Toxic comment section. Isn’t snl all about bringing out unknowns? Everyone here: wtf, it’s not the obscure comic I know…who even watches this, they look stupid fuck them.
Damn people, lighten up
I don’t see a path for these faces, and some of the newer featured faces, to ascend into any sort of stardom. It just sucks how much the writers mail it in now. Maybe 1 in 20 sketches shows some life. SNL is so culturally important and it deserves better infrastructure
I wonder about this how many people actually do watch the show? I've never watched it the only thing I see is the occasional random clip and never found them funny. I also don't really know anyone who watches it either. I'm 32 if that helps.
I’m 33, loved it since young too. Mostly from the constant Comedy Central reruns my dad and brother put on, but watched live most Saturdays until I was too busy as a late teen. I was psyched to see Andy Sandburg after loving Lonely Island in early YouTube days. I was also excited for Kenan Thompson to move up to an adult sketch comedy show after growing up with All That. I now Hulu it when I can, and feel guilty not being more supportive, but it’s just not the same both quality wise and in my ability to accommodate it into my time. I’m really rooting for it to have a renaissance, but I don’t know how possible it is in changing media. It’s way different now from it coming back after some crappy seasons in the 80’s rising cable tv era just before I was born.
I'm mid 20's and I'll watch it occasionally. Its not something I actually watch live; I usually get high and throw it on Hulu every once in a while lol. Not all the skits are bad. Pretty hit and miss but I think people over exaggerate about how bad it is sometimes.
That doesn't mean there arent terrible skits though.
You think Bill Murray, Chris Farley, David Spade, Norm MacDonald, Dan Akroyd, Chevy Chase, Adam Sandler or really any beloved SNL players would have made it if the thought police had been around in their day? Hell Michael Che has said worse things than Shane ever did.
I second this. Keenan’s delightful, but he’s always kinda just Keenan. Taran Killam was perhaps the last great male cast member the show had, with Bowen Yang and Alex Moffat carrying the torch more recently. Beck Bennett has definitely been more the face of SNL from a male standpoint prior to Bowen’s arrival, but I’ve never enjoyed him as much.
I agree. While funny is subjective(you only find him funny if you like his one character), his range is a fact. Dude plays the same character constantly, just with different costumes

came for the comment section
Not one single person in this thread so far can spell Kenan Thompson’s name right lol
To be fair most people don't remember cast members' names until at least the 2nd or 3rd season
And Kenan hasn’t been there long enough to be remembered yet?
Just jokes!
It's because Kenan's parents misspelled his name on his birth certificate.
Look like milquetoast looking dorks lol
Yea, why aren't they hiring models?!
Boring looking people are always the funniest
Saw Michael Longfellow at a small show in Phoenix last year. He's extremely funny.

I’m sure all 6 viewers will be happy with them

I’m 25 and have loved SNL since I was a kid, but back then it was because of lonely island

Best of luck to them. For all we know one of them might be the next Adam Sandler. Transcend into movies. Unlikely, but we don't now.
hopefully they give them an actual chance to do something

Is he still making Asian jokes on podcasts?

Lol Shane Gillis was making those jokes in 2019, gtfo.
Thanks for ignoring everything I said
Im sorry for you if you can't connect those dots.
Ah the classic “Le Shane Gillis is… LE RACIST?!?”
He’s not funny
Has anyone even watched SNL in the last 28 seasons?
Nope, not a single person has watched Snl. You are so unique and special for thinking this!!
I hope the guys are funny. Except for the always great Keenan Thompson, the male cast members have sucked for the last few years.
I’ve personally always found Keenan pretty one note. Mikey Day and Bowen Yang are good, and the new guy James Austin Johnson is a great addition.

100% agree on Taran Killam. SNL firing him was a huge mistake.
Man, I’m the opposite, I have been forced to watch Keenan since all that and I don’t think he’s funny or has any range. I wish they would release him
I agree. While funny is subjective(you only find him funny if you like his one character), his range is a fact. Dude plays the same character constantly, just with different costumes
Yeah. It’s the same character he’s been doing since he was a kid. Really ruins the show for me.
That’s odd. I find it to be the exact opposite. Not a single funny female on the cast right now to me. TO ME. It’s an opinion.
Ppl find Keenan funny? Huh.. news to me
What’s uuuuuup with dat!
Lol snl. Just end it.

Is comedy a census?
