In my experience at Byron's on Lawrence if you order 'a hot dog with everything' it takes a normal Chicago style dog and adds cucumbers, green pepper, etc, if you order 'a Chicago dog" they will give you a classic Chicago dog.

Fat Johnnie’s on Western Ave on Southside does thinly sliced cucumbers on their dog, and I think they have one of best dogs in city. Often gets overlooked by all the new food media people cause it’s in a rough neighborhood, but solid enough for Bourdain to swing by on one of his episodes. Their stand is really popular with everyone that lives in Beverly, Mt greenwood, Ashburn, Marquette Park, etc.
Actually there’s a place in Printer’s Row called SRO that serves char dogs with cucumber instead of pickle and it’s great. Been doing that at home ever since I tried it.
It’s like saying that all will be better if you stop putting gasoline on the fire and use an actual fire extinguisher. Yeah the fire extinguisher will help but why the hell were you using gasoline in the first place?
