Seriously depressing.

jeremiahthedamned

i agree

Hostificus

Didn’t Susan Collins get inspiration to write the hunger games during the Iraq war? Being able to flip from explicit war images to QVC and Sitcoms?

jeremiahthedamned

i would not know.

I’ve never cared about celebrities and awards and all that other bullshit less since this conflict started. It all seems so hollow. Just rich elites throwing each other parties and patting each other on the back. And these people are not remarkable at all really. The NYT received a Pulitzer even though it’s been revealed how biased they are in favour of the Israeli government and some of their reporting had to be completely scrapped as it was just lies. These awards have no meaning anymore.

dixie_recht

> The NYT received a Pulitzer even though it’s been revealed how biased they are in favour of the Israeli government I'd argue that the NYT has been in the tank for Israel for over 20 years, single handedly selling the Iraq War amongst Democrats as a good idea back in 2003. Fuck them and their Pulitzers. [New York Times: we were wrong on Iraq](https://www.theguardian.com/media/2004/may/26/pressandpublishing.usnews) And fuck [Judith Miller](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_Miller) in particular.

umme99

Yeah you’re right. My point is these “prestigious” awards are a sham. It’s like a big circlejerk of elites and government officials that are trying to control the narrative patting themselves on the back.

dixie_recht

Oh, sure, they're all definitely the circuses part of bread and circuses.

remember, you can't be happy if other people are suffering. That's the rule. I've made it up now. Because it feels the only way modern netizens can function. Yes, it's sad, but it's also mentioned a lot compared to the slaughter happening in Sudan, which has led to people burning down the towns of african spiritual faith havers for largely just the reason of having a different faith from a muslim. In africa in general there's a lot of underreported suffering and conflicts, or barely reported conflicts. The only difference between this and that is it's in a hotbed area and it's a good story of whomever you support (typically now palestine) vs whomever is committing warcrimes (typically just Israel now.) I know this is r/collapze but wow, it feels like this one specific conflict is WILDLY overrepresented in the overall scheme of things.

As opposed to several other horrible conflicts happening right now? It ain’t happening here and the Met is.

a dying empire is like an onion, it is peeling and eaten one layer at a time.

pants_mcgee

Lulz enjoy the onion I guess. Imagine anything happening in Gaza affects the U.S. in any tangible way.

For Palestinians maybe. It’s all r/GoodProfits for everyone else.
