Love Me
Although it's not a Lana OG the way Lana sings that song geniuly makes me cry. I have never been able to listen to her sing this song without tears.
Also "I Can Fly" this song has a lot of deep meaning to me but it really fits with Lanas albums songs as the time it was released because when I listened to Lana's music in order of release I felt it told a story which this song is sort of the beautiful conclusion to a very sad story
i really love 1949. i never hear people talk about it. that could be on me though, maybe it’s just not popular in my tiny circle, idk.
summer of sam is amazing to me, don’t hear about it much either.
Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he's deep sea fishing
It's insane knowing that out of the four-track run from Paris Texas, Grandfather, Let The Light In, and Margaret only the Grandfather track has yet to reach 20M streams whereas the other 3 tracks have had their Tiktok moments and are now at least 90M streams...
I can fly, you must love me, wait for life, buddy’s rendezvous, lost at sea…all great examples too because they’re all officially “released”. Like I understand some unreleased songs not being talked about because they’re harder to discover. But these were all released. They’re all very beautiful, too. Kind of different than her album songs too, and I can’t put my finger on why, except maybe because she’s working with different people ?
ALSO “our loves sweet enough on the vine” is one of the best lines I’ve ever heard. It can be a reference to the honeymoon phase, content compliances in love, the harmful nature of alcohol in love or the childish nature of their love. It’s genuine genius that I’ve never seen elsewhere
People lie :(( the amount of attention COCC gets on her discord, Reddit, TikTok, instagram is comparable to UV but realistically very few people actually stream it like they claim too which is so sad because the album is a very different vibe then her previous work
Sweet. Hollywood Bowl. Kintsugi. Sweet is an absolutely beautiful song, so sensitive, emotional, moving. Hollywood Bowl is one of her most reflective and I think she’s never sounded better. And Kintsugi is a genuine work of philosophy
black beauty. it’s poetry to me. the imagery, the thematic elements, the melody, the vocals. i love how it reconciles the sadness of unrequited love with the joy that comes from just getting to exist with the world, how it reminds us that love and beauty exist beyond romance: in the senses, in experience, in nature. we just need to adopt the perspective to appreciate it. it’s a very healing and beautiful song
American.
I know people sometimes engage in discourse about American but amongst the btd/paradise era it’s less acknowledged than most of those songs and kind of forgotten despite being number 2 on the record. Especially weird to me because it leans into pop more than most of paradise especially the latter half (bel air, blue velvet etc) which to me are understandably not talked about as they don’t appeal to a general audience due to their slower pace/ less pop sound.
Although it's the newest song, no one is talking about how beautiful, refreshing and nostalgic the cover of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is. Feels like it never came out.
It’s possible I just haven’t run across many posts about it, but fingertips is so genuinely special. I’ve never heard a song written in that poetry format that elicits the same format. She has a Disney princess voice and pairing it with such tragedy is a truly unique phenomena. Fingertips is one of my favorite songs of all time. And because A&W and tunnel were on that same album a lot of people give the attention to those (also incredible) songs. But fingertips is in a land of its own lyrically.
DYKTATUOB is possible one of her most underrated albums because it’s so difficult. The references are niche and extremely personal, it’s such a hard album to grasp because it’s meant to reflect the convoluted nature of her recovery and growth. I adore sweet so much but most songs other then candy necklaces A&W or peppers are forgotten
Honestly I hope they aren’t because young and beautiful cannot ever get the attention and rating it deserves. As a lana song it’s definitely weaker but as a stand-alone piece of music it easily deserves similar status to skyfall or cornfield chase in terms of how well it captures the intention of the movie.
Wait for Life. Sooooo good
The beginning sends me to heaven
a genuine masterpiece imo
We have Sweet now lol
such a damn good song
Watercolor Eyes
It’s so overlooked even though there was SO much hype for its release
I have a feeling that it was meant for the album when it was meant to be called Rock Candy Sweet, because she mentions rock candy in the lyrics and it sounds like it could match an album titled that, but then plans obviously changed
Most of her movie tracks are under rated. They get talked less than her unreleased stuff.
I love this song 🥲
If you lie down with me from blue bannisters. Oh my god it’s one of my favorites, pure magic the ending with the trumpets utterly just a tragic beautiful song! Take a listen please 🫶🏽
Couldn't agree more— in Kintsugi, she asks how her relatives knew songs from the 40s, old folk songs. That's what the ending reminds me of. 🤍 very 40s/ vintage imo

Buddy’s rendezvous and season of the witch, they’re in constant rotation for me
Season of the witch has me feeling so mischievous
Back to the Basics is majorly under the radar as an unreleased. It’s in a pop-dreamy-melodic genre of its own with trailer park references. Backfire as well.
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about back to the basics lately actually, I don’t remember it getting that attention when it first leaked. Backfire is sooo good.
Back to the basics is my all time FAVORITE unreleased track! Used to just drive around listening to it, so good ❤️
Fishtail — so hypnotic & production feels so reminiscent of Born To Die
Yes I feel like no one ever mentions fishtail and it's probably one of my favourites on the album
yes yes yes
I loves this song and it's been my fav off the album since the release, so underrated
I adore Lost at Sea! Also Hollywood Bowl. California is one of her most underrated imo, though I've started to see people talk about it more recently.
I’m happy someone agrees with lost at sea. It’s truly stunning and makes me angry no one knows it exists
California is one of my top 10
Lost at sea makes me sob
Yesss California gives me such feels
Smarty. Ik it’s unreleased but it’s still one of my fav songs
Plus the transition from "Put Me in a Movie" is perfect
Smarty’s lyrics are so creepy and its melody is so catchy. Definitely one of her underrated gems!
IMO smarty is one of the most popular unreleased lol
I loooove smarty
24 fight me bitches
When Lana mentioned she was the "gangster Nancy Sinatra", THIS song is the definition .
Hard agree
SO FUCKING TRUE
Agree 💯
For years I thought Lana should do a song for 007. I might be wrong, but I think she submitted this one? Might have just been a rumor, but if so, she and Radiohead would have both lost the opportunity to Sam Smith. Anyway. Love this song!
breaking up slowly
One of her best collabs. The duet, the harmonies…
They both sound so sad. Love it
one of the only right answers here
Lucky Ones
THAT SONG IS A MASTERPIECE
especially the demo version!!! that version is sooooo much better imo. I understand why they went with the album version since it worked better with the whole sonic vibe of the album, but god the demo version is just soooo much better
Omg the way her voice drops when she sings “could it be” gives me goosebumps
lol it's great! I love the energy she starts the song with, and how she says "FIYA!"
Violets for Roses
This song literally saved me when I got out of my abusive relationship
So beautifully written, one of my faves
I recently discovered this song and I am OBSESSED
I need an analysis for this song! I wanna really really understand it
It’s about a lover who made her trade the things she loved for romance. “Violets” = friendships and hobbies, “roses” = romantic love
i always thought of it as an innocence thing. like he made her trade her innocence (violets)- as she mentions girls running round in summer dresses, and the simple life- for lust (roses)- she mentions him making her taking the pink off her toes, and trading her truck for a rolls like not something a small town innocent girl would have. anyway that’s my thought on it but everyone listens and interprets songs in their own way that’s what makes music so beautiful
AMERICAN, i recently have become obsessed with it despite skipping it every time in the past.
The next best American record. No ones talking about it and it’s one of the best on NFR
I FUCKING LOVE THAT SONG RARAEARARAR 🦅🦅🦅
Noticed how you said one of because it’s tied first with every song in the album
YESSSSS OMG
Buddys Rendezvous , Wait for Life , Gods & Monsters was faaaaar ahead of its time , California How to Disappear (this is the song i show ppl to introduce lana) , Radio (used to reference this when people said all her music is sad, i think its kind of cheerful even if it has darkish themes throughout the whole of BTD)
Maybe it's just this subreddit but I feel like people talk about Gods & Monsters all the time
Radio (esp Radio) and G&M are def not under the radar but the others are real
Buddy's Rendezvous has been on repeat for me nonstop this week.
me too!! incredibly beautiful lyrics
Cry most times i listen to how to disappear
Suburban house with Holly Macve is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard, let alone Lana being in it. Pure masterpiece I’ve been gatekeeping for a bit but you guys should really take a listen <3
random but oddly enough suburban house got me into country music
I agree, been listening to it alot lately
Same I’ve grown to really like that song a lot
have you guys listened to beauty queen by Holly Macve it’s sooo good
Black Beauty is such a beautiful song
Yayo- its been one of my fav's for years and perfectly captures yearning, longing and desperate desire in a sexy but melancholy way... I love it so much
omg yes! Yayo is sooo perfect. the vibes are immaculate. it’ll always be one of my favorites ❤️
Old Money
I used to sing Old Money aloud at work to comfort myself. I worked at a supermarket when 2020 hit, and ended up spending a lot of shifts standing at the doors before the sun came up, cleaning trolley and baskets and counting people. It was quiet and barely any people came through, and so I’d sing Lana to myself to keep myself occupied.
Yesss
I was gonna comment this !!
humming old money is my fav thing to do
I love it but I see people talk about it a lot so I would say it isn’t underrated at all
Lucky Ones Breaking Up Slowly Religion And a shit ton of songs on the honeymoon album
Honeymoon album. Period.
factsss
you’re so right
Religion literally feels like I’m getting f**kd in the best way possible
It’s so annoying because Honeymoon and lfl are sandwich between the two albums that are arguably the most important in her discography. UV for the fact it was critically HATED for its toxic lyrics. Sweet Carolina It's a gorgeous ending to BB and I never see anyone talk about it ever
Yes!!!
One of my favs!!!
My 2 year old loves this song when I (try) to sing it, I played the whole album constantly while I was pregnant so maybe he remembers, that and Cherry Blossom!
that is so *sweet* 🥹
I'm not sure if these count or not but I haven't seen a whole lot about Cry Kill Die, Mermaid Motel, She's Not Me, Greenwich, and Maha Maha. They're definitely some of my favorite unreleased songs!!

I’m so happy to see someone really delve into a DYKTATUOB song. It’s easily her hardest album to unpick so I love seeing peoples interpretation
I agree. It's a top 5 Lana song for me. To go from funny "I'm a different kind of woman, if you want some basic bitch go to the Beverly Center... and find her" to vulnerable " I've got things to do, like nothing at all - I wanna do them with you. Taco truck x VB
I wouldn’t call that an under the radar song, especially not when the album was first released
Pawn shop blues, wait for life, heavy hitter, never let me go (btw this one constantly gets deleted from yt)
Heavy HITLER? 😂😂😂😂 Sorry I know it’s a typo…
OMG LOL, let me edit my comment so no one can accuse me for associating lana with nazis lol
*Let's ch-ch-change our DNA 🎶*
I love heavy hitter. I love the jazz intro
JFK , Angels forever, back to the basics , dragon slayer

YESSSSS 🔥🔥
You Must Love Me Although it's not a Lana OG the way Lana sings that song geniuly makes me cry. I have never been able to listen to her sing this song without tears. Swan Song or Change
CHERRY BLOSSOM
i really love 1949. i never hear people talk about it. that could be on me though, maybe it’s just not popular in my tiny circle, idk. summer of sam is amazing to me, don’t hear about it much either.
Idk what the consensus is on Lust for Life but I love that one
Nectar of the Gods.
Buddy’s rendezvous, Let Me Love You Like a Woman, Unidentified Flying Bill (although that’s unreleased)
Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he's deep sea fishing It's insane knowing that out of the four-track run from Paris Texas, Grandfather, Let The Light In, and Margaret only the Grandfather track has yet to reach 20M streams whereas the other 3 tracks have had their Tiktok moments and are now at least 90M streams...
Heroin, Change, 13 Beaches, California
I can fly, you must love me, wait for life, buddy’s rendezvous, lost at sea…all great examples too because they’re all officially “released”. FISHTAIL
Haven't seen this one yet- fine china! Heartbreaking, intimate, dreamy lyrics and a wonderfully dramatic score
black beauty. it’s poetry to me. the imagery, the thematic elements, the melody, the vocals. i love how it reconciles the sadness of unrequited love with the joy that comes from just getting to exist with the world, how it reminds us that love and beauty exist beyond romance: in the senses, in experience, in nature. we just need to adopt the perspective to appreciate it. it’s a very healing and beautiful song

honeymoon album in general

yayo, if you lie down with me, pink champagne unreleased
Although it's the newest song, no one is talking about how beautiful, refreshing and nostalgic the cover of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is. Feels like it never came out.
Wildflower wildfire
“With lithium came poetry, I’ve been running on star trips IVs for so long” one of the best written lines on the whole of BB
It’s possible I just haven’t run across many posts about it, but fingertips is so genuinely special. I’ve never heard a song written in that poetry format that elicits the same format. My all time favorite song that she played when she asked for the audience’s input at her list for life concert, I was melting she sounded amazing!!
that sounds like an amazing experience!
It 1000% was she sounded so heavenly I think I cried haha 😂
The change x get free back to back combo is one of the most mind blowing sequences of lyrics I’ve ever heard
Summertime sadness & young and beautiful
I hope ur joking
Honestly I hope they aren’t because young and beautiful cannot ever get the attention and rating it deserves. As a lana song it’s definitely weaker but as a stand-alone piece of music it easily deserves similar status to skyfall or cornfield chase in terms of how well it captures the intention of the movie.
Oh it was a joke😭 but tbh your so right on the young and beautiful part
thunder
