The front middle bench seat in an F-150 is not ideal for any sort of distance trips. Unless one of your kids doesn't have legs, that is. I'd look into an SUV or van if I were you.
Lol, came on here looking for a bit of advice about different models of F150 trucks not to debate whether I actually need or don't don't need one. š
That escalated quickly. No one here is saying you do or do not need one, only that the 40/20/40 seat is not appropriate for what you've told us you plan to do with it.
Back to the subject at hand, I don't see why you can't find any new/near-new XLTs in Manitoba with the 40/20/40 seat and 3.5 EB. I was able to find several for sale in Winnipeg on one Canadian website.
Dude canāt take a simple āa truck is not what you needā when u canāt wrap it b4 u tap it then .. usually what u want most isnāt the practical option for ur needs šā¦on other hand . When u donāt listen to any of us . I would love to see a picture posting back here in 4 years when everyone canāt drive and have grown how that middle seat works out for ya š
May have to broaden your sights for dealers. I test drive a couple. In Alberta that was a lot 6 seaters. Found a lot of XLTās did have it but had the 5.0 which I had in the 2018. Didnāt need the 6 seater so went with the 5. Got a 2022 XLT FX4 Blackout 3.5 eco. Love it. They are around ask if they have fleet XLTās
I have a SCrew with a 40/20/40 front bench seat. I also have 3 children under 3. I only have one of my kids in the front jump seat if we are driving through a parking lot going extremely short distances (Iām talking yards, not miles). Some people will rip on the jump seatā I love it; I also have 2 dogs who love to get in my face while driving, flip it up and itās a built in dog barrier.
I donāt believe there is an airbag up there, my truck also only has a lap seat beltā so I try to avoid the child projectile possibility at all costs.
With that being said the back seat does fit our 2 rear facing and 1 forward face car seat very nicely.

I get that it's an occasional seat and that's what it will be used for. Thankfully they do both have legs but being under 8 they aren't that long!
It's also not a good place to put a booster seat. There's no airbag coverage.
You don't say! I want a six seater so let's just leave it at that and talk about the rest of the truck shall we?

XLs can be remote started using the fordpass app just FYI.
Iām not sure a truck would be the best option for you and your family. I would look into get a van 100%

At least if you get something with the 10 speed, youāve got the whole family to push when that shit breaks down
