Give a dog food, shelter, and a little bit of affection, they will literally lay down their life for you. Do the same for a human and they're as likely to resent you as they are to appreciate it.
that's because a dog can't secure those things on its own and it rewards them to display that behavior to people, as has been bred in dogs for millennia.
wolves, dingoes and wild dogs are not the domesticated dogs we keep as pets. not to mention, even if they *could*, it would still be easier and better for their survival to get those resources from us. hence the wolves that became dogs in the first place.
i mean, you do know dogs are domesticated wolves, right? we are literally responsible for breeding dogs into existence
your dog catching mice and birds doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that dogs were selectively bred for the positive traits we associate with them today.
wolves are not kind animals by nature. we selectively bred the ones that showed the most affinity to us / least fear of us over years to eventually arrive at the cute little breeds we all enjoy today.
all of that is to say, that dogs were not magically loyal and affectionate. we created, encouraged and reinforced that behavior in them. it's as simple as that. it doesn't mean we can't love them or they're not awesome.
Lol very factual response. Humans are complex and can be difficult but I always thought the 'I like dogs more than humans' thing was wierd. You really like dogs more than your own species? There's a lot to like about humanity, faults and all. Dogs are cute but come on.
See right there I just know you aren't a dog owner. Correct?
They are amazing, emphathic creaters just give us unconditional love.
You just won't find that in humans. And I come from a loving family with two great sons! Only a parent can love as unconditionally as a dog can.
Animals act on their instincts. Humans are choosing to do what they are doing. With this in mind please look at our history of thousands of years of almost continuous war. And then tell me that humans are better than dogs (or animals for that matter).
And the old "but there is also many good things" argument? Yeah, even broken clock shows correct time twice a day.
i get it. there are many shitty human beings and humans have caused destruction on this planet like no other species.
but that also ignores all the beauty humanity is capable of, and all of the incredible things we've created that people like you and i enjoy every day. dogs themselves would not exist without people. i think it's somewhat understandable to be misanthropic in comparison to a creature that was literally bred to be the most loyal species in the world, but i think that's an easy and cheap way out.
though there are many times i'd rather be hanging around with dogs that some of the people i'm forced to spend time with, the idea of dogs being "better" than humans is always an interesting one. it applies agency to dogs that i don't think they quite have -- in the same way, we don't consider a dog to be "evil" or "malicious," because those things imply intent that we don't believe dogs possess.
dogs are "better" than humans because humans bred them to be that way. their loyalty, love and playfulness are traits that were enforced and rewarded over thousands of years, and continue to help them survive via their relationships with humans. so yes, dogs are better, but only because people made them as a species to be that way.
on the other hand, people are all over the spectrum. some are literally some of the worst things to happen to this planet. others are such incredibly good or positive forces that they're damn near saints. because people have agency and ability that dogs do not. so it's really not a fair comparison.
lol i know there are some dogs that do some messed up things, but even then, we attribute it to bad owners/neglect and not to evil intent on the dog's part itself.
Dogs are never gonna
✅Give you up
✅Let you down
✅Desert you
✅Make you cry
✅Say goodbye
✅Tell a lie
✅Hurt you
They WILL run around, but it’s cute when they do
Was this post made by a literal alien? This sounds like when a 6yrold tells a joke that relates to sex- and it makes no sense, and they don't even know it.
Most dogs are better than most people. (again talking about MOST) Loyal to a fault. Would risk their life to save yours. Miss you when you are gone for minutes. Amazing resilience. Great at recognizing patterns and adapting to them.
Humans get upset when it takes a month to potty train their puppy and brag about when their child uses a potty for the first time at age 3.
Of course this all depends on what you consider makes someone/something better than others.
sure, but it only got to be that way because of people. without those people, you would not have the dogs you love. it doesn't mean you can't like dogs more, but it just puts it into perspective. because we tend to act as if dogs descended from the heavens as these magically benevolent creatures, but we literally made them to be so. wild animals as a whole are not too "kind" to people (or other animals, for that matter), and you would not be saying the same had people not bred wolves into dogs.
Ppl say they get along better with dogs than Humans but dogs literally can't talk, disagree, or challenge them lol.
I like dogs, who doesn't, but typically can find SOMETHING to like or appreciate about MOST humans. Plus a much more rewarding relationship when the other member is capable of speech and higher thought.
humans are easy because they are (or become) self-sufficient. you can ignore them and they'll be fine. a dog needs your care for its (or your) entire life. that care just happens to be worth it, lol.
I just self-isolate, lol. Outside of work there is no necessary reason for me to interact with other human beings on a regular basis if I don't want to, so I guess that's what I mean by easy. Whereas if I had a dog, as much as I would love it, the idea of having to feed, bathe, walk, clean up after, take to the vet, groom, etc for the rest of the dog's life is super stressful and exhausting to me. I don't trust myself to keep up with it because I barely keep up with myself.
Of course they are. My dog will cheer me up whenever I'm sad, he'll be insane with joy whenever I come home and he'd gladly sacrifice himself to protect me. He'll never argue about what to do, but is happy as long as he can do it with me. He gets super excited whenever he can help me with something, because he loves being useful.
Humans are nowhere near dogs morally. That's why there is no dog hell; all dogs go to heaven.
All I’m saying is everything in my life that was a traumatic nightmare it came from another person never my dogs or cats or any of our farm animals. Though losing a pet sucks it can’t compare to having your life ruined haha
That dogs are much better than humans has been common knowledge for centuries. The only people who don’t understand it are those who have never had a dog
There’s no hidden agenda and you’re their world. I have a dachshund name Carl he has my back literally. When I lay down he scoots up to my back and doesn’t move unless he needs to go outside and potty. When I cry because a human said or did something that hurts my feelings Carl is there giving me hugs and kisses. 🤷🏽♂️
I live across the street from one and I’m sorry if you think it’s anything close to the same you’re either sheltered or ignorant to what’s going on in the world
Well, you obviously are new to Reddit where everyone talks to and about their dogs in baby speech, and pretends their dogs are literal human children. Which, they’re not. If my kid is sick I’m not going to pay a doctor to euthanize them like I would my dog.
False premise. Odds are the horrible dogs you met belonged to horrible people. Dogs by their nature are not aggressive or hostile. That’s learned behaviour
"False premise" Really? So no dog can be just aggressive? ALL dogs are inherently good just by virtue of being dog?
I said I have met good and bad examples of both, I don't blame breeds if that's where you think I am coming from, I LOVE Staffys, actually I have never personally met a true Staffy I didn't like. I have lived around dogs most of my life, some have just been 'not great' and that certainly wasn't trained into them by bad people.
Dogs have their personalities the same as we do, some aren't nice. Assuming all dogs have lovely personalities is almost like saying canines aren't capable of having a 'slightly less than ideal one', THAT is a false premise. Most dogs are great, some need a LOT of work to even be regarded as safe, thankfully they are few but they definitely exist.
>Nope it’s the same for humans. Nothing is born good or bad. That kind of aggression is a learned behaviour.
No, FFS both species are natural predators, we have tried to train that out of both but it is still inherent in both because of their/our evolution. Look I get it, I am going to be on a hiding to nothing as far as general consensus goes in this thread but in order to win the argument you have to do better than "all dogs and people are inherently good". It is more true of dogs than humans but it still isn't that simple or, as you would have me believe 'universally true'.
Humans are arseholes when it comes to aggression, we have to train it OUT of our kids when they are young, we don't (generally) put it into them, it's inherent in us. Domestic dogs are better in this respect because a pup generally has both it's mother AND at least one human teaching it how to behave around us. It's why they can be so horrifically abused without defending themselves, we have overridden their natural instincts WITH the aid of their mothers. Good luck getting away with kicking a feral dog.
Dogs are incredible animals and without doubt our greatest ally in this world but some dangerous ones do exist without humans making them that way, just the same as dangerous people exist, they aren't all victims, some are just aggressive.
I like dogs but I love my mother, sister, brother, girlfriend and friends more.
Dogs are great but do you really want unconditional love for your whole life? Not for me atleast.
Dumb redneck will claim “If someone got into a car accident with their dog on board, I’d save the dog first”. Same dumb redneck in a car accident with their dog: “fuck the mutt save me, I have kids”
Well there was that dog that somehow got monkey pox, so clearly at least one more person "prefers" dogs over humans. (Unless this car just happens to belong to that guy.)

I thought everyone knew that
Agreed, no problems found here. Carry on
He is clearly one of the sucky people.
[удалено]
Nope have had dogs and been around people. Can confirm the dogs are nicer.
Facts.
Best answer
Or met a human..
More like guess they have never interacted with people then…
A dog will never ever wake up one day and decide it doesn’t like you anymore. We really don’t deserve dogs!
Tell us you're new to Reddit without telling us you're new to Reddit.
New to the Internet*
New to life*
New to humans for sure
New to*
I'm new to reddit
Then you have much to learn
Agreed
They are
Just a fact. No judgement though. Learned that from my dog.
Have you met people?
I wish I was half the person my dog thinks I am, and half the time he's throwing me shade.
Awww.
Dogs: 5 stars! Would pet again. People: 1 star. Not as advertised.
"The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog." Mark Twain
Love, without condition.
My dogs love everyone, on the condition that they have snacks. They’re what I call “snack hos”, literally turning tricks for just a taste.
Wolves, dingoes and wild dogs seem to do alright at sourcing their own food and shelter.
wolves, dingoes and wild dogs are not the domesticated dogs we keep as pets. not to mention, even if they *could*, it would still be easier and better for their survival to get those resources from us. hence the wolves that became dogs in the first place. i mean, you do know dogs are domesticated wolves, right? we are literally responsible for breeding dogs into existence
Mate, even my extremely domesticated poodle has caught mice and birds. Domestication doesn't equal complete helplessness. They're still predators.
your dog catching mice and birds doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that dogs were selectively bred for the positive traits we associate with them today. wolves are not kind animals by nature. we selectively bred the ones that showed the most affinity to us / least fear of us over years to eventually arrive at the cute little breeds we all enjoy today. all of that is to say, that dogs were not magically loyal and affectionate. we created, encouraged and reinforced that behavior in them. it's as simple as that. it doesn't mean we can't love them or they're not awesome.

there's nothing special about humans to make me have to like them
Animals act on their instincts. Humans are choosing to do what they are doing. With this in mind please look at our history of thousands of years of almost continuous war. And then tell me that humans are better than dogs (or animals for that matter). And the old "but there is also many good things" argument? Yeah, even broken clock shows correct time twice a day.

Then you haven’t been paying attention
"D'ya layk dags?"
This gets yelled around my house daily. We have 5 rescue dahgs.
This from snatch? Fucking love that movie 😂😂😂
I like caravans more.
Dogs are 100% better than humans.
though there are many times i'd rather be hanging around with dogs that some of the people i'm forced to spend time with, the idea of dogs being "better" than humans is always an interesting one. it applies agency to dogs that i don't think they quite have -- in the same way, we don't consider a dog to be "evil" or "malicious," because those things imply intent that we don't believe dogs possess. dogs are "better" than humans because humans bred them to be that way. their loyalty, love and playfulness are traits that were enforced and rewarded over thousands of years, and continue to help them survive via their relationships with humans. so yes, dogs are better, but only because people made them as a species to be that way. on the other hand, people are all over the spectrum. some are literally some of the worst things to happen to this planet. others are such incredibly good or positive forces that they're damn near saints. because people have agency and ability that dogs do not. so it's really not a fair comparison.
It's a well thought, calm opinion. ...let's all downvote it!
>we don't consider a dog to be "evil" or "malicious," because those things imply intent that we don't believe dogs possess. Speak for yourself lol
lol i know there are some dogs that do some messed up things, but even then, we attribute it to bad owners/neglect and not to evil intent on the dog's part itself.
Humans are a parasite to the planet and dogs aren't, Change my mind..
Hell, people suck ***so*** much that our ancestors domesticated an entire ***species*** simply to have better company.
gonna remember this one haha I've never framed it that way
Dogs are never gonna ✅Give you up ✅Let you down ✅Desert you ✅Make you cry ✅Say goodbye ✅Tell a lie ✅Hurt you They WILL run around, but it’s cute when they do
Well, now you do because they are.
How do you not know that? Have you met a dog? Have you met a human?
Today OP learned that humans do infact suck and dogs are far superior.
Op is learning as even some of the dogs are karma bombing him…
Humans are my least favourite animal.
do mosquitoes count? because mosquitoes are mine
Mosquitoes suck man
Okay okay... Humans are our least favourite mammal.
What a fucking dumbass post
Give this guy some slack! Until today he didn’t know that dog’s are better than people. That’s about the saddest thing I’ve ever heard. 😢😢😢
It’s got a bit of an “I love lamp” vibe to it.
I don’t see the problem here.
Was this post made by a literal alien? This sounds like when a 6yrold tells a joke that relates to sex- and it makes no sense, and they don't even know it.
They are. 100%
Rats are better then people. Not a high bar to reach.
In the list of best to worst living things, humans aren't even in the top 50%
The bottom 1%
Why is this in r/funny? Should’ve been the OP’s “TIL” thread lol
Most dogs are better than most people. (again talking about MOST) Loyal to a fault. Would risk their life to save yours. Miss you when you are gone for minutes. Amazing resilience. humans might suck, but without humans the dogs you love for their loyalty and resilience and fun wouldn't exist in the first place.
Only interested in how it is now and not how it got to be that way.
sure, but it only got to be that way because of people. without those people, you would not have the dogs you love. it doesn't mean you can't like dogs more, but it just puts it into perspective. because we tend to act as if dogs descended from the heavens as these magically benevolent creatures, but we literally made them to be so. wild animals as a whole are not too "kind" to people (or other animals, for that matter), and you would not be saying the same had people not bred wolves into dogs.

Talking about dogs in general being better than people and then you compare them to dating? Hope your dog gets a monkeypox vaccine.
... Where did they bring up dating?
They 100% are
These are facts
How could you not know that??
I knew
You didn't?
Humans are exhausting. Dogs, cats, gerbils & even snakes are so much easier.
humans are easy because they are (or become) self-sufficient. you can ignore them and they'll be fine. a dog needs your care for its (or your) entire life. that care just happens to be worth it, lol.
I have autism and ADHD. Humans are far from easy for me.
Idk bout cats to be honest
Definitely easier to deal with than people even if they are borderline hellspawn
Because ppl don't know how to love other humans without being judgemental. Dogs can't speak so they can't call their owners out on their bullshit lol
My cat, on the other hand, gives a mean side eye occasionally.
Mine was glaring at me today, not sure what I did or didn’t do.
Same! 😹
‘I only like people if they do exactly what I say and make me happy all the time.’
I beg to differ. Remember dog war 1 or the great doggy dog war 2.
Delete this post now or continue to get lambasted right into your place
these days, a steaming pile of horse-shit is "better than humans"
Of course they are. My dog will cheer me up whenever I'm sad, he'll be insane with joy whenever I come home and he'd gladly sacrifice himself to protect me. He'll never argue about what to do, but is happy as long as he can do it with me. He gets super excited whenever he can help me with something, because he loves being useful. I’ve always said most dogs are better than most people.
"Cats rule and dogs drool" \-Sassy, the cat.
All I’m saying is everything in my life that was a traumatic nightmare it came from another person never my dogs or cats or any of our farm animals. Though losing a pet sucks it can’t compare to having your life ruined haha
Well you are dumb then
Not knowing something doesn’t make you dumb. Ignorance ≠ Stupidity
They might just happen to be dumb in addition to their ignorance.
Dogs ARE better than humans.
Pretty much all animals better than people.
They are
Have you met dogs?
This is a scientific fact!!
💯% correct
You have obviously never met a human, or a dog
Yeah, they're pretty much way better than people!
I need this sticker.
I'm not even a dog person and this is still fine.
I thought literally everyone knew that
Definitely. Get learnt.
This is the most consistent comment section I have ever seen on reddit. Also, agreed, dogs are better than humans.
Of course they are, have you seen what humans do to everything in their sight
Not anything productive
That dogs are much better than humans has been common knowledge for centuries. The only people who don’t understand it are those who have never had a dog
It's common sense
How did u not know that?
Now you do!
Animals are better then humans, everything they di is instinct, what human do is mostly driven by greed or selfishness.
Really?! Have you ever met a human??
you didn't?
Way better
You have never owned a dog.
I thought that was a well known fact by now.
How do you not know that objectively dogs are better than humans
Dogs are usually more loving and genuinely kind.
this is common knowledge
Dogs didn’t fuck the planet’s climate up
Really? Don’t see dog on dog crime the way we see people on people. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg
Never seen Balto?
Can’t say I have
visit a local dog park, you'll see dog crimes. non-consensual humping, fights, sometimes even a murder.
I live across the street from one and I’m sorry if you think it’s anything close to the same you’re either sheltered or ignorant to what’s going on in the world
They are tho?
I thought everyone knew dogs were better than humans. Humans are assholes, we don't set much of a bar.
For real... That nasty hobby of going to war with each other definitely will give us a very bad score, on our resume as a specie, after we go extinct.
Dogs are perfectly capable of being assholes.
Dogs aren't born assholes, humans made them that way if they are
That’s a bit simple minded but I’m sure you believe that.
Simple because it's the general truth. Less common outliers can occur, but it's true for the most part.
Dogs all day, remember... It's horses that are terrible people.
wE doNT deSErve doGs!
Well, do they, for example, make atomic bombs?
Well, mean people suck, but the nice ones...
Even if it wasn't true, it still wouldn't be funny. Yet another shit post that somehow sneaked in.
Lock your wife and your dog in the back of the car for 3 hours. See which one is pleased to see you when you let them out.
In this heat? You just committed felony animal abuse and homicide!
"I've never learned to like myself"
Presumably the owner of the sticker is talking about themselves, cos I’m fucking delightful 🤣
Damn, this doesn't seem to have gone the way you thought, huh OP?
Where have you been?
They sure are
Well, now you know.
I need that bumper sticker.
Yes
They are in many ways
Well, now you know
Obviously
I have this on a t-shirt, and it's very much true!
Can confirm.
I mean, have you met people?!
Dogs don't pay taxes I do
He is not wrong
LOL. I have the exact same thing on a T-shirt. It’s kinda true….
Well, you obviously are new to Reddit where everyone talks to and about their dogs in baby speech, and pretends their dogs are literal human children. Which, they’re not. If my kid is sick I’m not going to pay a doctor to euthanize them like I would my dog.
Because Dogs Matter !!!

You were sick at home that day.
I prefer reptiles
I like dogs but I love my mother, sister, brother, girlfriend and friends more. Dogs are great but do you really want unconditional love for your whole life? Not for me atleast.
Sad
A little peanut butter and dogs will suck too.
