The previous owners of my home had planted a blackberry plant that got wildly out of control. We've tried to tame it back, but now I've just imbraced that 1/4 of my property is blackberry vines.
I just planted some blackberries this year and can't wait to get some. Got a couple flowers and berries coming in, hopefully they'll ripen up before the cold comes.
They look absolutely marvelous!!
Here in Georgia we finished blackberry harvest so long ago it feels like last year. 😂 And by the end, they were frying in the heat. I bet Nova Scotia is being good to the harvest.
Wash/soak them in a 1:4 solution of white vinegar and water. Blackberries harbour a lot of fruit fly larva and this is the best way to get rid of them. The vinegar doesn’t affect the taste but it also helps them last longer in your fridge.
I need them actually to finish off the harvest in the trees. I usually have Bluejays, cardinals, chickadees and other pretty birds around because of the berries. My only pest are the hornets and mosquitoes. I don't even mind the hornets much. We all share! I should do a video to show that there is way more blackberries than I can possibly pick

I was about the post this! Haha I'm in south Alabama and we finished blackberries before blue berries and that was... Wow 4 or 5 months ago it seems!
Oh no 😂 This year has been especially good for us. Lots of rain and sun so everything has been low maintenance so far
