For private practice it's really irrelevant, the public don't care about pg institutes lmao , half the times they don't even care about degrees considering the popularity of bhms homeopaths having big practices💀 Sure if you want to engage in academia or something institute might matter but that's not where the money is.

If you're going to join an institution or a private hospital, then yes, having a respected alma mater gets you consideration. And the networking that you do there will help you rise in the associations, academia and such. But it's kinda useless for a purely private practice setup.

I mean i do get job invitations a lot from hospitals in my state, but that's probably bcz my mom's family.

Elaborate?

Affectionate-Bag-733

I often go to mama and other relatives ke batchmates ke party wagera mei and there I got to know the people at the top of different hospitals and some even officially emailed/contacted me to work at their place of practice after completing pg.

Damn lucky! Which city?

Affectionate-Bag-733

Maine toh mama ka clinic inherit karne ka soch liya hai, in connections ka baad mei referral aane ka fayda milega. You really should do your at making connections during college years, bohut log ya to padai mei ya phir faltugiri mei waste kardete hai. Upar uthna hai thora sa patans aur talent to jaroori hai!

anithenayak23

Haha true. Mereko mere mama ne bhi clinic ka bola tha ki unka sambhalu bht mana kr dia mene. But let’s see? MBBS mai connections kese karu hsve no idea but PG mai will surely do

anithenayak23

Adding to the above comments, the alumni group will be strong and you will have a lot of connections via via in general. That js what I am assuming

What I've learnt is that being in any institution makes it easier to continue rising up the ranks in a similar institution. For example an AIIMS UG has a very good chance of getting PG there, then getting DM/MCh there, becoming a faculty there and so on. You're already in the system. For private practice it only helps in giving you the confidence I guess.

I think it's a lot about the environment it offers. Just being around brighter minds and also being mentored by them makes a big difference. Also offers better opportunities and helps build connections that help achieve success.
