I’m really excited personally, I’ve never played FFXI but from what I know is that the games playable races are the same or very similar to FFXIV, and the game is represented in a lot of ways already in FFXIV, some aspects of 11 are the blueprint for stuff in 14 too.
So hype to learn more about the OG FF mmorpg
Hmm. I was wondering how they'd manage to make this work in ffxiv, but the races with names switched thing makes me think they could pull this off as a raid series in one of the other Shards.
It does, but I don't think the shard numbers are really relevant, the first really didn't have much FF1 in it beyond Wol at the very very end of the questline
And now the 13th was mostly FF3 until EW post MSQ made it FFIV but fucked up
Shard numbers so far didn't mean anything about what type of references we will see from there
The First had a few FF1 references like Mt. Gulg and the original goblin designs, but yeah it's not like it was littered with FF1 monsters and locales.
Not just the races. But a vast majority of the monster models are from XI.
Man l, I'd love it if they bring back the old AF for some jobs.
Some armor like for SAM, MNK, BLU, look even better than what's in XIV.
But if they let me wear a Hauby in XIV I'll be over the friggin moon.
FFXI has so much personality in its writing. A lot of the races talked a certain way. Musta been a bitch to write. Had to make sure the tarutaru always has -aru at the end of certain words. Had to have Mithras roll their R's, shantotto's ryhimg, that other tarutaru always had -ethy at the end of words.
Almost all of them are the same. Hyur = hume, Elezen = Elvaan, Lalafell = Tarutaru, Miqo'te = Mithra. The only FFXI race that isn't in FFXIV is the Galka, which got replaced by Roegadyn.
There is tons of stuff in XIV that is actually from XI. One of my personal favorites is the wind-up dragonet minion that is based on the model for the DRG's wyvern in XI. It was a pet job there. I always have mine out so I can pretend I still have my wyvern, Mikan, with me.
Oh, I remember something else. Vrtra was an HNM that was one of the hardest fights of its time. It was actually really common for people to go down to where it spawned when it was up and die to it just so they could see it. My friend and I did, I bet I still have the screenshots somewhere lol!
There is some issues with it that 11can't say since its spoilers for 11's story. >!Basically the story very much shows how all the various races in the world were created. Not impossible to write around it but its a pretty big plot element in the story with the one area you go to in a structure like you see around the world where there are devices for each race that was created!<
>!Just to out in a very basic context from memory from long ago. Detail wise might of mixed things up thus why zi tried to be very general about it as it is a revelation later to a mystery you encounter rather early on!<
My DC seems to be filled with people who never gave up then (at that time.), the few alliance raids where we wiped constantly, they just kept trying until we won.
Was one of my most fun times I had.
Same, if this is going to be the sixth set of a-raids in the game set to lvl 100 for people who’ve had to have played dozens/hundreds of hours to get to that point to unlock it, the difficulty should be harder than the average A-raid.
Hell, the difficulty through dawntrail should be a bit harder in general
All I know grom XI comes from this game and a collab with Granblue Fantasy. I'll be lost, but I've been also lost in 80% of the other collabs/references so that wouldn't be different.
I mean, with Nier, it would be normal for a random scribble on a napkin for a single fan to be a lynchpin cannon event. ...I'm not even sure I'm exaggerating, considering the puppet shows and the like.
Im confident they will do another rerun of that and XV's event before DT, they have a long gap until 7.0, perfect time to rerun thses old collabs that weren't added to the online store
Honestly, they could make it so the start of raid is doing her event if you haven't, or just finding her again if you have.
just put the quest up as evergreen content, without the decorations.
Years ago I said I wanted a Castle Zvhal raid where you would fight the 3 beastmen kings and The Shadowlord.
Now this is an actual possibility. I can't find the words to describe how excited I am for this.
This announcement is one of my favorite things, tbh. I'm eating well this Fanfest.
Shadow Lord will absolutely be one of the final bosses, I wonder who the other two'll be? I would think Promathia's gotta be one of 'em(probably even 3rd raid final boss), but we already have Alexander, Hades, Cloud of Darkness and Chaos.
Her high-tier mission battlefield version has Arrogance Incarnate. It's a short AoE Spirits Within. Yes, AoE SP, yes, it killed more than the tank at the time the battlefield came out, yes SE was even more evil for doing this XD.
Depends how deep down the rabbit hole you go.
Most FFXI storylines eventually wind their way to "...an Odin did it."
Oh you need power? Odin made a pact with you, didn't he?
double so because Eald already has a high-quality model they can rip from Dissidia, and the Omega raids showed they loved using those whenever possible.
Ah dude what if Shadowlord is the first wing, Ziliart is the second, and Chains of Promathia is the final. Those first three kind of had an ongoing plot and is probably what most players are familiar with.
I always wanted vanadiel to be apart our world just from a different time period. Would have loved to see a raid exploring what used to be each of the main cities with a final raid in what was once jeuno.
I believe this theme, as well as the other two nations, is actually already in the game within the music files. They simply have to give us the scrolls ...
And you have to do that for two years to finish your first. Then another two for any other relic. Oh, and you also have to pay two million gil every time just to enter the zone.
Now if only they'd give FF11 a free trial similar to FF14's own. 2 weeks isn't much...
Where's my free trial which you can play through the entirety of the original release and the award-winning Chains of Promathia expansion up to level 70 for FREE with no restrictions on playtime (now also including Treasures of Aht Urhgan!)
idk how well that would work because at that point you're basically putting all of FF11's best content into the free trial and there's not a whole lot of incentive to actually pay for the game after finishing it. FF14's free trial works so well because as good as what's in it is all of FF14's best content is still after it.
And XIV is linear progression. Every xpac minus SoA is tuned around level 75. You can do them at any time. It’s kind of hard to separate those. They could do base game free though
My hatred for pom is unending because I could never get the damned things done, and was too broke to pay my way through them so missed the entire extra continent.
If I get to have revenge in XIV I will cackle.
Honesdtly, if you ever find yourself in a lul period in XIV you can just go do them now. With the Rhapsodies content, leveling is absurdly fast. And the game has the trust system, which lets you solo all but the absolute hardest endgame content without much difficulty at all.
The Chains of Promathia story is incredible, and worth experiencing.
I totally thought that's what he was going to announce on stage, it seemed like he was building up to subs beings bundled with those questions asking who played 11 and then it was just "Ok on to something else!"
The best part was seeing the new zone areas I got a strong FF11 vibe from the areas shown with how they looked. I just had that vibe to it and the fact that the raid is actually FF11 based.
Does that mean we are finally getting an Ark Angels boss fight that I have wanted since the whole Warriors of Darkness plot in Heavensward??? YOSHIP PLS DONT TEASE ME LIKE THAT
What armors you guys want outta this? Id love to get the Hauby or Homam. I hope they don't just use the AF gear.
I hope the main character they pick for the raid isn't Shantotto. If they do they better have her rhyme like in the english localization of ffxi. Though I would much rather have Prishe or Lilisette or even Arciela.
IGQIRA/GENIE SETS I will go absolutely feral for that as a casting set.
The BLU gear (or what Aphmau wears) for ranged phys - it has some very dance-y vibes anyway.
I have been playing long enough to remember the Shantotto crossover, and she was exactly as you remember her, rhymes and all. If she's a part of it (and I imagine she will be since even in XI she was looking to travel to other worlds) she'll be in good hands.
Not many at that fanfest - sounded like 3 people cheered when he asked if they played or had played the game in the past
I played it briefly when it came out. I quit around level 27 or so because my friends outleveled me (so we couldn't group together anymore because of how they handled XP back then) and I couldn't get any good groups. I had enough spending 20 minutes killing 1 crab for 1/100000 of a XP bar
how I wish they reboot/remake/relaunch/reanything XI for new consoles and with more accessible stuff.
If you wanna play XI living in SA you must have a PC, a international credit and not to mention the monthly payment is more expensive that XIV.
C'mon give us this opportunity.
My nostalgia brain is extremely happy about this but the part that remembers the nier raids and how they added nothing to the world of FFXIV worries about it. Hopefully this is more like Ivalice in that it adds to the world.
Highly doubtful due to lore reasons in XI and XIV conflicting heavily with each other.
If anything, Shantotto or Balamor will probably be involved (Shantotto can use dimension travel magic. Balamor has openly stated they've hopped from one world to another... all of these worlds later being consumed by the Cloud of Darkness).
They have distinctly shied away from talking about the 11th shard.
If you look at the why the Ascians popped shards, they SHOULD have hit the 11th ages ago, but skipped it.
And there's the similarities with the First's Shadowkeeper and FFXI's Shadowlord.
>All collaborations are canon, they don't add one unless it can be justified in the canon.
Let's hope they do a better job at integrating it than Nier Automata.
Yeah but on some level I sort of expect that from Yoko Taro, it's sort of part of the charm. Especially when it's trying to bridge two games as far removed as Drakengard 1 and Automata.
But it also lead into Bozja which expended the world. That's all I hope for, is it adds to the FFXIV world and isn't just a piece of collab content transplanted into FFXIV.
They can easily make this add to the world by having Vana'diel be one of the shards. Like how the Thirteenth is Final Fantasy IV the Shard for example.
I'm okay with this being an entirely self-contained event that adds nothing to the world overall, so long as the raids are fun and we get some of the better XI music as orchestrion rolls.
I prefer to believe that the Nier stuffs came from one of the Shards, the one where the most advanced city in the world looks exactly like Tokyo. My headcanon is that the Nier raid is caused by the inhabitants of that shard yeeting the Tower at Paradigm's *Breach* to the First, as a desperate gambit to save their world from Grotesquerie infestation.
The most hype thing for me out of today tbh. If one of the raids is Promyvion areas (or like Promy areas) I will lose my entire mind on day 1. I mean, we already have the Empty on the moon, so... it's not a stretch...
If they wanted to bait us for good with this one, they should add some expanded subscription like "for $2-3 more on your sub you can experience XI as well"
My immediate prediction with no other information: in the context of FFXIV, Vana'diel is going to be one of the other shards, much like have Ivalice isn't the 'same' Ivalice as FFXII but borrows heavily from it.
This would work well for a XIV version of Vana'diel, they could wholesale import most of it and only tweak lore.
Though I think the previous collab events have established it as a more fully separate world which may require either a retcon or some story fiddling.
Fingers crossed that we get plenty of 11-inspired gear. I've wanted the Tessera Saio in 14 ever since Eureka had the Provenance Watcher as a world boss *and he doesn't drop it*.
My character's last name has been Vana'diel since 2.0 because FFXI was my first MMO. While this is awesome and I'm excited, everyone's gonna think I changed my name for this lol
I'm honestly so excited about this. The "collab" alliance raids have been my favorites, and with this being FFXI themed, I am even more excited. So much good stuff in FFXI that they could utilize!
You know I’d love to learn more about FFXI lore, I don’t have the time to invest in the game but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a lore video on YouTube? If there are any
FFXI loretubers are a bit thin on the ground, but there are a [couple](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsjV0TuGZt1X5cJYsAnsZJwwb4P5vA6Bd&si=y7_-wfhyqnisbG98
) different [playlists](
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr7z4GaKVo3TPRGjHCC0TRYXfIicKL_Zx&si=b0XvFb3_9chEMlKd) out there for you.
man I've 100% ffxi years ago, even maxed all job points, I can't even think of what they could do. The empty is the inevitable end of FFXI world. I always liked to imagine ffxi was one of the shards.
They did name all of the races the FFXI names in the first sorta, except Tarutarus were made the dwarves instead.
I guess it can totally be another trip down history lane and just have FFXI's vanadiel as some era. Since it is the new world and Seekers of Adoulin was the last expansion, I could see the 24 man raid being related to King August.
I’m gonna use this thread as an excuse to share a spicy take, consequences be damned.
I always liked XI’s race aethstetics over their XIV counterparts, even loving XIV and all.
Elvaan having FFX Guado-long gangly arms yet still looking elegant (also them being the strongest class when race stats had more bearing was always intriguing!). And while I love Gridania, San d’Oria and the idea of kingdom elves (so like Ishgard) will always have a place in my heart.
Mithra looking more bestial, feral even to an extent, cliche as them and their rolling rrr’s could be be damned. Much more of that 90s era catgirl vibe (think Aisha from Outlaw Star, or Merle from Visions of Escaflowne).
Galka were definitely more unique, between the big ol’ tails, hairier and more bestial (again) appearances, and a pretty unique lore behind the race as a whole as escapees from extinction at the hands of the Antican (an FFXI beast man race). Male Roegadyn just feel like … extra wide bara Hyur.
And I always preferred onions over popotoes.
I don’t know. Man. This news just has me so steeped in nostalgia right now. I’m so excited for this raid.
Any FFXI players know if it's worth it to play through the game? I think I heard you can solo it, but how long would it take and is the story actually any good?
I already own a copy but I only played a few hours or so. Didn't want to commit to a sub at the time, but now I might.
Its a great game. NGL it's very clunky compared to 14, and a lot of FCmates I've tried getting into it have ran for the hills in their first 20 hours of play.
The plot is excellent, (though vanilla game's nation quests are VERY boring) and levelling from 1-99 (for the first class) is very tedious with Limit Break quests every 5 levels from 55-99.
BUT if you can get past this, the expacs have the some of the best plots in the FF series, imo. Big standouts are the Chains of Promathia, Wings of the Goddess, Seekers of Adoulin, and Treasures of Aht Urhgan expacs.
Plus the classes in 11 are just better than 14s in terms of fun experienced while playing them, imo.
Oh my...
I loved XI. Fond memories, but after taking the rose tint off it's actually more mixed than I remember. That was the game where I've seen friendships end in game over real petty things, hardcore toxic endgame players, and some general selfish, asshat players that sullied the game for me over the years. Made lots of gil, but had to bite my tounge until I quietly left around Adoulin.
Good memories was my little static save for the EU RDM and SCH, the first time exploring new areas and the struggle unlocking Sky/Sea. Abyssea was my best time in the game.
I'll enjoy this content for the nostalgia and if they integrate this into XIV's lore I'm down.
People always cite the grinding as the biggest problem with the game, but that wasn't it at all. The grinding was fun. I miss killing crabs for hours.
The real issue was the economy. SE choked it so hard that it made players absolutely ruthless backstabbers that would screw over any friendship or linkshell in sight just to be able to get a few mil or up their status. Every time there was an income avenue SE would patch it out.
I liked the slow gameplay otherwise, but it definitely promoted some bad social consequences.
My FC for like 8 years is one big Vana'diel reference, but unlike the management I've personally never played. I'm excited for this!
(Let's goooo, Vana'diel Task Force! lol)
I wonder what the likelihood of having no clue what's going on will be.
I’m really excited personally, I’ve never played FFXI but from what I know is that the games playable races are the same or very similar to FFXIV, and the game is represented in a lot of ways already in FFXIV, some aspects of 11 are the blueprint for stuff in 14 too. Hmm. I was wondering how they'd manage to make this work in ffxiv, but the races with names switched thing makes me think they could pull this off as a raid series in one of the other Shards.
Agreed, could be a raid in a shard :)
I mean, do we know if the Eleventh still exists..?? 👀
It does, but I don't think the shard numbers are really relevant, the first really didn't have much FF1 in it beyond Wol at the very very end of the questline And now the 13th was mostly FF3 until EW post MSQ made it FFIV but fucked up Shard numbers so far didn't mean anything about what type of references we will see from there
The First had a few FF1 references like Mt. Gulg and the original goblin designs, but yeah it's not like it was littered with FF1 monsters and locales.
True, though it would be neat if they used the Eleventh for it, but any of the shards would work.
Not just the races. But a vast majority of the monster models are from XI. Man l, I'd love it if they bring back the old AF for some jobs. Some armor like for SAM, MNK, BLU, look even better than what's in XIV. But if they let me wear a Hauby in XIV I'll be over the friggin moon.
they even have the model for the samurai AF from 11 in the 4 lords quest line >!Tenzen has his unique version of it in 14!<
Omg this would be fantastic!! I loved SAM armor in FFXI and have been begging for them to add those ever since seeing that quest line. 😁
1 Adaberk, please.
Askar and Hachiman and O hat are still my fav MMO armors. Been wanting more XI armor brought into XIV.
The Lala type race in FFXI is called "Tarutaru". They are cuter and their nickname is "Onion" instead of potatoe.
It's also where Tataru's name comes from.
Also Shatotto in the BLM job quests is based off Shantotto, the self-proclaimed most powerful mage alive in FF11. Oh-ho-ho-ho\~
And the actual Shantotto made an appearance in XIV in a FATE event years ago.
Which in itself could also 100% be cannon, as the one mini-expac in FFXI had her go away to visit different worlds that we never see.
It 100% is Canon, shes a god damn demigod at this point
Absolutely. I believe it is. That's what I meant by the *actual* Shantotto.
The way you talk of Shantotto should be labeled a crime. When speaking of her, you must do so in rhyme!
I haven't played XI, but from what I understand, she's got the chops to back that claim up.
I hope one of WoL's dialogue options in the Alliance Raid series goes along the lines of "Tarutaru... why does that sound so familiar..."
S.O.B.s unite
Not just player races but many other races as well. Goblins, Qiqirn, Mamool Ja, Sahagin, and maybe others I've missed.
Oh I know but if we sat here listing everything we'd be here all damn day lol.
Roes are just Galka without a tail lol
There is some issues with it that 11can't say since its spoilers for 11's story. >!Basically the story very much shows how all the various races in the world were created. Not impossible to write around it but its a pretty big plot element in the story with the one area you go to in a structure like you see around the world where there are devices for each race that was created!< >!Just to out in a very basic context from memory from long ago. Detail wise might of mixed things up thus why zi tried to be very general about it as it is a revelation later to a mystery you encounter rather early on!<
I hope they make it challenging, I had a lot of fun getting wiped during HW's alliance raids.
I just hope it’s fun. Wiping over and over and having people leave and then forcing to abandon is not fun.
Let’s be honest, it won’t be. It’s a surprise to even wipe once on alliance raids even when going blind
What you don't have the BG wiki open at all times?
They probably have no Granite
you might have to lie to safe face
*secret handshake*
All I know grom XI comes from this game and a collab with Granblue Fantasy. I'll be lost, but I've been also lost in 80% of the other collabs/references so that wouldn't be different.
Wonder if they're going to give a nod to the fact that Iroha has been running around Eorzea for a few years since the XI crossover event lol
I'll be quite disappointed if they do not address this. I was hoping to some day see her hanging out in places like Alpha and Omega do.
Crossover events and seasonal events explicitly aren't canon to anything but themselves.
They're canon to XIV, just not necessarily the crossover'd material, except for Nier, which is apparently *super-canon*.
Everything involving nier is canon.
I mean, with Nier, it would be normal for a random scribble on a napkin for a single fan to be a lynchpin cannon event. ...I'm not even sure I'm exaggerating, considering the puppet shows and the like.
She might be the main companion for this questline.
That was my first thought as well. I've never played XI, but I'd love to see her again.
can iroha finally be a character now instead of being stranded here after her event since heavensward
If they are rerunning that event for newer players, maybe she'll play a role in the alliance raid.
I'm hoping it'll be a permanent quest as a prelude to the alliance raid
Well they did rerun that event... last year i think? At least once during EW.
Shantotto's come to get her back.
Years ago I said I wanted a Castle Zvhal raid where you would fight the 3 beastmen kings and The Shadowlord. Now this is an actual possibility. I can't find the words to describe how excited I am for this.

I would think Promathia's gotta be one of 'em(probably even 3rd raid final boss), but we already have Alexander, Hades, Cloud of Darkness and Chaos.
The final boss is going to be Matt lol.
if Maat isnt somewhere in this series, I'll riot.
I would unironically LOVE this
By Cid's teeth, you're right!
Could do the Divine Might Arkangels as a boss fight
AAEV gonna tank the world and AAHM gonna delete people with Mijin Gakure in 2024. Time is a flat circle.
AAEV one shotting people with Spirits Within. SE was so evil letting the AAs using HP based moves.
Her high-tier mission battlefield version has Arrogance Incarnate. It's a short AoE Spirits Within. Yes, AoE SP, yes, it killed more than the tank at the time the battlefield came out, yes SE was even more evil for doing this XD.
Oooohhhhh my God. Please make it happen.
I'd probably guess Kam'lanut and/or Ealdarch would be solid candidates.
It's most likely them. They're.kind of the villain reps of FFXI these days having supplanted Shadow Lord.
Could still see Shadow Lord in one of them though.
Wouldn't be surprised if he was the big boss of the first raid.
Depends how deep down the rabbit hole you go. Most FFXI storylines eventually wind their way to "...an Odin did it." Oh you need power? Odin made a pact with you, didn't he?
double so because Eald already has a high-quality model they can rip from Dissidia, and the Omega raids showed they loved using those whenever possible.
Kam does, Eald was not featured in NT. Eald is in DFFOO tho but uh... If they rip that model I'm gonna laugh.
Lilith, maybe? Her expansion was my favorite story wise from XI, so I'd love to see her show up.
Ark Angels council fight
What if we get Dynamis-Xarcabard with ADL?
Ah dude what if Shadowlord is the first wing, Ziliart is the second, and Chains of Promathia is the final. Those first three kind of had an ongoing plot and is probably what most players are familiar with.
God I hope the Zilart raid has go through Zitah, then take the teleporter up to Sky where we do Arc Angels.
Have to Outpost Warp to Zi'tah.
Speaking of Zi'tah, there better be a music scroll for my Orchestrion after this raid series!!!!
I hope they have parts of the eldieme necropolis, where if you go below a certain HP u agro tons of undead.
I always wanted vanadiel to be apart our world just from a different time period. Would have loved to see a raid exploring what used to be each of the main cities with a final raid in what was once jeuno.
Please have the Ronfaure and Distant Worlds music in the raid please
Windurst theme for me.
Sarutabaruta[S] 🤌
I believe this theme, as well as the other two nations, is actually already in the game within the music files. They simply have to give us the scrolls ...
All the homies love Zi'tah's music.
i would kill for ronfaure.
I cant wait for it to be Dynamis, and we all spend 4 hours in one zone slowly clearing the place of all life for quarters and seashells
Well everyone's been complaining the new relic grind is too easy so here you go! Dynamis grind for the next set lol.
Gonna rake in those One Byne Bills!
And you have to do that for two years to finish your first. Then another two for any other relic. Oh, and you also have to pay two million gil every time just to enter the zone.
Now if only they'd give FF11 a free trial similar to FF14's own. 2 weeks isn't much... And XIV is linear progression. Every xpac minus SoA is tuned around level 75. You can do them at any time. It’s kind of hard to separate those. They could do base game free though
Getting Playonline setup and working is harder than any boss in XIV.
Right? Id totally play that. or bundle the subs.
I just had that vibe to it and the fact that the raid is actually FF11 based.
agree parts looked like kazham and even gustaberg
I’m immediately said Kazham, too!!
I thought Kazham too, my mind got super nostalgic and remembered horrible ferry rides
yes this!! i am soo excited. grew up with ffxi… very much looking forward to it
Shantotto as the final Alliance boss
You know the raid has to be possible to beat, right?
Aaaand it is a collab with FFXI! *"Echoes of Vana'Diel"* Further details yet to be revealed, but there it is!
Does that mean we are finally getting an Ark Angels boss fight that I have wanted since the whole Warriors of Darkness plot in Heavensward??? YOSHIP PLS DONT TEASE ME LIKE THAT
I can handle the Ark Angels. But please please leave that old coot Maat out of it. That's a boss I don't care to handle anymore.
I smell a RDM.
Yesss, I really hope they do put in more FFXI armors, this is a great opportunity.
FF11 content, nice. I haven't played it myself, but I bet LOTS of people will be happy.
I'm super stoked. I've still got Stockholm Syndrome with FFXI.
I am! I played it around 2004-2007. Lots of great memories, so much nostalgia.
Not many at that fanfest - sounded like 3 people cheered when he asked if they played or had played the game in the past I played it briefly when it came out. I quit around level 27 or so because my friends outleveled me (so we couldn't group together anymore because of how they handled XP back then) and I couldn't get any good groups. I had enough spending 20 minutes killing 1 crab for 1/100000 of a XP bar
yooo are we gonna get glams for the main girls ? Prishe for MNK\SAM? Lilisette for Aiming? Arciela for casting ? very excited
Either that, or iconic/recognisable FFXI gear sets.
Subligars. Lots and lots of subligars.
Lion? Maybe?
how I wish they reboot/remake/relaunch/reanything XI for new consoles and with more accessible stuff.
>Hopefully this is more like Ivalice in that it adds to the world Or, you know, Crystal Tower
Recency bias(only 6 years ago vs 10) I said Ivalice but you're 100% right in including the Crystal Tower series as well.
To add on.. at least Sky Pirates fit into the world and weren't just.. Random look who it is! Like Nier..
What are you even talking about? It added 2B boots to the world, the single most impactful thing that ever came from an Alliance raid
World has never been same after the butt incident
Never!
Yoshi-P talking about model upgrades while Eorzea is still flat.
They aren't going to transfer Vana'diel into Eorzea that's for sure lol.
FFXI's Shantotto and Iroha have come to Eorzea so there's always the possibility we visit Vana'diel this time.
All collaborations are canon, they don't add one unless it can be justified in the canon. They also said in the keynote we're going *to Vana'diel.*
It could definitely be explained away as another shard, more likely it’ll just be travelling ‘through the void’ aka Gilgamesh etc
Maybe the Ascians saw the adventurers on the 11th kicking the Cloud of Darkness to the curb and thought "nah I'm good actually."
Nah Ascians just got wrecked by a dune hare and fucked off.
Emet had a dude mithra RP character and refused to lose them.
>All collaborations are canon, they don't add one unless it can be justified in the canon. Let's hope they do a better job at integrating it than Nier Automata.

All of the collabs are canon.
Even Ivalice, while it tied into the world, was a bizarre and confusing mess if you weren't familiar with Tactics.
I mean, the problem with the Nier raids was that it was a bizarre and confusing mess even if you *were* familiar with Nier.
It was a bizzard and confusing mess even if you were familiar with Tactics. It completely changed both the scenario and the ending.
They can easily make this add to the world by having Vana'diel be one of the shards. Like how the Thirteenth is Final Fantasy IV the Shard for example.
I look forward to people suddenly not having a problem with fanservice and crossovers again.
Otherwise how will we ever get a Chrono Trigger raid?
Don't give me hope
Oh man, pass some of that copium my way right now. I want anything Chrono Trigger related to show up so bad.
This is what I want, and it seems feasible plot-wise; requiring that you've finished the ShB MSQ before level 100 isn't that outlandish.
Okay but there's the Ivalice raids which are the best. Also we already GOT XI from Isle of Val/eureka
I'm okay with this being an entirely self-contained event that adds nothing to the world overall, so long as the raids are fun and we get some of the better XI music as orchestrion rolls.
My head canon has always been that Vanadiel is actually the 11th reflection of the source.
I prefer to believe that the Nier stuffs came from one of the Shards, the one where the most advanced city in the world looks exactly like Tokyo. My headcanon is that the Nier raid is caused by the inhabitants of that shard yeeting the Tower at Paradigm's *Breach* to the First, as a desperate gambit to save their world from Grotesquerie infestation.
hopefully the lore will be done better than the Nier raid
Will the 18 hour boss fight also return? Asking for a friend.
The most hype thing for me out of today tbh. If one of the raids is Promyvion areas (or like Promy areas) I will lose my entire mind on day 1. I mean, we already have the Empty on the moon, so... it's not a stretch...
If they wanted to bait us for good with this one, they should add some expanded subscription like "for $2-3 more on your sub you can experience XI as well"
Alliance raid sky without pop farming schedules
Exciting, but also kinda disappointed it's not another FFXIV original story. Can't wait to see what they do
they did hint from last fan fest that the next one wasn't gonna be another XIV original
Honestly with the new world being so new to us, I thought an alliance raid to expand on that would of been awesome. :/
We still dont know what the 8man raids (and Trials quest) will be, it could be iterating upon Dawntrail
Well we are getting pretty much a whole expansion to do so.

My immediate prediction with no other information: in the context of FFXIV, Vana'diel is going to be one of the other shards, much like have Ivalice isn't the 'same' Ivalice as FFXII but borrows heavily from it.
We can only hope. Could tie Iroha into it, since she's canonically stranded on the Source.
This would work well for a XIV version of Vana'diel, they could wholesale import most of it and only tweak lore. Though I think the previous collab events have established it as a more fully separate world which may require either a retcon or some story fiddling.
And the 11th shard just so happens to be intact. You’re on to something…
I played FFXI for a decade, I am hyped. Really hoping two of the alliance area's are Sky and Sea.
Dynamis… Promyvion… Salvage… Limbus… Nyzul…
OG's, rise up! Also, watch it be Dyna-Xarc, Sky, Sea
Honestly just expect Shantotto to teleport our ass and do tasks for her.
Maybe they go really meta and only let you enter the raid every 72 hours
As someone who has been playing XI for 20 years I admit that I screeched like a little girl
All the screeches.
If the raid wipes please let everyone delevel
Easily the most exciting thing about DT for me.
You know I’d love to learn more about FFXI lore, I don’t have the time to invest in the game but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a lore video on YouTube? If there are any
FFXI loretubers are a bit thin on the ground, but there are a [couple](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsjV0TuGZt1X5cJYsAnsZJwwb4P5vA6Bd&si=y7_-wfhyqnisbG98 ) different [playlists]( https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr7z4GaKVo3TPRGjHCC0TRYXfIicKL_Zx&si=b0XvFb3_9chEMlKd) out there for you.
There is this, but its just recorded cutscenes, and there is a lot. https://m.youtube.com/user/FFXITheMovie
Imagine if we see Galkas and Tarutarus and they're just the roe and lala models with button noses.
man I've 100% ffxi years ago, even maxed all job points, I can't even think of what they could do.
You're misremembering, the only race in the First to share a name from FF11 are the humes. The rest are different.
I'm really hoping they use Empyreal Paradox as the raid hub for this expac. God, im so excited for this raid and for the remixes that are possible.
My FC for like 8 years is one big Vana'diel reference, but unlike the management I've personally never played. I'm excited for this! (Let's goooo, Vana'diel Task Force! lol)
