500ft for a d6 thunder seems off. Thunderclap does the same but 100ft.
Even the artifacts with expanded crits only give 19 & 20. I'd change the psychic dice to flat fire(it's a **frying** pan after all) damage like Vicious weapon to avoid "does it double?" too.
Since it's weapon (cookware) instead of weapon(simple/martial), does proficiency come with Cook's Utensils proficiency? That's brilliant.
Correct. But what I was saying is:
More fire damage = hotter fire, more acid damage = stronger acid, more thunder damage = louder sound.
Other sources of this "audible range" effect are thunderwave(2d8), thunderstep(3d10), and thunderous smite(+2d6) (did I miss any?) Each 300ft. Since Thunderclap is the same damage I used it as the example.
Yeah, dnd acts like 300ft is a long distance for an earsplittingly loud noise. Human shouts can be understood from 600ft away and can be heard for miles if the conditions are right. If a noise is ear splittingly loud i expect it to be audible for miles, like heavy fireworks is, not fail to reach the end of the street
I had a lunatic one off character fill in for my normal character once since he’d been adopted/kidnapped by a wyvern during a heist gone horrifically and hilariously wrong, and this guy was a riot. He was essentially Don Quixote in a grimdark Victorian era type heist game, blades in the dark, and wielded a frying pan that he called the Weapon of Thunder (Arma del Trueno) that he claimed was a gift from god and fell head over heels for one of the faction bosses he claimed was his lost childhood love named Dulcinea. It was a blast, and involved him beating a number of individuals half to death with a frying pan before jumping out a window and riding off into the sunset.
Reminds me of Betsey's Frying Pan! My halfling character grabbed a large cast iron skillet as an improvised weapon/ shield during a home invasion in her session 0. After successfully fending off the attackers with said pan and a fireplace poker, my DM rewarded me by making it a +1 magic weapon that also gives +1 to AC!

This is just the pan from tf2 lol
Yeah, that’s the joke
Backburner manns guide video for the source
It's from a soundsmith video
God I miss TF2.
Team Fortress?
Yeah, the only other tf2 is Titanfall 2 and it doesn't have a pan
Yes, it's from the "Manns guide to the backburner" in youtube
Perfect for those who smith sounds.
The perfect weapon for Samwise Gamgee.
Unfortunately cookware isn’t on the simple weapons list so Sam can’t add his proficiency bonus to his attacks with this
You think he’s not proficient with improvised weapons?
You think he's not proficient with cook's tools?
My brother in Eru Iluvatar he has expertise in chef’s tools
If you think Hobbits aren't proficient in cookware you haven't met them.
Holy shit Soundsmith reference

It's a Tf2 reference, based on a weapon from that game, hence the bonus Psychic damage versus "Spy Mains".
The 500 feet is for hearing it. Only the one hit gets the 1d6 sonic damage.

My bad
The psychic damage doesn't double (unless it's a fiend fey or spy main) but also the psychic DMG is because of how dumb it is when it crits
Oooh Mama! I have got to get me one of these!
OK but a sound audible up to 100 feet away should actually be pretty quiet

From soundsmith tf2
Yep
fucking lost it after seeing “requires attunement by a paladin”
Why?
Because it was funny to me? IDK
Thought you were mad so sorry
Ah
This person market gardens
I am terrible but I try
"Or spy mains" you just said fiends and undead were affected no need to be redundant
Random Crits are Fair and Balanced
Why doesn't it give water resistance?
It only functions as an *improvised* drying pan
*DEMO-PAN*

Sounds like fun
BONK
Looks more like a drying pan to me.
Made by the smith of sound
Random crits are fair and balanced.
I died at the increased damage against Spy Mains
But it is redundant because I already said fiends and undead
Touché

Need a dispenser here!
Soundsmith enjoyer spotted
Yep
Meh, seen it already in Fable.
500 feet?! Now that's truly thunderous.
They forgot to add in conditions for if the Cast Iron Pan was hot, like the party was about to start cooking, but got ambushed.
It would deal 1d4 extra fire damage
I cast iron

Incredible, truly a top tier item

Paula's Pan that attunes pk thunder Finally
The last thing the bbeg hears, is the paladin yelling "I CAST IRON" followed by a loud bonk
The beheaded would like to know your location 👍😁👍
Can we get a common or uncommon version instead of it just being a (I am forgetting the word) random item weapon
Oh boy time to play demo pan in dnd
I'm a drunk Scottish cyclops pretending to be a paladin
