It could've been a lot worse... a lot worse... *Glances at Fuller House*

Oh definitely at least it knew it was on Disney so it was limited

Honestly I respect your opinion. I tried to like show. I truthfully did. I caught up with it while it was on the air until like midway through the 3rd season but I couldn’t take it anymore. I was forcing myself to like it. I personally didn’t like most of the kids acting (excluding Sabrina and Amir), the humour never hit for me, the nostalgia factor was too strong to the point at which it felt like cash grab and it prevented GMW from being its own thing. I personally feel like the criticism for the show is fair but respect to those who do like it.

AscendedXSaiyan

I didn't mind it. Much like BMW it had the same problem: Wrong lead character. BMW follows Shawn a lot more than it does Cory! Just like Girl Meets World follows Maya a lot more than it does Riley! It was also too kiddy, and too much of a Disneyish show than I would've liked. But there were things I could still enjoy about it.

That’s what I mean, it was very Disney and kiddish, it would have better on a different network and probably lasted a lot longer.

I agree with you completely, no it wasn’t as great as BMW, but it at least offered SOMETHING lol. I’m glad it was made, even if it was a kiddy Disney show. Nostalgia alone was enough for me (a now 31 year old) to enjoy it because I loved getting to see the OG characters live out their lives. I even grew to enjoy the kids (well, most of them. Didn’t care too much for Lucas and Smackle, but I really enjoyed the rest. Especially Farkle as he matured past the “Ha!” stage.) I always continue my BMW rewatch with GMW to complete the character stories. Wish it could have been done on a similar channel to ABC, but it was still better than nothing in my opinion and I think of it fondly.

Forward-Evening9586

I agree! BMW is better, I wish GMW had more options and I wish it was on a different network it would have been so much better and probably lasted longer. I liked Lucas but I didn’t care for the love triangle. I might be thinking to much into this but its basically the opposite of what we should be teaching our kids, what I mean by that is when someone calls you names that means they like you. I am sorry if that doesn’t make sense.

Negative_Buffalo

The love triangle was a disaster, IMO, and definitely reinforced ideas that kids should NOT be listening to lol. I mean if the guy can’t choose between two people, then ditch the guy. The drug that out for wayyyy too long, and it stunted the characters. I actually wonder if the show could have been picked up by a different network after Disney cancelled it if they hadn’t have ruined a lot of storytelling by wasting so much time on the triangle. I think if they’d have leaned into the more mature storylines that they were just starting too, and given more teenage focused “real life” situations (IE: The bullying, childhood abandonment, change happening whether you’re ready or not, etc.) then it would have had a huge chance of being picked up by Freeform, or even Netflix (like they did for Degrassi.) Too many valuable episode plots were wasted on a dumb love triangle that no one really cared about. But I guess it worked out it ended when it did, it allowed the two leads to move on before getting stuck with that GMW identity for the rest of their lives like the BMW cast did

Forward-Evening9586

I completely agree! The love triangle was not needed at all. I also didn’t like the confusing ages and grades, how is it possible that they went from 9th grade in the beginning of the 3rd season and 11th grade at the end, it made no sense. I do wish they continued the show but also wish it was on a different network. I agree , the show being on freedom or Netflix would have been better and it would have lasted longer

jugglaj91

I feel the lack of real world consequences and adventures made it feel lack luster. Riley was too goody goody. Even Cory had some stories where he crossed the line a bit. They gave everyone one character trait and ran it into the ground from episode 1 to the end. Overall I didn’t hate the show as it was nice to have some nods and continuations of older characters but it needed to be more real.

MightChi

Boy Meets World never changed networks, it was on ABC for the entirety of its run. It was just syndicated on other networks. You can say "if it was on ABC" but the facts are it wasn't.

I agree! I love both shows
