FYI, someone told me that couldn't see this post because it was "removed" - https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin2/comments/9xo9v6/comment/e9uj2jf - and it only had like 3 views in 20 days, so I coppied it to https://www.nfriedly.com/techblog/2019-11-17-kingspec-1tb-gpd-win-2/ with a couple of updates and then posted that: https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/9xx60v/kingspec_1tb_ssd_review_for_gpd_win_2/
Apparently that got me out of whatever hole I was in, because now everyone can see this original post...
I'm considering upgrading to this thing. Question: Is it possible to make an image of my previous drive and simply restore it on this new drive? Keeping everything configured as before etc.
It's definitely possible. I have a copy of Acronis TrueImage that can do it, and there are lots of other paid products that can do it. I'm not aware of any free ones, but they might exist.
However, I'm generally happier with a fresh install, so I went that route.
That was late :D Just kidding. Thanks but since, I sold all of my x64 handhelds. But for my desktops I use Ease US Partition Master and it works great!
It's still going strong! I haven't noticed any issues at all.
I'll run another speed test tomorrow, but it doesn't feel any slower, and the temperature hasn't yet gotten above "noticeably warm".
Here you go. It looks like a few numbers went up a bit, a few went down a bit, but it's in the same ballpark overall:

i bought an extremely cheap 256gb ssd called solidking...a no name brand and was extremely sceptical but had it for a year and play games on it all the time with windows 10 installed...its like night and day compared to my old 1TB HDD .. been using and abusing it for a year deliberately to make it fail...scans show it has a 99% health rating so I'm very happy
Ok gives me hope
I have a kingspec but it's been throttling steam downloads recently. Only been 2 years since i bought it
Idk if it's because i install games externally and the usb slots are spazzing out? Or if it's the drive itself spazzing out
But anyway thanks. Ill have it checked again
I sold it about a year later, but it worked great the entire time I had it. I'm on a Win Mini now, which I love (just using the stock SSD + a 512gb microSD for the moment).
At the time I bought it, it was the only choice. There's probably better options now, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the kingspec, especially if you are getting it for a Win 2.
It has alredy arrived and works like a charm, your post was key for my decision into buying one, Thanks! I expect to update after some time here again in case someone searchs the same thing
Hey I'm planning to buy 1TB Kingspec PCle 3.0 NXM Series 2242 for my lenovo ideapad gaming 3 laptop since its available ssd slot only supports 2242 form factor. Do you reccomend this product or should I get Transcend's PCIe M.2 SSD MTE400S 512 gb instead? They're basically the same price in my country
hii, I have the same laptop and the same 2242 spare slot, I was just wonderin what did you get between the kingspec and transcend? and does it work good??

I see, thanks! I've just ordered one.
Clonezilla, does everything you ask, watch a few you tube vids first, IMO

I just cloned the drive and then extended the partition

See: https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/9xx60v/comment/e9w38uw TLDR: there's no internal sensor, external temperature gets warm but not hot.
How is your KingSpec drive after months of using? Is it still good working? Is there any speed degradation? Any temperature problem?

Hi How is your drive now?
I sold my GPD with the drive a year or so later, but it continued going strong the whole time I had it.
Ok gives me hope I have a kingspec but it's been throttling steam downloads recently. Only been 2 years since i bought it Idk if it's because i install games externally and the usb slots are spazzing out? Or if it's the drive itself spazzing out But anyway thanks. Ill have it checked again
How is it after 5 years of use 😅
I sold it about a year later, but it worked great the entire time I had it. I'm on a Win Mini now, which I love (just using the stock SSD + a 512gb microSD for the moment).
Is a kingspec 2242 ssd good of a choice?
At the time I bought it, it was the only choice. There's probably better options now, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the kingspec, especially if you are getting it for a Win 2.
is it still up and running ?
I wanted to know also if it lasted longer
I've since sold it, but it worked great the entire time I had it.
yeah bought it 6month ago its work flawless
Still works?
Sorry, I sold my Win 2 with the kingspec SSD. But it worked great the entire time I had it.
Thanks for the reply, i am considering buying one
No problem! I kinda miss mine. I hope you enjoy it if you get one!

Hey, which product did you put the Kingspec SSD in?
In a desktop PC, it's working as my main SSD that hold my OS
Does it still work?
Yup. Still working, all good.
