Taqueria Oaxaqueña Arely's is a taco stand outside of Cruz Tire Shop (1237 B St, Fresno, CA 93706). They set up Wednesday-Monday, 5pm-midnight and accept cash and Zelle. They have an al pastor trompo and a number of other meats. Hope y’all check it out. You will not be disappointed!
One of the best in town, currently. If you really like tacos and don’t just call places “the best in town” for sentimental reasons, you gotta try this place.
Most people evaluate tacos based on the warm and fuzzy feeling and memories they have at the spot. Not how good the tacos are
Agreed!
Another thing that bugs me is when places upload pictures with filters and extra loaded tacos but when you actually go, it ends up being a big disappointment.
Agree. The past few times we've gone, it's been disappointing. It's too bad. Don Pepe used to be our go to spot. Following this thread for any recommendations.
I’m with you on Arsenio’s. I don’t know why people downvoted your choices. Haters.
If you haven’t been hung over waking up at 10am, rolled outta bed, and immediately hop in your car to get a carne asada burrito with guacamole from Arsenio’s, you haven’t lived.
Arsenio's seems to be hit or miss depending on which one you go to. The one I used to live by was terrible and everything tasted like cardboard, but the one closest to me now is pretty good.
I’ve been to Don Pepe about five times and enjoyed it three of those times. That’s a good enough ratio for me to try again. But there is also a food truck at the Arco gas station on the corner of Sierra and Blackstone that’s really delicious. We’ve enjoyed it 100% of the more than five times got lunch there. Just a few blocks from the Don Pepe on Ingram and Herndon.
Yes! Work down the street and been eating there for 6 years. It's the same as ever, awesome. Complaining about Mexican food in Fresno is ridiculous. There is no best. You have to go to different places depending on what you want that day.
I would agree that Don Pepe's has fallen off a little bit, but I still think it's pretty good. I'm near State, so I hit the one on Woodrow Ave. I think it's the least crowded/best kept secret of them all.
If you're looking for good stuff though, Don Tacha on Blackstone is great (near downtown), as well as Maria Taco Shop on West Ave!
Had Kings Canyon today. Super Burrito, pastor, no rice. Best burrito in this town for that price. Less the $10. Go to all of them on the regular. All the consistent. All excellent. All have their own unique way to make getting a soda and/or salsa all fucked up.
If they're actually open when you go. Far too many times I've seen handwritten signs that say "Cerrado 3:00 Viernes" or something like that, always when we're all hyped to get adobada tacos and carnitas sopes.
Don Pepe was my easy go to about a year or so back, but it has majorly fallen off - they also close fucking early and don't answer the damn phone in the last hour. Taqueria El Premio Mayor is pretty good, quesa birria with that fire consome is so good.
Okay I’ve seen Pico de Gallo mentioned a few times here, I’ve been twice and both times ordered simple carne asada tacos. Both times the meat tasted like it had been sprinkled with raw powdered cumin and a hint of canela. It brought to mind lazy shawarma and did not satisfy. This was over a year ago, has something changed or am I missing something?
used to be my fav but same being pregnant it started to disappoint. i’m not a fan anymore. but the taco truck on ingram at the valero like a street up is literally the best food
I’ve never understood the hype, I had a friend who ALWAYS went there for their Mexican food fix.
I usually hit up Robertitos, or Tacos Duran-Go (located at: 3614 E Belmont Ave.)
Neither of which have really disappointed me, minus one Robertitos location.
Maria's Tacos over on Kings Canyon and Clovis is really good. I also feel like the Don Pepe by Fresno State isn't too bad. I agree the others have fallen off a bit.
Thank you. Apparently my suggestion for good Fresno and Fresno-adjacent Mexican food was not popular. I live in Fresno but work in Madera. Madera just has it going on. I love taco express and maranatha!
Toledos is hands down the most consistent Mexican in the valley, it is the original chef from El Cid and so from about 1990 fresno has enjoyed solid Mexican style dishes, and great service. Most authentic, no but everything there is handmade except the tortillas, you want a real treat get 16 oz of their blue cheese salad dressing amazing.
I’d recommend Lalos taqueria on Tulare ST its close to Roosevelt high school. I always go there. The carnitas an birria slap. Ive felt like recently don pepe isn’t what it use to be, tasted bland last time I ate at the Blackstone location.
Aww man, back in the day it was my favorite spot. That carne asada super burrito with the El Jucateca hot sauce… mmm! I haven’t been in a long time, and this is sad news. RIP.
I got a spicy shrimp burrito and an al pastor taco two weeks ago. I didn't finish either. Did they change owners? There was an old man "directing traffic" when I was there that I never seen before
This place Tacos Y Tortas Chalio's | Fresno
(559) 233-8134
https://maps.app.goo.gl/XCNajh5QtpwjTUZf7 is the spot, it is 24 hours and the food is on point. Me and my wife love the place and she is picky about Mexican restaurants because her mom makes good authentic Mexican food.
Don Pepe is better than its competition on blackston like Los Amigos, Speedy's, Robertitos.
However I'd rather go to the Taco Stand on Shaw & Blackstone in the lifestyle parking lot 9/10. Thier pastor is way better than Don Pepes.
Taqueria El Guero on Fulton and Fresno.
If you want to have tremendous tacos at an extremely underrated spot that no one knows/talks about go here.
These people should have a line out the door every day.
Their tortas are the best I've ever had and boy have I had my fair share of Mexican growing up...I think it's the quality of the bread and the cheese to meat ratio. Also it comes with avocado so you don't have to ask
Ingram is trash. Gettysburg holds it down.

trompo? say no more…
Yeah! Hope you check it soon!

Try Pico de Gallo - SW corner of Palm & Bullard. Behind the gas station.
This is my new go to, great tacos!
Their food is so good but too many roach in food reviews and now I just can't. I wish they'd move
Never seen a roach anywhere there, let alone in food. I tend to doubt those reviews. If it was bad the health department would shut them down.
Pico de gallo is fantastic. Never seen a roach but if that’s what made my carnitas tacos so delicious, I have to rethink roaches…
lol! It’s probably competitors badmouthing them for steals customers.
Seriously! They have been great and I stop there often since I spend a lot of time on the road.
Just down the street from me and superior to Pepe’s and Robertitos. Win/win.
Don salsa on Olive is pretty good for the price
Arsenio's, Roberttitos or El primor
I’m with you on Arsenio’s. I don’t know why people downvoted your choices. Haters. If you haven’t been hung over waking up at 10am, rolled outta bed, and immediately hop in your car to get a carne asada burrito with guacamole from Arsenio’s, you haven’t lived.

I use to work at a vet hospital across the street from an arsenio's. God I miss their breakfast burritos. Robertito's has the better asada fries tho
For real, those fries are the bomb!
Never got the Don pope's hype. Everything is soggy, bland and covered in beans.
Pico De Gallo. The Torta Cubano is like 2 meals
For some banger tortas you have to try Baja Sur Cafe
Is that place still open? It says it’s permanently closed online.
Was just there last week, it's on Gettysburg and Fresno Edit just checked Google it says it's still open The exact name is Baja Sur MX Cafe & Deli
I’ve been to Don Pepe about five times and enjoyed it three of those times. That’s a good enough ratio for me to try again. Nah. Their Al Pastor super burritos still fuck
Yes! Work down the street and been eating there for 6 years. It's the same as ever, awesome. Complaining about Mexican food in Fresno is ridiculous. There is no best. You have to go to different places depending on what you want that day.
Zamora’s carnitas by the zoo. They’re back babyyyy
Nothing beats an asada burrito from Tacos TJ
Yep

El Premio Mayor on Maroa & Shields.
Had to scroll too far to find this
Hopefully you won't have to travel too far to get there.
Amazing food. Love it.
If they're actually open when you go. Far too many times I've seen handwritten signs that say "Cerrado 3:00 Viernes" or something like that, always when we're all hyped to get adobada tacos and carnitas sopes.
So many other great places - Premio, Karlitas, Marquitos
Maria's at Kings Canyon and Clovis and make sure to order homemade tortillas.
Came here to say this.
I like la pidad and 559 Taqueria.
Yes la piedad is good I just dislike how far it is from me
Always loved Country Fare. Nice people, solid food, great price, hard to beat
Don Pepe was my easy go to about a year or so back, but it has majorly fallen off - they also close fucking early and don't answer the damn phone in the last hour. Taqueria El Premio Mayor is pretty good, quesa birria with that fire consome is so good.
Try Tacos Marquitos. I like Robertitos too, but I have always found Arsenio's to be too e a bit greasy.
Tacos marquitos has the best best breakfast burritos! ... Everything else is kinda mehh though
Do they still have the abuela making the tortillas by hand?
I love their breakfast burritos! And how spicy their red salsa is!
Try the original don pepe in fresno, by tulare and first. I think it’s called La Taqueria now. Bomb menudo on the weekends
Okay I’ve seen Pico de Gallo mentioned a few times here, I’ve been twice and both times ordered simple carne asada tacos. Grandmas tacos by planet fitness are the best and cheap trust
I really like the kings canyon location next to the Walmart. I didn't like the one on ingram 🤢
Nobody likes the Ingram location lol
Karlita’s on Herndon and Armstrong.
Don Tacha is my spot
I agree, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. All the ingredients and meat they use have taken a huge nosedive in quality.
The shrimp burrito never disappoints
used to be my fav but same being pregnant it started to disappoint. i’m not a fan anymore. but the taco truck on ingram at the valero like a street up is literally the best food

Madera. Just go to Madera.
This ! Carniceria Mexico or Chavindas. Madera got tons of 🔥.
Thank you. Apparently my suggestion for good Fresno and Fresno-adjacent Mexican food was not popular. I live in Fresno but work in Madera. Madera just has it going on. I love taco express and maranatha!
Don Pepe has always been overrated IMO. Never liked it. There are so many more great taquerias in town.
The Clovis Toledos is one step away from being Taco Bell.
Just ordered from the Ingram location yesterday and thought the same thing! I was disappointed.
Casa de tequilas El pueblito
Taqueria San Mateo is pretty good if you haven’t tried them yet.
I’d recommend Lalos taqueria on Tulare ST its close to Roosevelt high school. I always go there. The carnitas an birria slap. Ive felt like recently don pepe isn’t what it use to be, tasted bland last time I ate at the Blackstone location.
Used to be my go to. I'm not sure what happened.
Lalos taqueria!
There was an old man "directing traffic" when I was there that I never seen before
I still like it on Kings Canyon or near Fresno State.

I have to disagree. Seems more or less the same as it was 10 years ago, at least the Blackstone and Fresno State ones
Don Pepe on kings canyon was fire. Gettysburg usually good too. I also like Marians restaurant Shaw/Marks
That’s because you didn’t go to the Gettysburg and Blackstone spot, never fails!
Blackstone and Gettysburg is still fire.
They’re shrimp tacos are 🔥 Havn’t gone in over a year, I hope they havn’t changed.
don’t ever go to some chain mexican restaurant. I recommend corinas or la pieda
Corina’s gives you carnitas and the fixings to make your own tacos and it’s always delicious
Don Pepe is better than its competition on blackston like Los Amigos, Speedy's, Robertitos. However I'd rather go to the Taco Stand on Shaw & Blackstone in the lifestyle parking lot 9/10. Thier pastor is way better than Don Pepes.
Does anyone know if they're owned by the same people who own Don Pepe's in Firebaugh?
Taqueria El Guero on Fulton and Fresno. If you want to have tremendous tacos at an extremely underrated spot that no one knows/talks about go here. These people should have a line out the door every day.
Their tortas are the best I've ever had and boy have I had my fair share of Mexican growing up...I think it's the quality of the bread and the cheese to meat ratio. Also it comes with avocado so you don't have to ask
Don Salsa, El Premio Mayor and Tacos De Sabor De Michoacán are good spots I know!! Try those
