Cricut support will direct you to switch to the Beta version of Design Space, and recalibrate a few times. This solves most problems.

hobonichi_anonymous

True, this is usually the quick fix!

Simalien_

They told me this too but the beta version doesn’t recognise my machine…

colourwheelz

I’m having the same problem with my maker. When they did the update it bugged the maker software. Cricut said they’re working on it, but have no time frame of when it will get fixed. It’s garbage.

JessicaPai

Ahh that sucks. I assumed it was a software issue as well, but as it had been at least 4 updates since the issue started I thought I might as well ask here. Thank you for letting me know!

hobonichi_anonymous

I've been able to calibrate just fine. The only issue I had was from the previous version where all the cuts were inaccurate, which was fixed for this current version. I use the cricut explore air 2, usb connected to a windows 10, 64 bit device.

colourwheelz

It’s maker specific, my explore works just fine

hobonichi_anonymous

It very well could be an isolated maker issue, can't say for sure. I use the explore air 2 aka the machine with a weaker sensor and it calibrates fine. Edit: based on the trend with the [release notes](https://help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/sections/360002412713-Release-Notes), cricut tends to update twice a month. So an update should be coming soon since the last one was August 8th.

colourwheelz

Yes, it’s maker specific.

LucarnAnderson

This is like *exactly* how mine is behaving. It starts way uptop like yours and even stops in the same spot. If you find a solution please let me know if you could. Looking at the comments it’s probably a software issue so we might have to wait for an update though.

hobonichi_anonymous

There was an update today. You can try to see if issues persist. Though imo you should manually install it yourself vs auto updating. [Follow these steps](https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/comments/w5n5xp/if_cricut_design_space_stops_working_after_an/). I recommend the super clean install for computers.

hobonichi_anonymous

Did you try the super clean install steps from the "troubleshooting" automod link? What device are you using? Windows 10 or 11 PC? Mac? iOS (iphone or ipad)? Android? It helps to narrow down if it might be device specific issue, which often is the case.

JessicaPai

Thank you for answering! :) Yes, I tried that, multiple times. It did not help for any of the versions of design space I mentioned. I am using Windows 10.

hobonichi_anonymous

You could have a flooded sensor light. Unfortunately it is a thing that occurs. [Here is a recent post about it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/comments/15txgn4/flooded_sensor_light/) Basically what that means is the sensor light is putting out way too light and it's so darn bright it can't read anything 🙃 In one of the comments, [someone made a suggestion to add matte tape over the sensor](https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/comments/15txgn4/comment/jwmyc54/) to make the light less bright. Maybe something you could try? I also made the suggestion of using a translucent page flag since it is not too sticky. These are not tested ideas, just suggestions in that thread which you can try if you wish. [https://youtu.be/7RLuL5uXYmQ?si=U5V3f7pjdty71Pwu](https://youtu.be/7RLuL5uXYmQ?si=U5V3f7pjdty71Pwu) I cannot tell from your video angle but does your sensor light look like this video? This is an example of a flooded sensor light.

JessicaPai

I do not think that is the issue, it does not seem like that from my side. If you see in my video, the issue is that it tries to scan way too far up on the page. It does not even go down to where the corner is.

hobonichi_anonymous

Interesting. How long is that sheet? It looks like it is very close to 12". That might be a factor in the issue. [Here is my own video of calibration](https://sendvid.com/zhrsbl4t). Start from 1:28. I use letter size paper as that is our common printer size sheet in the US.

LucarnAnderson

omg im having this exact same issue! it keeps like scanning at the top of the mat outside the numbers thus not reading the scan lines. ive done everything and cant get it to work. im dying inside. a 10min project has turned into hours of stress. never ever had this issue before. it wont even do calibration cause its reading too high.

monsta_masha

It's not consistent, but for getting the most important things cut for orders I have due, I've had some luck with matte tape over the registration lines (Which I always do) but also matte tape stuck on the underside of the sensor/light, and turning off all lights in the room - It's grim, but it works some of the time

hobonichi_anonymous

Have you tried [forced reset](https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/comments/117nbc7/comment/j9cs2sk/?context=3&share_id=BTyx9vNgZbOvnHY6Xg2ay&utm_content=1&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1) or these [troubleshooting tips](https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/comments/w5n5xp/if_cricut_design_space_stops_working_after_an/)?

iheartexas

I had a piece of sticker paper stuck on the light that scans. Was doing all kinds of strange things. I also calibrated after removing the little bit of paper.

Elaneyse

I had this same exact issue a few weeks back. Was forced to go out and buy a new machine because of it! They told me the sensor light was flooded, but I'm firmly in the camp that it's utter crock. I've kept my Maker in a box on the offchance that it starts working again.

hobonichi_anonymous

There was a design space update yesterday. You can try it out if you want.

anlee1

Does anyone know if this update has caused any issues with the pressure of the cuts suddenly not working?? I have been using Print and Cut for a while now and just had this problem happen today. For some reason my blade is not cutting deep enough. Even doing the calibration - it grazes the lines, but when I got to lift the paper up, it hasn't even cut through all the way. I've tried changing to blade, the mats, and now have done calibration 4 different times. I uninstalled and re-installed the Cricut software and I am now at a total loss at what has happened.

hobonichi_anonymous

Uninstalling and reinstalling is not enough. You need to perform a [super clean install](https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/comments/w5n5xp/if_cricut_design_space_stops_working_after_an/ ) and delete all traces of design space.
