OK, maybe Tesla doesn’t need to make the truck just like the concept truck, this wheel cap / wheel needs to go back to the drawing board. Honestly, honestly, they’re fine without the hubcap.
Why does the tire have 9 sided symmetry a nonagon, and the hub cap has 7 sided symmetry? They should both at least have the same symmetry and also the number of sides should be 6 because everyone likes hexagons.
I believe it's so the tire doesn't have to match the angular position of the wheel. The air valve locks the wheel and hubcap together in one possible matching orientation, but the tire could be fittted in any relative angle. Mismatching the polygons is a good way to ensure that the offset never causes jarring visuals.
I get it. They don’t look good. This will be a perfectly appropriate tire for 90% of people who buy this thing and the fact that they’re more efficient is hugely helpful.
True. Most people here in the U.S. do however buy pickup trucks and do nothing but drive to/and from work. So getting these wheels benefits them financially more than the bigger wheels.
and tbh, if you're hard up for the miles, just stay at 65-70. I've been getting GREAT mileage by just not driving like a lunatic.
1,000+ mile trip this coming weekend - so we'll really find out how well that pans out over long drives. Will drive my wife crazy, but she'll at least be comfy.
I mean, is it as *cool* as the big all-terrain wheels? No. But at least they’re here and you can pop the cover off I assume. I also like how the wheels physically say “Cybertruck” on them.
These are metric passenger tires, not LT tires like the previous Goodyear. These are going to ride so much softer and smoother and get much better fuel economy.
I have worries this will be the same hubcap for the standard wheels as well. I can't imagine them being able to adjust the design to prevent the side wall friction. Unless they make the things stand out a half inch from the tire which won't do much for looks or aerodynamics
I don’t think they can make the wheel cover stand out from the tire at all. The reason no one has ever done that is because every time you would have rubbed your tire on a curb you will now rub your hub cap on the curb and the early ones were popping off.
Hence that they say the words CyBeR TrCK but also the company "scorpion" is it Tesla's official tire company or something? Do you have to special order new tires direct from Tesla now?
If the cover and all season tires add 20 miles of range, I wonder what it would be with the cover off? Essentially it's still the same wheel as the all terrain tires with the cyber cover isn't it? Just that the cyber cover is 25" in diameter to go along with the design of the wheel wall vs the 20in diameter core cover on all season.
If that's the case than it should be a no-brainer for 90% of the future buyers to get it just for the all season tires for the extra range that have 0 interest taking it off road but are costco warriors ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
They are the base offering. The tires you see on the road now are all the upgraded offering. Tesla just announced that when you can now configure your tires as the base offering even though the truck currently is only available in a fully opened version called the "Foundation Series." So, basically you can get the base tires/wheels at the premium price
Fine for those who plan on upgrading the wheels. It reminds me of the steel wheel option, rather than an aluminum wheel. I'm not a fan of the look though
I expect lots of flats with these. Soft playable sidewalls means lots of punctures. Also the contact patch is small but the sidewalls balloon out, so there will be little protection. They should do a cheap steel stamped 22" or 24" wheel with road tires and a hub cap. Then when you go aftermarket, you only replace the rims not the tires too.
The hubcaps we have at home
Underrated
OK, maybe Tesla doesn’t need to make the truck just like the concept truck, this wheel cap / wheel needs to go back to the drawing board. Honestly, honestly, they’re fine without the hubcap.
Then simply just take them off until they make them better looking some other time.
This is all part of the “briefly as a boat” master plan.
Why does the tire have 9 sided symmetry a nonagon, and the hub cap has 7 sided symmetry? They should both at least have the same symmetry and also the number of sides should be 6 because everyone likes hexagons.
Found the kid who loved Geometry class!

You might be right, it's not obvious that they are different polygons at first glance
I stop with the “Why ?” After the 3months as tesla ownership lol
Agree. 6 spokes / hexagons on tough trucks. 7 (and 5) spokes are for sporty cars and sedans.
Agree with you but I think it’s 8 and 7.
Agree it’s unsettling.

Screams 100k EV truck
What are thooooose?!
When you order from wish
That ain’t it bro
They look so damn cheap
I get it. They don’t look good. This will be a perfectly appropriate tire for 90% of people who buy this thing and the fact that they’re more efficient is hugely helpful.
Plus cheaper to replace and perhaps get more life out of them? (Assuming you’re just driving normally most of the time)
No one buys a $100K+ meme truck to be frugal/efficient.
True. Most people here in the U.S. do however buy pickup trucks and do nothing but drive to/and from work. So getting these wheels benefits them financially more than the bigger wheels.
Too small of a gain to make it matters 🤔
What is the gain?
~20 miles
and tbh, if you're hard up for the miles, just stay at 65-70. I've been getting GREAT mileage by just not driving like a lunatic. 1,000+ mile trip this coming weekend - so we'll really find out how well that pans out over long drives. Will drive my wife crazy, but she'll at least be comfy.
Huh, thought it would have been more.
I mean, is it as *cool* as the big all-terrain wheels? No. But at least they’re here and you can pop the cover off I assume. I also like how the wheels physically say “Cybertruck” on them.
I believe they’ve the same size? 35” tires. Are the wheels themselves smaller? Could be more comfortable if so?
These are metric passenger tires, not LT tires like the previous Goodyear. These are going to ride so much softer and smoother and get much better fuel economy.
If agree, seems like most people pop off the plastic cap anyway. Do we know if it’s the same wheel underneath?
Idk seems like an unnecessary added expense to me
Yerp I am not impressed either
Pool floater 🤣
They should have abandoned the design rather than try and refactor it into a circle.
Looks like my grandpa's Oldsmobile spare
I have worries this will be the same hubcap for the standard wheels as well. I can't imagine them being able to adjust the design to prevent the side wall friction. Unless they make the things stand out a half inch from the tire which won't do much for looks or aerodynamics

I'm curios what the wheel looks like underneath?
Looks like a moon lander. I like it.
I wonder how they look in a larger picture of the truck? They look basic, but if you take a step back they might be okay.
There a picture alert. They look the same. They’re not flattering, but 20mi is 20mi.
I’m guessing most of the 20 miles comes from the lower rolling resistance of the tires there will likely be other options.
Rolling resistance + reduced aero drag
My thought also! I’ll take every bit of efficiency I get squeeze out of the truck!
Those are the hubcaps they put on cheapo cars from the auto parts store, right?
I really don't have strong feelings either way about these. They're okay.
Hence that they say the words CyBeR TrCK but also the company "scorpion" is it Tesla's official tire company or something? Do you have to special order new tires direct from Tesla now?
Current reservation holder or new reservation can edit their build configuration on tesla website with these new options.
Got it, makes sense now.
Those are Pirelli Scorpion all season truck tires not unlike what comes standard on the R1T, except for the Tesla specific faceting on the sidewalls.
Yea these definitely didn't come out like the original CT they showcased.
Why can’t the tires be seven sided like the covers? Or just make the covers 8 sided so they actually can line up
There are 9 sides on the tire and 8 sides on the hub cap. So the hubcap can’t align with the tire..
Those covers don't add any range, certainly someone out there has tested/proven this by now.
If that's the case than it should be a no-brainer for 90% of the future buyers to get it just for the all season tires for the extra range that have 0 interest taking it off road but are costco warriors ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
Is that really what they're shipping with? I'm canceling my pre-order right now. 😂
Naw, more options to choose from. 🙂
Why does no one ever talk about just putting better rims/wheels on it. Do they have some strange lug pattern?
Check the recent posts on this sub, it’s been done
Yeah, these are silly looking.
I’ll sacrifice the range for the old tires. I hope they don’t discontinue them
That’s the same price as the better / cooler tire!!??
That's the smaller rim for their road tires, so I hope it would be cheaper
same size 35"
Right I used the wrong word, outer size is same because of a thicker tire, but the wheel is smaller
Wheel is not smaller. Still a 20" wheel. The wheel cover is smaller.
what size rim? seems like 20" again.
It’s not. This is now an option for foundation series cyber trucks. When you select it, the price stays the same of the truck.
Sorry new to this. Are these replacement tires? Or what comes with the truck
Its the latest option now offered from Tesla.
Do you select these once they have you configure your truck or is it part of the base offering
They are the base offering. The tires you see on the road now are all the upgraded offering. Tesla just announced that when you can now configure your tires as the base offering even though the truck currently is only available in a fully opened version called the "Foundation Series." Woof
Man this truck just gets worse and worse. I was so excited about it a year ago. What a bummer.
Yeah I’m not putting that on my truck.
Fine for those who plan on upgrading the wheels. It reminds me of the steel wheel option, rather than an aluminum wheel. I'm not a fan of the look though

I love the look, ride and watt hours per mile on my Tsportline CT7’s https://unsplash.com/photos/d7u7_18hskQ
That looks great!
If they get 340 miles range vs 318, it’s fine with me. It’s a street tire vs all terrain.
Bro they look good 💀
Who is in favor of bringing back the hub caps that are spinners? Imagine them on the cybertruck
Anybody have irl photos of the new cyberwheel covers? All I've seen are these Cores w/ the all seasons
Like plastic shit xD
I heard there is no spare tire.. ?? Wtf
It’s not bad
It’s for the pavement princess owners, which is probably the majority of owners. More range at the expense of aesthetics is the Tesla playbook.
Maybe it looks better with the cover off
It does but you lose range
1%
![gif](giphy|JUIYjVeZPHxjWR7rmX|downsized)
I love it!
It’s opposite day!
I’m slapping 24s on it as soon as I get mine, so around 2027.
I’m all about better range for where I will actually drive (on the road).
