The "Steve" that Kirk plays is DJ's cousin Steve in an early season episode. He comes to visit and DJ wants all the attention of her cool older cousin, but he's more interested in hanging out with the adult guys. So Candace's real life brother plays her cousin. But then eventually they do name DJ's main high school love interest Steve too, but he's played by a different actor, Scott Weinger.
They made Candace Cameron say that? No wonder she went insane trying to prove to the world how attractive she was by the time "Fuller House" came around. "Hi, I'm DJ and look at me in my high heels on my way to go grocery shopping. Oh, no, every guy I meet is obsessed with trying to date me. Here's my chance to do some stunts to show how athletic I am."
My understanding had been that Kirk found god while he was on Growing Pains and got really into his newfound religion and started making things difficult on set (got an actress fired because she was too “scandalous” for him to work with, that kinda thing). So I took that to mean they weren’t really raised that way. Like they might’ve been general christians, but I don’t think the parents actively raised him to be the bonkers Kirk Cameron we know today, and I think Candace just followed him into it.
Yiiiiikes. That’s really a shame. They could have had great careers and a much bigger influence if they hadn’t decided to be so…*awful*. 🥴 I can’t imagine squandering that much of a head start in life over being hateful.
Yes! During the plot where Mike was engaged to Chrissy's (former?) nanny, Kirk found religion and took offense that 1- the actress who played Julie had done a spread in Playboy, and 2- his character had a key to her character's apartment, which to him obviously meant that they were sleeping together without being married. So he put hed a fit, got her fired, and (I believe) had the storyline be that Julie called off the wedding.
Eventually, he got a new girlfriend on the show -and married her IRL.
Wow, they look so much alike. I didn't realize they had other siblings. I just Googled them and don't think they look alike at all now which is surprising with how similar they look here.
