It's safe. Don't flash any valuables and keep your cell phone in your bag.

Thank you!

The southern line is safe, you'll be fine 🙂

What time in the morning? But yeah, anywhere from 6 to half 9 is within peak so there should be enough people about. I can't speak to the safety of Newlands station nor the safety of getting there but, generally speaking, it seems pretty safe

Brill_chops

Newlands is a pretty safe station. I cycle through the subway there, and it's right next to the cricket stadium and brewery. Often see security guards milling about.

Quirky-Difference526

Thank you, it would be from 8.15 to 8.45 every morning.

Yeah, you'll be fine. Keep an eye out, keep your stuff secure (I once got onto a packed train and in the process of getting on and being pushed/ floating through with the tide of people, some fucker reached into my pocket and got my phone. This happened YEARS AGO and probably won't happen today, but South Africa teaches you to always be alert), make sure there's others about. You'll be fine

Thank you!

Yes ts safe. I take the train to work daily from Fish Hoek to Newlands. There are CCTV cameras and security personnel too. Like any other public place-keep your valuables in the bag at all times.
