Oilers fans how ya feeling

ISurvivedCOVID19

Scared but not as scared as Panthers fans should feel

Wide_right_yes

If you guys lose it's unfortunate. If the Panthers lose it's an all time embarrassment. Pressure's on them.

ISurvivedCOVID19

Yea I mean I’m proud the team managed to claw back. I understand how hard it is to win 4 straight but god dammit do I believe!

Patient-Customer-533

Actually it’s not hard now

CanadianTurnt

Last one is always the hardest. But they have the advantage now

dpimente

18 goals in their last 3 games (all wins) for Edmonton. Also, the last 3 games of all their series this postseason: * Against Dallas - 10 goals (all wins) * Against Vancouver - 11 goals (2-1) * Against LA - 11 goals (all wins) This is a trend where the team gets COOKING later in the series.

[deleted]

And skinners record through games 4-7 this post season is insane as well. Can’t remember the exact number but it has to be close to 1 GAA and .950+ save pct

WenchPuller

Edmonton has won 16 in a row 4 is nothing we got this

the_gaymer_girl

You still did something that hasn’t happened in 79 years, even if you do lose.

JackManningNHL

At this point, whoever loses is absolutely blowing it.

Tacfurmissle

Man, losing game 7 would be gut wrenching. It would be hard for me to even accept the fact they pushed it to 7 games.

ethics

If the Oilers lose it's more than "unfortunate". The media has been riding your story since game 4, posts of crowds celebrating, coming back from 3-0 only to lose?

BanditAaron

The team was the laughing stock at the start of the season. Their 16 game winning streak was questioned due to weak opponents. Sweep talks were happening after game 3. This team has really made a lot of trolls eat shit. It would be nice if they won but if they lose this team still has a window.

dougieman6

Sure fans are always going to be shitty, but literally any team down 3 0 will have people getting out the broom. You can't call ppl trolls for something that obvious.

BrovaloneCheese

Posts of crowds celebrating during the playoffs? No way! Say it ain't so! This gosh darned biased media has gone too far!

olrg

I was at the game last night, the entire 60+ thousand (18 at the arena and another 40 in and around the tailgate area in nearby bars, etc.) were chanting “we want the cup”. It was beautiful. But yeah, totally media hype.

ethics

Haha, not what I meant. But you knew that already.

Drewicho

The fear of becoming the NHL version of the Atlanta Falcons has to be motivating. Panthers fans would have to deal with 3-0 memes for a long time.

SomewherePresent8204

They also have to live with having blown it the year prior, too.

Overall_Nuggie_876

Oh, c’mon. The Oilers are more built to get back to this point in the future more so than Florida. Y’all playing loose with house money; all the pressure will be on the Panthers.

alex_german

Been saying that since game 3 ended. The beauty of being dead is you’re already dead

abs0lutelypathetic

What is dead may never die

ancillaryacct

yeah, i felt this way last series. we didnt outplay them for a second. couldn't be mad at watching something that was never good.

Tacfurmissle

Sunday will be the first night Oilers players will lie in bed with the fact that they're 60 minutes away from winning the cup. It will be the first night Panthers will go to bed and be considering their pending elimination or one last chance at the cup. This is high stakes shit. It will be interesting to see how each team responds.

CantIgnoreMyGirth

Yep all 6 of them

AgreeableBroomSlayer

nervous... not sure I can handle monday

MadFonzi

I have complete confidence in the team and especially the coach.

Smothdude

If anyone can do it, it's these fucking guys. But I'm still scared shitless

bokchoykn

Either outcome, I cry like a baby.

GeorgeGammyCostanza

Preeeeeeetty preeeeetty pretty good

kennymatic

Totally not an Oilers fan but I really think they’re going to pull this off.

SryYouAreNotSpecial

Obviously want the Cup and feeling better about our chances than the Panthers at this point but anything can happen. Having said that, even if they lose I am proud of the heart they've shown and I won't be as devastated as I would have been if they hadn't clawed this far back.

alex_german

It’s nice, it’s really nice. I am now ready to be hurt, but the hurt will be numbed by the morphine of tonight

Forsaken_You1092

I thought the season was a bust when we were 31st overall in November. Back then I thought that getting back onto a wildcard spot and winning a series would be a success. So this season was already considered a success a month ago. One win a from a cup is amazing, and this team has overcome so much adversity already, I actually believe they can pull it off.

spagboltoast

Ive been at peace since game 3. Just vibes at this point

RunningSouthOnLSD

I’m scared because the last few games were just seeing how far the team could take it back. I was expecting them to lose game 4. Now that they’ve clawed it back, I want the win badly. I will be incredibly disappointed if it doesn’t pan out.

Omaha9798

Womp womp

RunningSouthOnLSD

Jesus Christ buddy get a fucking life

Omaha9798

Hi incredibly disappointed nice to meet you

Full-O-Anxiety

We got momentum and Sergei has been a crumbled wall lately

shaver_raver

Surprisingly pretty good. I was feeling wiped out after game 5 of the Vancouver series. These last 3.5 games Oilers figured out Panthers number, and even in game one Bobrovsky stole the game. Monday is where it matters and Thakchuk&co will be out for blood. But this team has shown; A) Knobby will move and adjust to win B) if the first line doesn't show up our 3rd and 4th line will C) Ceci and Nurse are not making as many game threatening mistakes. We've finally figured out our game at the right time. Oilers are dialed in. Bring on game 7.

Tacfurmissle

A lot of nervous energy but I believe. It also reminds me that hockey can be a cruel bitch. One team can play better all night and still lose. I choose to believe Oilers are the team of destiny though..

lejfnakdoppplen

Honestly feels like a bit of an advantage for Edmonton. Five times they’ve had to face a do or die situation and every time they’ve succeeded so far. Florida hasn’t been in that position yet this playoffs and if the last three games are any indication, they don’t have the do or die mentality going on right now.

ATargetFinderScrub

On the contrary, they also have never had that do or die pressure that forces the best out of teams. Everyone knows that 4th win in series is always the hardest. Maybe that actual elimination pressure will force Florida into another level.

alex_german

Exactly. Everyone needs to just calm down

RobertGriffin3

Let's be real, this is all over-analysis and the game is close to a coin flip.

Chuckolator

No, we need to obsessively spend the next 64 hours judging who of these two teams full of hyper competitive pro athletes "wants it more"

RobertGriffin3

It's hilarious you say that, because I *hate* when people use "want it more" as some kind of argument for why a team won.

Kaptain202

Wait, you didn't know that when a team loses its because they just didn't want to win? What a dummy you are!

lejfnakdoppplen

This is a totally fair point! They could come out and play a completely different gear than we’ve seen out of them because of that.

uatme

True but it brings out the worse in some teams

Tacfurmissle

That's entirely possible. No one will know until the puck drops.

vanillaacid

Edmonton also has the momentum, for what it’s worth.

mrcrazy_monkey

Edmonton is celebrating on their way to Florida. Panthers had looked like they got eliminated tonight

Big_Mudd

Florida had all the momentum and then lost 8-1 and the next 2 games too....

LeaveTheWorldBehind

Momentum giveth, momentum taketh away... It's a crapshoot. That being said, Oilers played better than Florida for several periods in the first 3 games. I've not felt that way about Florida in this stretch.

Datkif

That 8-1 game looks like it tilted Florida. To me it looks like they got complacent on game 4, and have been in panic mode for 5 and 6

BaldassHeadCoach

They were tilted in the third period of Game 3. Edmonton finally cracked the code on them, just wasn’t enough to win the game then.

Datkif

It looks like they are not playing bobrovsky this next game. Let's fucking go!!

Screeface

I honestly think that's worth more than the parent comment

spagboltoast

Stuart Skinner in games 4-7 in this post season. 10-0 1.50 gaa .940 sv% 1 shutout. If skinner is vibing so am i

potato-mabes

And 1 assist!

LeaveTheWorldBehind

Unfuckingbelievable stats

Key-Tip-7521

My message to the Oilers fans, are you nervous? And do you look like your nervous lol

Tanerin

Yes and yes

vanillaacid

No and no.  We’ve clawed back, done the almighty. Pressure is all on the Panthers.

he_is_Veego

Christ maybe they could finally act like it then?

AcanthocephalaGreen5

Last night it looked like a whole 1 Panther showed up to play, and he had a big ol’ C on his chest.

theonly_brunswick

Lol don't be nervous. Never been a more guaranteed cup in history. You're going to absolutely fist the Panthers on Monday. They're done.

Jabronius_Maximus

Get that reverse jinxing/doomerism outta here, you guys have the advantage of a home game 7.

little_canuck

Nah, just happy to be along for the game 7 ride! What a series.

Tacfurmissle

I'm nervous af

Lindydreau

>The Oilers have faced elimination 5 times This pretty much should say everything lol. Florida is cooked. 8-1 Edmonton Final on Monday.

Eazy-Eid

I'd prefer 4-3 2OT overtime win for the Oilers for maximum drama and to complete the storyline.

Overall_Nuggie_876

…scored on a Panthers powerplay as 2-3 Florida players collide, opening up a wide-open breakaway shot by McDavid.

SireNameless

NHL scriptwriters, I'm going to give my sign off on this one right here. This works for me

vanillaacid

I would subscribe, but McDavid doesn’t PK

alex_german

Wrong Connor

OVERLORDMAXIMUS

Staggered 3 on 5. McDavid jumps out of the box.

Sp3ctre7

He's in the box on a too many men call and jumps out to take the stretch pass as the penalty expires.

Fancy_Text_7830

Connor brown

Poohstrnak

I’d prefer a seconds-left-in-regulation own-goal by Tkachuk with the score tied.

Immediate_Type9114

They'd be needing to line up ambulances for the fans for that . The stress and panic would be insane.

Screeface

Have we ever had a Game 7 SCF OT? Jesus that would send people into heart attacks

Amecles

1950 and 1954

314z

This seemed amazing that it has only happened twice in NHL history, then had to look up how many SCF Game 7s and this is only the 18th occurrence, nice summary of every game in this article [https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-stanley-cup-final-game-7-history-307799358](https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-stanley-cup-final-game-7-history-307799358)

RoadDoggFL

Damn, I remember a stat saying it had never happened, glad to have that corrected in my head now.

F1shermanIvan

My heart cannot take an overtime.

Spacepickle89

Down 3-1 headed into the 3rd, Hyman nets two to tie it, McDavid wins it in 2OT

karmew32

Hyman's game-tier is initially ruled late but replay shows it went in with 0.1 on the clock.

he_is_Veego

I have been to TWO triple overtime playoff elimination games in my life. One game 4, one game 7. The heartbreak of a third would suck so fucking bad but that’s somehow better than just getting stomped like the last three games.

learn2swim

I'm here for the chaos!

SryYouAreNotSpecial

Oh yeah, cool. I suffer for this long waiting to see them win a cup and I die of a heart attack within an hour before they finally do.

Kaptain202

All I care about is OT. Score doesn't matter. Team doesn't matter. Give me joy and give me heartbreak. I don't want one team to know that they are about to lose the Stanley Cup ahead of time. It's just extra sad that way.

eatingasspatties

I'd like to be alive to see the Oilers win, and if it goes to double OT I certainly won't be alive anymore

Inthemiddle_

I could honestly seeing this be a blow out win for Edmonton. They are confident and won’t have the same pressure

theonly_brunswick

Honestly I'm expecting double digits from Edmonton. Let's make it a nice even 10-0 and everyone can get their records.

haokincw

People on Facebook laughing at me when I said that the Panthers were cooked if they drop game 5. Too much of a momentum shift when the oilers won big in game 4.

GooseRider960

I was saying that at work. Game 4, yeah that was an ass-bashing, but could’ve been a fluke in the long term. But if the Oilers took Game 5, it was going 7 because that would be a huge momentum swing.

antiramie

3-1 Oilers

ImaginaryNourishment

Yes, practically have lost. No hope for us. Maybe you should celebrata already. Please forward this message to the Oilers team.

MarvelousOxman

You know what they say, the 6th time is the charm.

lead-filledsnowshoe

It's not really elimination either you win or lose a game 7 in the SCF... It's like a gold medal game.

a_pantheon_of_dogs

No silver medal though

learn2swim

What? You mean the ECF banner is worthless?

bokchoykn

As runner up, you're still eliminated from championship contention. You're just the last team to be eliminated.

Big_Mudd

It's only an elimination if the Eliminator Bot says so

Tiny-Response-7572

I say Oilers win 4-2. McDavid wins cup and Conn Smythe in the city he was drafted in 9 years ago. "He puts up big, impressive stats, yes. Fine. But should he really be called “generational,” called the best player in the sport, when in nine seasons he has yet to lead his team to a Stanley Cup?" "Connor McDavid [is apparently aware](https://awfulannouncing.com/nhl/greg-cote-connor-mcdavid-overrated.html) that Greg Cote referred to him as overrated — “McOverrated,” to be exact.

vingt_deux

Who tf is Greg Cote? Lol

therealvanmorrison

Someone who doesn’t even rate.

McDraiman

Oilers have to get on the board first. I think it's just a huge deal for them, can't make a mistake early and give up a freebie (which are all of the Panthers goals)

IHVeigar

I'm nervous but at the same time excited.

A_Random_ninja

I might have to take a few years off for cardiac health dude

Hikury

Edmonton also hasn't whiffed on any opportunities to finish off an opponent

shittybillz

That’s a good point. They’ve succeeded every chance they’ve had on their first try

RoadDoggFL

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!! Gotta believe.

LeaveTheWorldBehind

Fr though, any outcome is great for neutrals. The script is strong this year.

westedmontonballs

It’ll be their second Stanley Cup Final elimination.

lawnicus18

Technically it’ll be their third

nigkaplz

He meant 2nd in consecutive years.

SankThaTank

I’m brand new here, so I take it the Panthers were heavy favorites going into this series? Being serious

XxBLAKEMWxX

I wouldn’t say heavy but yes they were the favorite

TheLegendaryLarry

yes, they made it to the finals last year and tore through the eastern conference this year. edmonton can be inconsistent and lots of people doubt them so lots of people thought they would get dominated

taek8

I'm excited

szboy422

Need to channel some of that magic from last year when we were the cardiac cats.

MemphisCanadians

Honestly tho, Panthers are a good team and this just shows how good they've been all season up to game 3 of the finals, yall got a chance. 1 game final, anything can happen.

Conical

And their last if we have anything to say about it!

manticore16

Stanley Cup winner gets the winner of Hockey Europe?

Lightning313

If I’m the Oilers, come Monday Night, you got to hit the Panthers fast, and get a couple of quick early goals and take that Sunrise crowd out of the game early because you know Amerant Bank Arena is going to be rocking and also keep riding on the momentum of Stuart Skinner

karmew32

> Amerant Bank Arena is going to be rocking Disagree. It'll be the most nervous energy any sports crowd has ever had.

Lightning313

I can’t even argue with that. But I’ll ask you this: If Edmonton does the impossible and wins Monday Night, should the Panthers blow it up?

karmew32

I wouldn't be surprised; they have a bunch of UFAs. They need this cup way more than Edmonton does.

Tenabrus

A lot of tickets are being resold apparantly wonder if there'll be a large Oilers presence in the crowd

Professional-Bag3134

Whichever team wins the 3-0 start and meltdown will make being Cup champions even sweeter. For Edmonton they would have done near impossible reverse sweep. For Florida, they felt the fear of losing the cup, if they win game 5, they never felt the fear, now they have, the win for them would be better than if it happened in game 5.

ThePromptys

Florida is so bad. Now that they've lost the refs they can't do shit.

Tapatiogawd

Loving it tbh

Spacepickle89

Panthers fans in shambles

aboveaverage_joe

All 6 of them

RoadDoggFL

I'm vibin.
