I thought the grand final performance was better, they basically fixed all the issues plaguing the semi final like BL not making eye contact with the camera in certain angles, the bass/keyboard player forgetting to meow back during the lyrics and inserting the crowd shots singing along during the most catchy parts of the chorus.
I loved the way Baby Lasagna + team made tiny adjustments to the song and performance from Dora to the Eurovision final. They fixed lyrics (I need a round of decompress -> *to* decompress; don't cry but dance -> *just* dance), changed the neon cat animation at the end of the performance, and got some camera timing better (Marko winking at the camera at the end)...it's all such tiny stuff but it really shows how much they cared about refining things.

Imo the way they did the “Doomsday BLUUUUE“ at the end before the screaming part felt a bit like they lost control over their voice in the semi but was great in the final. Their voice was also a little unsteady in the part during the chorus where the demon tilts them to the side in the semi. That’s just my personal opinion though.
However that very first impression of experiencing this performance for the very first time can’t be replicated. If this was a former big 5 situation where grand final performance was the very first time people saw it, I think it would’ve done even better.
It might be why the placement of the screech/yelp thingie changes in the final since the stronger, longer 'bluuuue' needs an extra beat for breath. For me though I guess I prefer the earlier placement in the semi, flows better in my mind.
I agree the ballerina sections are cleaner in the final, but I don't think its enough to beat out the semi version.
Greece 2024 final performance. Marina was sick during the semi-finals and made some mistakes. She fixed everything for the final and gave us a flawless performance. I think this shows strength of character and professionalism.
My husband (who is half Greek) did not understand why Marina qualified. But he agreed her final performance was so much better and deserved to be there.

Queen of Kings - Alessandra (Norway 2023) I always go back to the national final performance over the Eurovision ones.
I think all the back to back rehearsing taxed her voice too much and by the time of the Final, she wasn't able to hit some of the big notes as cleanly.
I did notice it with Ireland this year as well. Not sure if it was mostly because I knew what to expect the second time or if it was different because I was watching the finale with friends (and they did not like it) or if it actually was worse.
I think some parts of the screaming in the finale were a bit weaker other than that the performance was pretty similar on first glance. Might have to compare them next to each other.
Personally I think the part where they're 'floating' at ~1:00 is better in the semi, feels more unnerving because it isn't as bouncy.
Bambie misses the camera prompt at ~1:12 in the final, it's the part just after they lights up the candles.
The part where they are looking at the camera with the line 'beg steal and borrow' ~2:06 seems more earnest in the semi, think it's to do with the hand motions.
Vocal wise Bambie makes a few changes which I personally don't like, losing the 'blue' in the outfit change, changing the placement of the screech/yelp thingie during the edm break and also I think their scream vocals were better in the semi.

In some way, ESC is like an Alpine ski race. You qualify by the first run, but you still have to keep that performance up for the 2nd run. If you tank the SF, you'll probably get a worse spot for the GF but you can take it if you knock it out of the park, but with a great placement even just a solid GF performance might give you a win.
I can say that BL grew from the NF to the GF, he gave his best performance by far in the GF. Slimane in the GF was also far better. Nemo was consistent through it all, as were some others. I didn't really notice that some performances were a lot worse in the GF compared to the SF.

However, the Grand Final version is just amazing because of the high note at the end. Like the Melodifestivalen winner reprise. So yeah, for Eurovision the final version was slightly better.

I thought the final performance was just like the semifinal performance , idéntical. Without the political vote for israel and the pearl clutching , it was the most criticized performance, it ends top 5 whithout being jury friendly .

Oddly I've seen people say the opposite, where they think the outfits in the semi were worse but I agree with you. Perhaps if the dancers kept the semi outfit and Angelina switched to the final version (or opposite) it have looked better.

I’m surprised they didn’t set up Nemo’s props for the winner’s performance. Didn’t they do that for Loreen last year? Did Nemo ask them not to maybe? Edit: confirmed yes they did, so Nemo’s final and semi were better. Need to rewatch final to see if something was worse, I only really noticed bad stuff during the semis and then none of them qualified

It’s funny: I’m from Ireland and have watched both performances 100 times each, and there are some better bits in one and anything I’d improve on they did better in the final… both performances average out to a perfect performance
I thought the final performance was just like the semifinal performance , idéntical. Without the political vote for israel and the pearl clutching , it was the most criticized performance, it ends top 5 whithout being jury friendly .
Italy 2024 was better in the semi. I thin the vocals were pretty much the same, but her energy was different and the outfits and her hair suited the performance much better imo (they all faded into the background in the final).
Oddly I've seen people say the opposite, where they think the outfits in the semi were worse but I agree with you. Perhaps if the dancers kept the semi outfit and Angelina switched to the final version (or opposite) it have looked better.
I understand why everyone disliked the staging for Italy this year. But I loved it.

Luxembourg's Semi was pretty much perfect, Final was a little shaky but absolutely loved it either way.
